Activity 3 – Different Principles of Design and Elements of Design Used
Based on the given picture below, what can you say about the infographic in terms of design? What is
the message
of the infographic? Write your answer on your answer sheet.

In terms of design, it's actually good because of the collection of texts, pictures and charts that clearly convey a
general message while the message of the infographic tells us that we must think first before we click, for us not
to regret if something bad happen when we click a site without thinking the consequences. The internet and
social media has indeed become such a powerful tool. But don’t forget, we are the ones who operate it. We may
have the right to do whatever we want on the social media, but we must limit our acts for us to be safe.

Assessment / Evaluation

Activity 4 – Synthesizing Your Learning Answer the following questions based on your learning.
Be brief and concise. Write your answer on your respective answer sheet.
1. What makes a good design?
A beautiful design is not a product of great imagination or a result of an idea. Rather, it is a product of
carefully plotted design elements chosen to create a visual representation of the idea and the
imagination. Design is not about pictures placed together and arranged in a way that creates a story.
Design is about creating harmony among the elements and having them come together in a final product
that is unequivocally outstanding. The principles and elements of design both carry the same weight in
executing an effective piece. If you disregard the principles, then you have a visual piece that lacks a
story. And these principles are guidelines that are used to visually communicate the ideas represented by
the elements.

2. What makes a good infographic?

A great infographic can convey a story, new or previously undiscovered data, or a new viewpoint or
perspective on established wisdom can be presented. In terms of the data and the graphic design, it
should be convincing. You should be able to grasp the main message by looking at it for 5 seconds, but
if you look at it for a minute or two, it should also teach you things. A decent infographic should be
obvious and should not be confusing. In an instant, it should tell a meaningful story and should be easy
to read and skim. A simple, uncluttered design makes it possible for the key elements to stand out and
clearly express the main point.
