Universal Design for Learning (UDL): bubble.us is designed to be customizable to a variety of needs,
particularly visual aids. Representation is met because  students can customize the display of information,
whether using text or images in their mind-map. Students show Engagement by having their own choice of
design, format, or color-coding. This type of activity also allows for self-reflection by having students asses
their understanding as they create their own flow chart. Bubbl.us is made to be very user-friendly and fun for
students.

Lesson idea implementation: After students have been introduced and have familiarized themselves with the
many methods of solving quadratic equations, they’ll be tasked with creating a mind-mind comparing the
different methods. Once they have a general idea of the key things to look for in a problem before deciding
how to solve, they’ll be ready to create a flow chart for them to use as they work through these problems. This
flow chart should take them step by step through their thought process and decision-making, so that they can
replicate it each time. I will show them my flow chart as a guide, but they will need to create their own using
bubbl.us in a way that they can understand. This flow chart will then be their resource for the remainder of the
unit.
I will know that a student has completed the assignment with an understanding of the material when they can
explain their thinking and prove their flow chart works with example problems. The goal of the project is to
have students practice making their own unique resources and study tools that work well for them.

Reflective Practice: I think this activity can go far beyond the math classroom. I believe this idea can create
a sense of empowered in students and an overall more independent learning environment. By showing
these students the resources that they can use to learn and even teach themselves, I am creating a group of
students that are responsible for their own learning. I might further extend this lesson by having students
provide examples of real-world scenarios for this math or even a time when bubbl.us could help them be
more organized in their own lives.
