SELECTED ISSUE/CONCERN: Commonly Use Social Media Platform

SHORT BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY:

Last 2020, the outbreak of the highly contagious virus known as COVID-19 has affected the whole world. Until
now, it continues to pose challenges in the different sectors of the society, including the education sector.
According to Department of Education (DepEd), schools must find ways for learning to continue amidst the treat
and uncertainties brough by COVID-19. Thus, schools developed different modes of learning, including online
synchronous and asynchronous classes. With the advancement of technology, different platforms were used
to conduct online classes. Based on the research of Lisa Marie Blaschke, social media technology provides
educators with an opportunity to engage learners in the online classroom, as well as to support development of
learner skills and competencies.

This survey intends to identify which social media platform is preferably used by students to study and search
for information or resources.

SURVEY QUESTIONS:

Which social media platform do you use when studying or searching for information or resources? (You may
choose more than 1)

• YouTube
• Facebook
• Tiktok

RESULTS AND FINDINGS:

The Venn Diagram below shows the preferred social media platform used by students to study and search for
information or resources.

There are 30 students who participated in the survey, and these are the results:

• 20 students preferred Facebook.


• 24 students preferred YouTube.
• 13 students preferred Tiktok.
• 15 students preferred Facebook and YouTube.
• 8 students preferred Facebook and Tiktok.
• 10 students preferred YouTube and Tiktok.
• 6 students preferred Facebook, YouTube and Tiktok.
• 3 students preferred Facebook only.
• 5 students preferred YouTube only.
• 1 student preferred Tiktok only.
