High salary vs job satisfaction, which is more important?

High salary vs job satisfaction, which is more important? many people find
themselves in soulless but well-paid jobs yearning for fulfillment. Equally as many people
work in low-paid jobs they love, regretting their choice. It's difficult to choose a job without
actually having spent a few years working in it. Thus, it is understandable that people regret
or start questioning their choice. Those just starting career may wonder what to focus on, a
high salary or job satisfaction.

Many people believed that job satisfaction gives people a sense of fulfillment that no
money can guarantee. Even if someone is earning a high salary, but feels tensed and
compromises with his conscience, this person won’t enjoy his life. While pursuing one’s
interests will always bring pleasure and feeling of satisfaction. For example, a lot of famous
researchers made their career choices not because of appealing wages, but because they were
passionate about science. That’s why it’s more important to choose the kind of work that
makes you happy than to look only at a high salary.

Secondly, doing what you like keeps you motivated and therefore leads to a career
growth. In other words, there is a strong relation between job satisfaction and productivity.
People who love their jobs can easily excel in their fields of work and achieve better results
than those, who put salary on the first place. For instance, Henry Miller decided to leave his
everyday job despite a good wage and ventured to become a writer. And after enduring years
of ups and downs he became one of the most famous and well-paid authors of the twentieth
century. Thus, advantages of jobs that keep you satisfied outweigh the drawback of a low
salary in a long-term perspective.

However, some people argued earning a good salary has many advantages.
Obviously, you have more money and can afford more, better holidays a bigger house, and a
fancy car. Or you can save more money and retire early. perhaps after only five to ten years
of work.

Even if you do not like your job, you would only have to do it for a short period of
time before you can retire and spend the rest of your life on passion projects traveling. Early
retirement means saving at least half of your salary and invest those savings for example into
property or the stock market and eventually you will reach a point where your investment
income covers your monthly bills and you can quit your job.
To conclude, I strongly believe that there is no absolute answer to what is important
when comparing salary versus job satisfaction. which one you choose; a high salary vs job
satisfaction depends ultimately on yourself and your goals in life.

Whether you end up with a well-paid job you hate or a job you love that does not pay
very well, there are always ways to improve your situation. The important point is to stop
complaining, the appreciate side of your job and compensate for the downsides.
