ROADMAP – Level 4 _Speaking topic cards (1st version)

❖ Part 1: 1-2 minute

▪ Students are asked 2-3 questions about familiar topics (family, school, sports,
fashion, etc.)
❖ Part 2: 2-3 minutes
▪ Draw a topic card and prepare in 1minute.

▪ Present the response in 1-2 minutes.

❖ Part 3: 2 minutes
▪ Examiner asks at least 2 more follow-up opinion questions.

Students are graded on the following criteria:

➢ Pronunciation/Intonation
➢ Lexical use
➢ Grammar
➢ Reflex
➢ Relevant content

Instruction for part 2: You will have to talk about a topic for one to two minutes. You
have one minute to think about what you’re going to say. You can make some notes to
help you if you wish.
Topic 1: Talk about an argument between two of your friends that you witnessed. You should say:

✓ What it was about

✓ When it happened
✓ How it was solved
✓ How you felt about it

Topic 2: Talk about the requirements of your future job. You should say:

✓ What your future job is

✓ What character traits, skills and qualifications you are required to have

✓ If you want to work in an international environment or a national one

✓ How you prepare to meet these job demands

Topic 3: Talk about the ways you have done or will do to be financially independent. You should say:

✓ What the ways are

 ✓ When you started to follow these ways
✓ How you knew them
✓ Why they are helpful to you
Topic 4: Talk about a long-term plan which is not related to work or study. You should say:

✓ What the plan is

✓ When you thought of the plan
✓ Who is involved in the plan
✓ How you think you will achieve the plan
Topic 5: Talk about a piece of art that you like. You should say:

✓ What the piece of art is

✓ Where and when you saw it

✓ What it looks like or what it shows

✓ Why you like this piece of art

Topic 6: Talk about a famous person, not from your country, who you would like to meet. You should say:

✓ Where this person comes from

✓ How you first knew him or her

✓ How this person is famous

✓ Why you would like to meet this person

Topic 7: Talk about an important decision that you made. You should say:

✓ What the decision was

✓ When you made this decision
✓ Why this decision was crucial
✓ How to make right decisions

Topic 8: Talk about an annoying incident. You should say:

✓ What it was
✓ When and where it happened
✓ Why it was annoying
✓ What you did to deal with it
Topic 9: Talk about recovery from an illness. You should say:

✓ How long it took you to recover
✓ What you did to help your recovery process
✓ How you felt after that
Topic 10: Talk about a sporting event. You should say:

✓ What it was
✓ When and where it took place
✓ Who came to the event
✓ How the atmosphere was
