Good morning viewers, you are watching sports news on ABCDE with me Alberto Pasaribu.
Today we will talk about Moto GP Mandalika 2022, and also the role of Indonesia in
motorsports. Viewers, before we talk about the 2022 Moto GP Mandalika, previously Indonesia
already had a racing circuit before the Mandalika circuit was built. Indonesia already has a
motorcycle racing circuit that was used to host the Moto GP in 1996 and 1997. The race was
held at the Sentul International Circuit located in Babakan Madang, Bogor, West Java. The
circuit was built in 1990 by President Suharto, and was completed in 1993.

Then the question arises, why did Indonesia participate in the Moto GP for only two years? As
we know, in 1998 Indonesia experienced a period of reform, President Suharto stepped down
from office and Indonesia also experienced inflation. So the government does not have the funds
to carry out maintenance. So that the sentul circuit is very dirty and a lot of asphalt is damaged,
causing the sentul circuit to be no longer suitable for use for Moto GP race. However, when the
Indonesian economy improved, the government only repairs some sentul circuits. So that the
circuit is only used for motorcycle racing in the country.

But why did the government build the Mandalika circuit? The government considers that the
repair of the Sentul circuit is no longer relevant because the location of the Sentul circuit is in the
middle of the city and it will take a long time to repair it. And also the sentul circuit does not
have a large area to develop. Therefore, the government built the Mandalika circuit which was
built in a state-owned economic area, so it will have a positive impact on the people living on the
island of lombok. Job opportunities will be wide open and this will improve the community's
economy and the Mandalika circuit is built with a view that leads to the beautiful Lombok beach.
This will increase the number of tourists who will visit Lombok to watch the Moto GP race
while seeing beautiful and clean beach views.

Then, how is Indonesia's preparation ahead of the 2022 Manadalika Moto GP? The 2022 Moto
GP Pre-Season Test at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, lasts for three days on 11-13 February.
The pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit leaves a lot of stories for the riders. This is natural
because the Mandalika Circuit is a new thing for all racers. One of the problems on the first day
of pre-season testing was the cleanliness of the track. The racers highlight the dirtiness of the
track with a lot of dust on the asphalt. The first day's test had stopped after only an hour. The
organizer cleans the track from dust and dirt. The track conditions were much better on the
second and third days. However, there are still some places that are dirty and dusty. Dorna as the
person in charge of the 2022 Moto GP requested that the Mandalika circuit track be re-paved in
several parts.
Meanwhile, the Mandalika Moto GP will be held on March 18-20 at the Mandalika Circuit. The
Mandalika Circuit, whose full name is Pertamina Mandalika International Road Circuit, has a
length of 4.3 kilometers, a width of 15 meters and 17 bends. There are a total of four race series
that will be held at the Mandalika Circuit this weekend. In addition to the MotoGP class, there
will be Moto2, Moto3 and Asia Talent Cup races. The Mandalika MotoGP race will be held for
27 laps.

And if you want to buy a ticket to watch Moto GP Mandalika, you can buy it at tiket.com,
pertamina application, or on the official Mandalika website, namely www.mandalikatiket.com
