REPUBLIC ACT 9275 a law providing for complete water quality management
and other purposes this act also know because the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004.
Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 promotes environmental strategies, use of control
mechanisms for the protection of water bodies or resources. And provide for a broad
management program for water pollution that considers water pollution prevention
promotes public information and education and to encourages the participation of an
informed and active public in water quality management.
Today, water is the driver of economic development in the country. The
Philippines is rich and has abundant water resources necessary for its economic
development. Mining activities affect water through heavy use of water in exploiting and
processing ore, and thru pollution from discharged mine seepage from tailings and
waste rock impoundments. Mining activities threaten the water sources on which we all
depend. On a more relevant note, the Philippines clean water act helps control pollution
that is based on any sources, that lays down water quality standards and regulations
especially when it comes to any mining company activities. Mining activities should be
guided by current best practices in environmental management committed to reducing
the impacts of mining and effectively and efficiently protecting the environment
Mining features a large impact to the environment of its improperly managed
through Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 which aim to protect the country’s water
