Assessment Task 1 Instructions

Provide answers to all of the questions below:

1. Describe communication processes and the importance of such when conducting applied research.
The communication is a dynamic process that begins with the conceptualizing of ideas by the
sender who then transmits the message through a channel to the receiver, who in turn gives the feedback in
the form of some message or signal within the given time frame. Thus, there are Seven major elements of
communication process:

Sender: The sender or the communicator is the person who initiates the conversation and has
conceptualized the idea that he intends to convey it to others.
Encoding: The sender begins with the encoding process wherein he uses certain words or non-verbal
methods such as symbols, signs, body gestures, etc. to translate the information into a message. The
sender’s knowledge, skills, perception, background, competencies, etc. has a great impact on the success
of the message.
Message: Once the encoding is finished, the sender gets the message that he intends to convey. The
message can be written, oral, symbolic or non-verbal such as body gestures, silence, sighs, sounds, etc. or
any other signal that triggers the response of a receiver.
Communication Channel: The Sender chooses the medium through which he wants to convey his
message to the recipient. It must be selected carefully in order to make the message effective and correctly
interpreted by the recipient. The choice of medium depends on the interpersonal relationships between the
sender and the receiver and also on the urgency of the message being sent. Oral, virtual, written, sound,
gesture, etc. are some of the commonly used communication mediums.
Receiver: The receiver is the person for whom the message is intended or targeted. He tries to comprehend
it in the best possible manner such that the communication objective is attained. The degree to which the
receiver decodes the message depends on his knowledge of the subject matter, experience, trust and
relationship with the sender.
Decoding: Here, the receiver interprets the sender’s message and tries to understand it in the best possible
manner. An effective communication occurs only if the receiver understands the message in exactly the
same way as it was intended by the sender.
Feedback: The Feedback is the final step of the process that ensures the receiver has received the
message and interpreted it correctly as it was intended by the sender. It increases the effectiveness of the
communication as it permits the sender to know the efficacy of his message. The response of the receiver
can be verbal or non-verbal.
2. Describe four communication methods that you may consider using in relation to applied research.
Four Communication Methods
Vocal Communication : This medium is expressed by words , voice , sound and languages in which
individual can express his thoughts by speaking
Expressed Communication : These include facial expressions , body languages , eyes reflection .
Written Communication : This involves reports , writing confirmations or some proofs by the medium
Vision Communication : In this there is transmission of ideas by symbols and pictorial views

3. Explain three data collection methods. Include at least one manual method, as well as one method
that uses technology and one method that uses technology services.
Three Data Collection Methods
1 Manual : ( Interviews ) Interviews are the major data collection method in which a series of questions are
asked and a structure is drawn according to the requirement of the environment .
2 Surveys : This method of data collection method which is used as surveys with a pattern of ideas in the
developing fields
3 Research Publication : A technic medium which is applied as the data collection method in the form of
publications

4. Explain three data analysis methods. Include at least one manual method, as well as one method
that uses technology and one method that uses technology services.
Three Data Analysis Methods
1 Data and information is analysed under the collaborative group of members which is done by interviews
and focus groups . Researches are conducted for the submission of notes by the help of notes and results
into production of notes
2 Analytical method also proceeds with the technology which requires software . Software development
makes the work very easy and convenient for the work management and testing
3 A specific system is offered by the company or organisation for the better work that leads to an efficient
result

5. Explain legal requirements that apply to the handling and storing of data when conducting research.
Legal requirements when storing data :
Data , information , policies that are stored and maintained under the rules or regulations made by the
Government bodies or organisational managements . Australian policies should collect information but with
measures under restrictions of measure conducted by Government and research conductors .

6. Explain legal requirements that apply to privacy of data when conducting research.
Privacy is the requirement of the organisation while conducting research and the information that
are utilized by the bodies should maintain privacy under the consideration of Government bodies and
Australian Privacy policies .

7. Explain legal requirements that apply to freedom of information when conducting research.
Under the Freedom ACT , participants have right to go through any document , written report and
presentation conducted under the eye of organisation related to personal information or company .

8. Explain the key steps in the applied research process that may be referred to in policies, procedures
and guidelines relating to applied research.
1. To Select, determine and getting chance for the exploration includes:
• Knowing the aim of the research.
• Focus of the inquiry.
• Notifying the result of the research which is carrying out.
2. Review existing information including learning as much as possible about the research problem, its goals
and objectives. This will help clarify the research goals and objectives.
3. Plan research methods and tasks
A research project’s methodology can be established by adhering to the following steps:
• A Programme or pattern should be there for research.
• Specify the information needed to answer each research question.
• Identify data sources for each piece of information needed.
• Specify how data collected will be sampled.
• Decide on data collection methods.
• Design data collection instruments, forms, questionnaires and procedures corresponding to each
data collection method.
• Data analysis is done on the basis of quantitative and qualitative .
• Validation of data.
4. Collect data: Efficient data is based on the data collected after analysis
5. Analyse and report on data
Data analysis should include:
• Judging patterns in findings
• Collection of data should be based on the trends followed by research
• An interpretation of findings in the light of the hypothesis
• Practical data from analysis
Findings should be recorded and presented in a form that is easily understandable to the intended audience.

9. Describe three presentation techniques that could be used for applied research.
Three Presentation techniques used in Applied Research
1 Presentation is given in the form of presentations which is presented by using screenings such as tablets ,
window displaying , videos and powerpoint presentations that makes an efficient process for viewers
.
2 . Reporting is done for the purpose of presentation technique in applied research as written prospective
which leads to a better understanding .
3 . Conferencing in the front of members is done for the objective of presentation . Visual mirroring is also
done on big screen for understanding .
10. Describe two ways of reporting on research.
Two ways of reporting on research :
1. Reporting or written work in articles are presented in large or short summary
2. Online presentations , workshops are presented in the front of audience .
11. Explain the concept of research ethics.
Research Ethics :
1. Research ethics should follow the principles while conducting research
2. It should be understandable , appropriate for the explorations
3. The purpose for conducting the research should be clear and research should be confidential
12. Review the following Code of Conduct and summarise in your own words the key principles of
responsible research:
The research module leads to the company development with variant factors such as growth with
the coordination , participation , ideas , explorations and results at the end . A satisfactory results from
organisation requires participation , involvement , efficient efforts and positivity . Other things require such
as encouraging the work of the employees , managing work , taking responsibility and reduce the negative
effects from the research . A healthy surrounding with the benefits for the employees should be there which
will be beneficial for them in future

13. Outline three examples of applied research tools and how they are applied during research.
Three examples of Applied Research tools :
1. Applied research tools depend on the variables in which one of them deals with the changes that
occur with changes that occur in relevant to it
2. In case of data determination values are determined during the testing of procedures while
conducting the tests with appropriate calculations
3. This is based on the concluding which is noticed at the end of test

14. Give three examples of applied research methods and outline how they are applied during research.
Three examples of Applied Research Methods :
1. Interviews are conducted for determining the reviews of the participants who are showing their
interest in the work with the help of whom final result is recorded and analysed
2. Documentation is done which leads to the observation on basis of the personnels who are giving
their efforts in the organisation
3. Responses of the participants are analysed by help of questions
