DESIGN BRIEF: ARCHITECTURE DESIGN-VI ARP-380

DESIGN PROBLEM: GROUP HOUSING

• The Proposed site is situated on 200’-0” highway at Mullanpur, New


Chandigarh.
• The area of the site is 7.8 Acres.
• The dimensions on each side are given in the site plan attached.
• Parking area should not be included in FAR
• Parking on stilts, Basement and Surface should be given as per PUDA/NBC
Norms with proper Entry / Exit points with circulation.
• The Design should incorporate all the required services (Plumbing and Sanitary,
Waste and Sewerage, RWH, STP, Firefighting, Electrical etc.) for housing at Site,
Block and Unit level Planning.
• Sustainability and Energy Efficiency aspects should be incorporated in Design and
should be taken as a prime consideration.
• Structure Design Part should be considered as part of planning the parking and unit’s
layout also integrate earthquake retaining structure design considerations as per Seismic
Zone of Punjab.
• The Housing is to be designed for four categories.

Type -A, Type-B, Type-C and Type-D.

Type A - 1BHK, Proposed Area – 60sqm (with 5% Variation) with 1ECS

Type B - 2BHK, Proposed Area – 110sqm (with 5% Variation) with 1.5 ECS

Type C- 3BHK, Proposed Area – 150sqm (with 5% Variation) with 2 ECS

Type D- 3BHK with Servant Room, Proposed Area – 180sqm (with 5%


Variation) with 2 ECS

• Total No. of Units Proposed are 500 Apartments


• The Proposed division of Units %age wise is as following:
Type A 20%
Type B 30%
Type C 30%
Type D 20%
• A Community Center is to be designed for 250 persons with all the additional
facilities required.
• The Community Center should also include different spaces for indoor games,
Gymnasium, Kids zones and newspaper reading sections etc.
• Swimming Pool can also be provided as per design.
• The Commercial area can be designed for convenient shopping with 12-15 nos.
shops with 25-30 sqm area per shop with flexibility of Design.
• A Healthcare Center should be designed with area variation from 25-30 sqm
• Space for Primary + Nursery School to be only earmarked Area given is .5-.7 acres
(No Designing and planning is reqd.)
