1. Illustrate the itinerary of Dr. Jose Rizal from Philippines to Spain.

National Hero Jose Rizal left the Philippines in May

1882 to seek further studies abroad after being disillusioned
with how Filipinos were treated as second-class citizens in
educational institutions and elsewhere. He enrolled at the
Universidad Central de Madrid in Spain to study medicine.
He traveled to France in June 1883 to learn how medicine
was practiced there.
Rizal returned to Madrid after his three-month stay
in France and considered writing a book about Spain's
colonial relationship with the Philippines. This idea came to
fruition in March 1887, when the novel Noli Me Tangere was published in Germany.

Rizal was a member of the Propaganda movement,

a group of Filipinos in Spain who tried to draw Spaniards'
attention to the problems of the Spanish colony in the
Philippines. He penned articles for local and international
publications, met with overseas Filipinos to discuss their
responsibilities to the country, and urged Spanish
authorities to implement reforms in the Philippines, such
as press freedom and Filipino representation in the
Spanish Cortes.

1. Discuss the significance, message, ideas and the purpose of the novel “Noli Me Tangere”

Noli Me Tangere by Jose Rizal was about the Spanish invasion of the Philippines and
how the Spanish handled the Filipinos badly. It told the story of Crisostomo Ibarra, who
traveled to the Philippines from Europe to study and returned after a seven-year journey. At
Kapitan Tiago's home, he reconnected with old friends, including his nemesis, Padre Damaso.
He also paid a visit to Maria Clara, whom he had not seen in a long time. He was taken aback
when he learned of his father's passing. Lieutenant Guevarra, a friend of his father's, told him
the tale of his father's death. Padre Damaso, he was told, had ordered Rafael Ibarra's body to
be moved to the Chinese Cemetery. The gravediggers did not follow Padre Damaso's orders and
threw the body into the water. Crisostomo Ibarra was so enraged by this that he launched a
revolt against Padre Damaso and the Spanish government.
This novel contains a lot of symbolism and real-life events that inspired the Filipino
people to launch a revolution and overthrow the Spanish colonizers during the Spanish
colonization. The novel depicted real-life events such as the Friars' command decisions being
more powerful than the Governor- General's, social issues, injustice, and the Philippines' status
as a backward country during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines. The conflicts in the
novel are still present in today's generation, and they have an effect on our society and nation,
so it is important to learn and read Noli Me Tangere. Corruption, inequality, poverty, and
harassment, all of which were prominent in the book, continue to be an issue today.
Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere tells us that we should reflect on our actions and beliefs for
our country. The theme of the novel is to promote nationalism and to accept change in
ourselves is still applies to us today. We must patronize our country by respecting the law,
promoting Philippine culture, and realizing the true goal of the country by helping each other
towards the improvement of the country.
 It instills in us the virtues of wisdom, fighting for what is right, and patriotism. This novel
is being taught in schools in order to prevent history from repeating itself by teaching students
how to love their country and to inspire youth as change agents. Jose Rizal wants us to be real
Filipinos; knowing who we are and what our true aspirations are will help the country thrive.
Noli Me Tangere is a novel that served as a warning to Filipinos to battle the colonizers
and serves as a reminder of our past today. The characters and events in the story are based on
Filipino people's lives, history, and beliefs.
This literary work will imprint in our minds the ideals that the novel teaches us about
being a good role model for our country. This literary work will help us understand the true
meaning of nationalism and act as a catalyst for change.
