WHAT IS BEST FOR TEENAGERS?

Once adolescents are of legal age and begin their university studies, many important decisions arise in
their lives that need to be clarified as quickly as possible: what they want to do with their future, where they
want to study, how they will organize their free time or even if it is better to move and live alone to have some
privacy or to stay and live with their parents and enjoy certain privileges as they have been doing since the
moment they were born. Many doubts assail them, but in my opinion, there is one of them that stands out above
the others; many of the young people who manage to enter into a university degree are clear about what they
want to do or even where to study it long before the moment in question and they manage well how to organize
themselves. Still, the issue of where to live is a problem that deserves to be quite well thought. The way I see it,
is better to live with your parents and in this essay, I will explain why.

One of the main factors to consider is privacy. When you live alone, it is logical having much more
freedom and privacy since you do not have anyone who can control you. Even so, many young people enjoy the
same privacy living with their parents since many times all they need to let you have privacy is trust. Another
factor to take into account is financial support. On one hand, if you live with your parents, you are lucky that all
the expenses will be on their account (electricity, gas, water, renting the apartment), so you can save more and
spend your money on the things you want. On the other hand, if you live alone, all the expenses are your
responsibility and you will have more problems to worry about every month. Last but not least it’s important to
discuss how housework affects study time. Living alone will make you spend most of your time, whether you
want to or not, doing housework, so you will have less time to devote to your studies. In contrast, living with
your parents will allow you to share the different tasks around the house so you can have more time to dedicate
to whatever you want to do.

That is why I strongly defend the idea of living with your parents while you are in university. It is more
comfortable for teenagers to live with their parents since they have much more time to dedicate to their studies,
they do not assume more responsibilities, by having to pay the bills and they will always have that minimum
comfort and freedom they want. After all, it is never too late to move out and I consider it is better not to take on
many more responsibilities than the ones you already have while in college.
