Definition of Explanation Text

Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural, social,

scientific and cultural phenomena. Explanation text is to say ‘why’ and ‘how’ of
the forming of the phenomena. It is often found in science, geography and history
text books.

Generic Structure of Explanation Text

– General statement
General statement; stating the phenomenon issues which are to be explained.
– Sequenced of explanation
Sequenced explanation; stating a series of steps which explain the phenomena.

Purpose of Explanation Text

– Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural, social,

scientific, and cultural phenomena.
– To explain how or why something happens.

According to Mark Anderson and Kathy Anderson (1997: 82) says that the
explanation text type is often used to tell how and why thing (phenomena) occur
in nature.

Language Features of Explanation Text

In an explanation text, there are linguistic features as below :

– Using simple present tense
– Using abstract noun (no visible noun)
– Using Passive voice
– Using Action verbs
– Containing explanation of the process .

How does Rain Fall?

Rain is one of the main sources of fresh water for almost all people in the world. It
provides suitable conditions for diverse ecosystems. It is also used as
hydroelectric power plants and crop irrigation. But, do you know how rain
happens?

The rain’s phenomenon is actually what we often call as “water circle.” The
concept of the water cycle involves the sun heating the Earth’s surface water and
causing the surface water to evaporate. Then the water vapor rises into the Earth’s
atmosphere. The water in the atmosphere cools and condenses into liquid droplets.
The droplets grow bigger and heavier and fall to the earth as precipitation.

However, not all rain can reach the surface of the earth. Some evaporates while
falling through dry air. This is what we call as “virga”, a phenomenon which is
often seen in hot, dry desert regions.

DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its
purpose is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing.

MY COZY FAVOURITE BEDROOM
First thing First, I’m sure you guys know what is a bedroom right? And
surely everyone has their own favourite place. In this video I will tell you about
my cozy favourite bedroom, so let’s get started.
Bedroom is a part of the house that is no less important than the other
rooms. Almost every houses has bedroom of at least two bedrooms in each house.
Every room in the house has its own function. As we have seen, bedroom has
function as a place to take a rest, take a nap, sleep at night, or become a private
place. In addition, the bedroom can be one of the favorite rooms for some people
just like me. This is because people already feel comfortable while they are in
their own bedroom. The bedroom now not only has function as a place to take a
rest or sleep. But it also has function as a place to study, a place to read books, and
do some hobbies like watching movies or playing music. I also have my bedroom
in my house and for me this bedroom is the most comfortable and cozy place than
all the rooms in my house. Therefore, I will describe how is my bedroom which is
the reason why I consider it as the most comfortable and cozy place.
First of all, my bedroom is located beside the living room. When you have
entered my bedroom, you will see a room measuring around 6 meters x 5 meters.
So that my bedroom looks square. But it is no problem because I feel enjoy there.
My room is painted lilac and white. There are a many things that you can find in
my bedroom. I have a bed, one long tables, one dresser table, and a book shelf.
First you will see my dresser table which is near the door. And beside the door is a
long table that it has a laptop, a small mini fan and some tools on it. In front of the
dresser table is my bed. Beside my bed, there is a quite long mirror. And some
extra I have my own bathroom. And for the bookshelf it hangs on the wall and it’s
above the long table so it makes me more easier to take some books that I want to.
That was the brief description of my bed room which is quite simple
enough. The bedroom for me was one of the inspirational rooms because I often
did assignments in this room. I can concentrate and finish my task as soon as
possible.

Since mom using the airfryer, everything is so much faster and

fry anything using this tool without any cooking oil. Our family
became healthier.

An Explanation Text

How Aurora Phenomena Happen

Do you know about aurora? Can you tell me how aurora occurs? Well, let me
explain it. An aurora (Latin word mean “sunrise”) is natural light display in the
sky in the poles (north and south) caused by the collision of energetic charged
particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere. In the northern latitude, the
effect is known as aurora borealis (aurora: the goddess dawn, borealis: north
wind). While in the Antarctic region, the effect is known as aurora australis. They
illuminate the northern and southern horizon as greenish glow or sometimes faint
red, occasionally blue but most often in fluorescent green. Auroras can be seen at
night because their light is not as strong as the light of the day.

The aurora phenomenon occurs when the sun produces solar wind. Solar wind is a
stream of electrons and protons which are released from the sun due to the high
kinetic energy. These particles are charged and contain energy, which means they
contribute to electricity. In other way, our planet is surrounded by a super-sized
magnetic sheath which is usually called the Magnetic Field of the Earth.
Sometimes this solar wind hits the Earth. Some of these charged particles lead to
the poles of the earth at a speed that keeps growing. The collision between these
particles and atoms present in the earth’s atmosphere, it releases the energy that
causes the formation of colorful auroras at the poles of the earth, which looks like
a big circle around the pole.

Why Aurora is only found in the earth’s poles? This is because the north and
South Pole magnetic field is very strong compared to other regions. The poles of
this magnetic field pull the protons and electrons from the solar wind. So the
phenomenon is more common in the Polar Regions.
However, sometimes the Aurora can also appear at the top of the mountain in a
tropical climate, but this phenomenon is extremely rare. Aurora phenomena have
been observed on other planets than Earth that have a magnetic field, such as
Jupiter, Saturn and more recently Mars. It is believed to be a widespread
phenomenon in the Solar System and beyond.

Senior High School No.1 Pekanbaru is the oldest high school in Riau
province. Established since 1st August 1955. And now Senior High School No.1
Pekanbaru is 66 years old. Senior High School No.1 Pekanbaru is located on
Sultan Syarif Qasim street No.159, Pekanbaru City, Riau. This school is very well
known for the purple color around the school environment as its characteristic
color.
Senior High School No.1 Pekanbaru has 956 students who are divided into
28 study groups, consisting of 3 levels, namely for class X science, six classes,
social studies, three classes into 9 groups. For class XI science, nine Classes, XI
Social studies , two classes become 11 groups. For class XII science, six classes,
social studies, two classes become 8 groups.
Senior High School No.1 Pekanbaru also has complete facilities. It has
classroom, teacher's room, library, computer lab, language laboratory, biology
laboratory, field ceremony, dance room, basketball court, mosque, canteen, music
room, and school health unit.
Besides a good academic, this school also operates in non-academic. This
school also has various extracurriculars and a myriad of achievements. Even its
achievements have reached the national scope.
 And lastly, this school really respects the family values of students,
teachers, staff, school guards, and even alumni are still involved in school
activities. And our school always participates in social activities.

Blue whale

The blue whale is not only the biggest whale living today; the blue
whale is the biggest creature ever to have lived on Earth. They
are mind-bogglingly gigantic; much larger than any of the
dinosaurs. Blue whales and the other ocean giants live their whole
lives in seawater.

Blue whales commonly reach the colossal length of 29m, that’s

roughly as long as three London red double-decker buses parked
end to end. Blue whales in the Southern Hemisphere are
generally larger than those in the Northern Hemisphere and
female blues are larger than males.
The longest blue whale on record is a female measured at a
South Georgia whaling station in the South Atlantic (1909); she
was 33.58m. The heaviest blue whale was also a female hunted
in the Southern Ocean, Antarctica, on 20 March 1947. She tipped
the scales at 190 tonnes which is equivalent to about 30
elephants or 2500 people.

Blue whales are now extremely rare due to uncontrolled

commercial whaling. Some populations could be endangered to
the point of extinction.

learning math, how to play the piano, how to perfect your golf swing, or how to
drive a car, sleep helps enhance your learning and problem-solving skills. Sleep
also helps you pay attention, make decisions, and be creative.

Physical Health often relate to quality sleep. It plays an important role in your
physical health. For example, sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart
and blood vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart
disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke.

Besides that, sleep also helps maintain a healthy balance of the hormones that
make you feel hungry (ghrelin) or full (leptin). When you don’t get enough sleep,
your level of ghrelin goes up and your level of leptin goes down. This makes you
feel hungrier than when you’re well-rested

Who doesn't know Ardhito Pramono, a male singer who is very
popular among teenagers. Ardhito started his career through the
music industry. He became known to the public after covering
songs on YouTube in 2013. In 2016, Ardhito released his first
single entitled The Sun. The song was included in his first mini
album, namely Ardhito Pramono in 2017.[4]

Ardhito made his debut in the acting world by playing the

character Kale in the film Nanti kita cerita tentang hari ini in
2020. With the success of Ardhito playing the character, his
name is increasingly known among teenagers. Plus he makes a
lot of songs related to teenagers who are in love and who are
heartbroken
But now in 2022, ardito was arrested by the police for drug
cases. Ardhito Pramono was arrested this morning at around
02.00 AM. He was arrested at his home in the Duren Sawit area,
East Jakarta.
During the arrest, the police found evidence of marijuana
weighing 4.80 grams and 20 pills of alprazolam.

Ardhito Pramono was then advised to undergo six months of

rehabilitation, according to the results of the assessment.
Despite being rehabilitated, Ardhito Pramono will still undergo
the legal process.
Ardhito Pramono was charged with Article 127 paragraph 1 of
Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a maximum
prison sentence of four years.

With the arrest, Ardhito apologized to all Indonesians for the

mistakes he had made and he promise not to use it again.

people in the world speak English. While another 1,000,000,000 are still learning English.
If we can communicate in English, we can contact people from all over the world. We can
talk about our ideas and opinions on Internet discussion groups. We can chat with other
interesting people to learn about their life and culture.
If we can communicate in English, we can travel more easily. English is spoken in more
than 100 countries. If we lost, we can ask directions or ask for help. Who knows, English
will save our life somewhere someday.
That is why we should make every effort possible to find somebody to speak with. Where
can we find people who can speak English with us? We can find them at school,
shopping mall, tourist destination, etc
Above all, don’t be afraid to speak English. We must try to speak, even if we make

How Corruption Occur

Corruption usually occurs because some individuals are willing to use

illicit means to maximize personal or corporate profit. And corruption are
problems that often occur from year to year. How does corruption happen? Does
corruption happen slowly, or all at once ?
When we hear the word corruption, we immediately think about political
issues, but have you ever thought that actually people have often practiced culture
of corruption from early age. For example, we know the term “rubber clock”
which is always not on time to make an appointment. This is example of small
corruption that we are not aware of. So don’t be surprised if there will be a lot of
corruptors who are very troubling.
Furthermore, exam cheating is also a form of corruption. Cheating is a
common thing done by students. Indeed cheating can give us a high value, but it
will reduce us ourselves, by cheating we certainly cannot get that knowledge
purely. If this is often done, the cheating action is carried out when an adult
student.
As an adult, he has a position in the government, in politics and in a other
positions when he works. Finally, the person concerned likes to hang out, cheat or
outsmart the budget to look for additional income. So the answer is yes corruption
happens slowly and because of habit.

What Causes Stress?

Stress is the emotional and physical strain caused by our response to pressure
from the outside world. We all wouldn’t want to stress, but it’s almost
impossible to live without some stress. Because all of our daily life maybe cause
stress.

Stress gives life some spice and excitement, but if stress gets out of control, it
may harm your health, your relationship, and your enjoyment of life. Stress can
cause both mental and physical symptoms. The mental symptoms of stress are
tension, irritability, inability to concentrate, feeling excessively tired, and trouble
sleeping. And the physical symptoms of stress are tight muscles that may cause
pain and trembling, sweating palms, difficulty breathing, headache, and a
pounding heart.
 Many addictions are linked to a stressful lifestyle, such as overeating, smoking,
drinking, and drug abuse. These are used as a temporary way of exceed stress.
But it just contribute to death and disability. Stress can make an asthma attack
worse and increase the danger of heart attactks, particularly if you are often
angry and mistrustful. Not only it, constant stress can increase blood pressure
and can increase the risk for stroke.
We can manage stress with humor and do our hobbies. Simple activity that we
can do to manage stress is waching a funny movie or do relaxing hobby such as
gardening and painting. So, don’t worry and be happy. Take easy your life, don’t
be a stress person.

Fox and A Cat

One day a cat and a fox were having a conversation. The fox,
who was a conceited creature, boasted how clever she was.
'Why, I know at least a hundred tricks to get away from our
mutual enemies, the dogs,' she said.

'I know only one trick to get away from dogs,' said the cat. 'You
should teach me some of yours!'

'Well, maybe some day, when I have the time, I may teach you a
few of the simpler ones,' replied the fox airily.
Just then they heard the barking of a pack of dogs in the
distance. The barking grew louder and louder - the dogs were
coming in their direction! At once the cat ran to the nearest tree
and climbed into its branches, well out of reach of any dog. 'This
is the trick I told you about, the only one I know,' said the cat.
'Which one of your hundred tricks are you going to use?'

The fox sat silently under the tree, wondering which trick she
should use. Before she could make up her mind, the dogs
arrived. They fell upon the fox and tore her to pieces.

Moral : A single plan that works is better than a hundred

Volcanic Eruptions

Volcanic eruptions are a process of the magma exiting from within the magma
chamber located inside the volcano. This happens because there is magma activity as
well as tectonic plate movement.
Volcanic eruptions are natural disasters because they carry magma, hot and cold lava,
dense ash, and others. As a result, the land around the volcano will be damaged,
disrupting the farming activities of the surrounding residents. Residents will also lose
livestock, homes, and other valuables.
Nevertheless, volcanic eruptions will bring benefits in the long term. Because the
volcanic ash that comes out will make the surrounding agricultural land fertile.
Materials from volcanic eruptions such as sand and stone can be used for new
housing developments and others. In addition, new jobs such as sand mining will be
opened so that people who lose their property can continue to work to obtain their
daily needs.

Flash Flood in German

On 18th of July 2021, German was attacked by flash flood which was
very extremely unusual and there were approximately 188 victims.
The flash flood itself was affected of bad weather such as heavy rain.
This case had gone within the last few days and noted as the worst
disaster in German in 6 decades. Moreover, after visiting the place,
Chancellor Merkel promised to give a lot of social assistance money. “We
are not ready for this” he said. He also gave an information that the
situation turned so terrible on 10th of July 2021. Therefore, the evacuation
team did not have enough time to rescue people. Furthermore, water
covered every street and so it seemed like a river and vehicles were swept
by the flood. The funeral area at Berchtesgadener Land suddenly changed
as a sea of mud. Finally, the police announced there were a bunch of
corpses found after the flood had receded.

The Ant and the Dove

One hot day, an ant was seeking for some water. After walking
around for a moment, she came to a spring. To reach the spring,
she had to climb up a blade of grass. While making her way up,
she slipped and fell unintentionally into the water.
She could have sunk if a dove up a nearby tree had not seen her.
Seeing that the ant was in trouble, the dove quickly put off a leaf
from a tree and dropped it immediately into the water near the
struggling ant. Then the ant moved towards the leaf and climbed
up there. Soon it carried her safely to dry ground.
Not long after at that, there was a hunter nearby who was
throwing out his net towards the dove, hoping to trap it in this
way.
Guessing what he should do, the ant quickly bit him on the heel.
Feeling the pain, the hunter dropped his net and the dove flew
away quickly from this net.
The morality: One good turn deserves another.
