EXPERIENCE

My internship in Unitecture gave me a very great experience and many beautiful memories. It gave
me a new dimension towards looking at architecture & realising what being an architect means. My
office started at 9am in the morning till 6pm in evening. My first day in office was for induction of
new trainee interns and junior architect which came from different colleges in Pune and also from
other cities. I was made aware about the companies’ policies, rues and regulation. I was also made
aware about the ongoing projects and guidelines to follow while making drawing. I always saw our
principle architect more as a teacher more than an employer because everyone in the office had the
liberty to discuss any kind of problem or confusion directly with him which helped me bring out the
best quality work at the end of the day. My office was generally operating in offline mode but due to
some colleagues getting infected from Covid-19 sometimes for a brief period we shifted to online
mode. Every day was a new learning for me and got to meet with clients understanding their needs
and expectation and reflecting it on the drawing.

PROJECTS WORKED ON

During my tenure I worked on total twelve projects which were of different typologies categorised as
residential units (6no.), commercial development (3no.), interior design (2no.) and competition
projects (1no.).Each project was unique & challenging in its own way but the project I enjoyed
working on was the competition project for Tata Consultancy in which I worked as a team with three
fellow intern and one junior architect along with our principle architect. I had to design a data centre
spanning around ten acres located in banglore. The major challenge was to justify our design and the
circulation on site with respect to the contours on site. A separate dedicated space was given on site
for power station for electricity backup in case of power fluctuation or power cut as backup was an
essential mandatory part of the services design as we were dealing with data measuring in zettabytes
supported by high speed internet. Interesting part of the project was we were competing with the
company itself as it was also participating in the competition.

LEARNING

I always had brainstorming sessions before initiating any project where I was made aware of the
legalities of the project referring to the UDCR book. Being majorly involved in designing I was
unaware of the finances of how much fees architect charges but efforts were made on my side to go
through the BOQs of the completed and proposed project to get an idea of the costing. I got to learn a
lot from Unitecture & made some beautiful memories which I will always cherish for the rest of my
life.
