1) Safe work procedure of shutdown activity must be followed.

2)Site engineers shall make the Pre task plan (PTP) before Two day for the

by an electronic multi tester/HV tester.

9) De-energized the HT/LT line by putting discharge rod on both sides of the
battery limit & connect the earth wire of discharge rod to firm earth.

10) After connecting discharge rod to earth, discharge the line by discharge

1). Before tapping the existing line must be shut down.


2) Before shut down working site shall be inspected by site Engineer to prepare pre task plan &
identify the possible hazards during execution work, required execution material, tools & tackles,
safety equipment.
3) Site engineers shall make the Pre task plan (PTP) before
two day for the job to be executed.
4) PM/Zone In charge shall approve the PTP before executing the job & inform to EHS In-charge. No
shut down work shall be done without pre task plan. The Site engineer/Zone in charge should give
requests for shutdowns for each area of work involving LT / HT crossing, working near charged line
etc., separately, to electricity Board, at least one day prior to the day of work. Written shut down
permit shall be taken from electricity board & Permit shall be taken only by concern
site engineer.
5) Shut down
through the phone shall be strictly prohibited.
6) In case of double circuit line (HT & LT In same pole) shut down shall be taken for both LT & HT
Line.
7) Same HT line will be connected with two or more subsatation.Please identified the type of HT line
& take the shutdown from all connected substation.
8). After written shut down electricity board will cut off the supply .Provide the lock & tag on the 4 2 8 M
operating switch inorder to strict any accidental operation of operating switch(LOTO System).
9) One person shall be kept as observer near switch till work is not complited to avoid any third party
operation .lock’s key shall be kept with concern supervisor.
10) Only line man (Client) shall remove the jumper/ Isolate the line. L&T workmen or supervisor shall
not be engaged for removing jumper or isolate the line.
11) Site engineer/supervisor shall ensure that the isolators / breaker / fuse are kept in open
condition and caution boards are hanged.
12) Site engineer/supervisor should ensure that there is no back feeding/ Line in line out
arrangements for the feeder. If any such arrangements are there LC must be taken accordingly.
