DIALOGUE BETWEEN A PHARMACIST AND A CLIENT

Prologue.

A 25-year-old mother came to take her child to a pediatrician to check the condition
of her son 2-year-old. Mother's son "ID" complained of shortness of breath, coughing up
phlegm, and decreased appetite since yesterday afternoon. After the child was examined by a
specialist, the mother's child "ID" was diagnosed with mild bronchopneumonia. The
specialist then gave the mother's child "ID" nebulizer therapy (steam therapy) for one
administration and continued by observing the condition of the mother's child "ID" for
approximately one hour. After observing and seeing that the condition of the child of
Mother's "ID" has improved, the doctor allowed her to go home and continue with outpatient
treatment. The doctor gives a prescription for home remedies. The prescription given by the
doctor contained concoction drugs and syrup, in the prescription drug contained three kinds
of drugs (triamcinolone 3 mg, lapifed 10 mg, and lactrin 1/3) and azithromycin syrup.

Dialogue.

A: Good morning …
B: Good morning, how can I help you?
A: Yes, earlier I took my child for treatment to a pediatrician, then the doctor gave
me this prescription. Is here there this medicine? Please help me to get this
medicine.
B: Let me see! (Read the prescription)
Okay, I think we have it. Let me get that for you.
A: Oh, thank God. You are the fifth pharmacist that I have asked for it today.
B: Oh, I’m glad that we can help you. Please waiting for the medicine.
(After 10 minutes passed, she didn't get called by the pharmacist, She started to
feel anxious and annoyed, then she asked the pharmacist again for her medicine).
A: Excuse me, sorry to interrupt again.
B: Yes, anything else can I help you?
A: Sorry, I've been waiting a long time. Hasn't the medicine been prepared yet,
miss? Because I haven't been called.
B: Yes, sorry wait for the long. We are still preparing your medicine, please wait,
because there are other medicines that must also be prepared.
A: Why is it taking so long, even though from the prescription the doctor gave me,
I was only looking for 3 types of medicine?
B: Yes, there are only 3 types of medicine prescribed by the doctor, but these
medicines need to be mixed and made into one, so it takes a long time, ma'am.
And also we are still preparing our client's medication which was previously
waiting.
A: But does it really take that long?
B: Yes, so please be patient. When the medicine is finished, we will call your's
name.
A: Yes, but please hurry up a bit, because I have to go home quickly, I'm worried
about my child's condition.
B: Okay!
(With a feeling of worry and annoyance, mother "ID" is waiting again).
(After 10 minutes, Mother's "ID" was called by the pharmacist).
B: Recipes in the name of "Dananjaya"
(Ida's child's name was called three times)
A: Yes, I am.
B: Yes, please go inside, I will explain a little about your child's medicine.
B: Yes (goes to the pharmacist's office)
Once in the pharmacist's room
B: Sorry in advance who am I talking?
A: I’am Ida, Dananjaya’s mother.
B: Hi, first of all, let me introduce my name, Ayu, the pharmacist at this pharmacy.
First of all, I apologize to you, if there was a slight misunderstanding when you
were waiting for the medicine, which might have taken you too long, which
made you a little uncomfortable.
A: Oh yeah sorry if I've made the situation complicated. I was just worried about
my son who was sick so I panicked and then got a little annoyed that he didn't
get called.
B: Yes, I apologize for the inconvenience. Please understand because the medicine
in the recipe that you asked for is a concoction recipe that we have to mix first,
we mix 3 types of medicine so that it makes 1 capsule which will be drink by
the your child. So I ask for understanding from you about the delay.
A: Oh that's right, I'm sorry too, if I had been told earlier that the medicine I asked
for took a long time for the compounding process, then I would have waited
more patiently.
B: Yes, thanks for your understanding.
A: You’re welcome.
B: Well, then we back to the focus recipe for your child.
Here I will explain the types of drugs and the rules for using them.
A: Yes please
B: There is a powdered drug in the capsule. This medicine has 3 medicinal
ingredients, namely cough, cold and inflammation medicines, all mixed in this
one capsule.
A: Sorry, my child is still small, she can't take capsules like this. How do you do
it?
B: Yes, that's okay, for the method of administering the drug, the capsule can be
opened and the powder inside can be dissolved in the child's drinking water,
then drunk. Then as a rule, this drug is taken 3 x 1 capsule.
The day after eating. If the cough and cold have disappeared, this drug can be
stopped.
A: Okay
B: Does that mean it's clear? Do you have any more questions about this capsule
medicine?
A: Can I mix this medicine into my child's milk or not?
B: If it is mixed with milk, I suggest not the mother, because milk can reduce and
even neutralize some of the effects of the drug, so it is possible that the effect of
this drug will also decrease if it is mixed with milk.
A: Oh, that's right, okay, I'll just mix it with drinking water, that's okay.
B: Yes, that means it's clear, right?
Do you have any questions regarding the concoction of medicine?
A: No, I think very clear.
B: Okay, then I'll continue with the syrup. This is azithromycin syrup. This drug is
an antibiotic drug, for the rules of use this drug is taken 3 times 1 teaspoon a
day.
A: Okay …
B: So this drug must be taken until this drug runs out because it contains
antibiotics so that drug resistance does not occur in the future, it is expected to
take this drug until it runs out and according to the dose given..
A: Yes, may I know what drug resistance is?
B: Drug resistance is a condition in the body when antibodies cannot kill bacteria
or viruses that cause infections in the body due to repeated administration of
antibiotics without completing the drug therapy.
A: Oh, I see, then okay, I will spend the appropriate dose of this drug to my child.
B: Yes, please give this medicine exactly according to the dose and time/time of
drug administration.
A: Okay Thank you for your information. How much do I have to pay?
B: Total cost Rp. 150.000.
A: Here is the money (giving the money)
B: Here is your medicine (giving the medicine)
A: Thank you for your help, have a nice day!
B: You’re Welcome, I hope your son gets well soon. Healthy with Sindu Raja
Pharmacy.
After Mrs. Ida finished making payments and received the medicine, Mrs. Ida then
rushed home with the medicine.
