Communication Process,
Principles , and Ethics

Instructions: Provide a scenario answering the question “When is it best to

use written or oral communication?”

Scenario: Here’s the scenario: me and my classmate will be doing a group activity on
a specific subject but since we can’t meet face to face to discuss it because some of us
aren’t allowed to go outside for various reason, such as not being fully vaccinated or
receiving no vaccine at all, or because our parents have forbidden us. However , we
must do brainstorming and idea exchange as part of part activities. We have to make a
report or give a presentation on the topic that has been assigned to us. Our first step will
be to start a group conversation in messenger, as this is the simplest and most
convenient way for us to communicate. We are now beginning to discuss our ideas in
order to build a great presentation for our activity. Others are presenting their views on
the major issue, while others are tasked with presenting the supporting arguments that
will help us achieve our objective.
Meanwhile, we decide to hold a conference call to properly express our views to each
other’s ideas, but at the conclusion of the talk, we fully comprehend each other’s
arguments. Some are having internet connection problems, so we can’t join the
conference call; all we can do is express our thoughts and arguments in the chat box. At
the completion of the day, we have summary of our thoughts present our ideas and
report to our online class, Even when we are unable to interact face to face there are
other method to communicate with one another.

My Decision

Our decision is to rely more on verbal communication because we

comprehend and communicate better in this approach. We
preferred to speak directly, even on a conference call, so that we
could be transparent about our objectives, goals, and strategies.
