Murder of UST Student, Mark Welson Chua

The documentary video is all Mark Welson Chua. He is described as a son, a

student, and a hero who chooses to go against the corrupt system of the Reserve
Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) in his university. The key point of this
documentary is what he did to change the system of ROTC but end up getting
murdered by the officers. The documentary shows how dedicated mark is and also,
they reenact what happen to him to reveal the truth of his death.
One of the main reasons for his death is that he wrote a letter to the office of
the school regarding bribery, hazing, and harassment in ROTC because of this, the
officials in ROTC planned to silence him. As they carry out the plan, they made
Mark think that what they were doing was all part of the initiation. With this, the
officials in ROTC were relieved of their positions and were reinstated at a later
date which made Mark more determined to chase them out of the system.
I think he is a fearless person knowing that he knows that there's someone
who what to kill him but still he fights on what he believes is the best at that time
but in the same way he should have thought of a better approach to stop it, in my
opinion. There has to be a way he might still be alive today. It was difficult for his
parents and relatives to hear his story. They don't want a hero; instead, they need
their most beloved son. Although it is a sad story it made a great impact on our
ROTC in this day in-behalf of that many people regard him as a hero for his efforts
to expose the system. He has done a good job of defying the ROTC's "norms."
I got some goosebumps and I also cry while watching the documentary
considering this happen in real life and also, they did that inside the school. I also
feel bad for mark because all he wants is a change but ends up being killed.
Moreover, I think that one of the suspects may be a psychopath who pushed them
all to carry out the plan. They could have done worse if they didn't have a
conscience, but it does not change the fact that the victim was in excruciating pain
while being suffocated to death.
The last part of the story is remarkable because mark has a kind and
considerate parent, I got to praise his parent for raising him well. I was touched
when his father says this to one of the suspects "this might be the end for me, but I
hope it will be a new life for you" his father gave him another chance for him to
change. Moreover, I was thinking that this may be the reason why some people
don't want to talk or speak up about corruption because they might get killed. In
addition to that corruption is still happening up to these days. We still don’t get the
justice that everyone deserve.
