• Swings, slides, and climbing equipment have different safety concerns. And some kinds of equipment are not safe for playgrounds,
no matter how careful they are.
• Swing
• Kids should never ride with more than one child to a swing to avoid accident. Swings are designed to safely hold only one person.
Kids should always sit in the swing, not stand or kneel. They should hold on tightly with both hands while swinging, and when
finished swinging, stop the swing completely before getting off.
• Slides
• Children should take one step at a time and hold onto the handrail when climbing the ladder to the top of the slide. They should
not climb up the sliding board itself to get to the top to avoid falling.

• Bad Practice:
• Demonstrate the dangers when kids are not following the proper use of the equipment. They will fall and get hurt or fractured.
This is to increase the parent’s adherence in guiding their kids to emphasize the correct use.

higher than their height if they fall it will cause them serious injuries. Ensure that children use
age-appropriate playground equipment. Same piece of equipment can be safe for older kids but
unsafe for younger.
