1.0 Introduction
As the Covid-19 pandemic started 2 years ago, it has greatly impacted the tourism industry all around
the globe as tourist attraction areas have been closed with strict lockdown measures in place as a
response to deal with the pandemic. With progress the virus outbreak has been handled well so far,
which resulted in tourist attraction places such as theme parks to slowly open with proper standard
operating procedures in place. With that, the Sunway Lagoon E-guide application is deemed as a
suitable start for an interactive walkthrough application for tourists that would like to visit Sunway
Lagoon theme park. The Sunway Lagoon E-Guide will be able to act as a map of the park to provide
ease of navigation, show available fast-food restaurants in the park, providing users with details of
the particular place, ticket purchasing functionality, getting users to know about events or any special
activities while also giving users the opportunity to provide feedback regarding the application.

2.0 Problem Statement

The recent covid-19 cases have restricted the movement and traumatized many customers
in general, especially with the new variant of coronavirus known as Omicron. Some customers
were even scared to venture into crowded areas or any entertainment places such as theme parks,
swimming pools that would make them vulnerable to the virus through purchasing the tickets
over the counter, having the theme park brochures handed over by the employee and many other
variables that could leave the public people vulnerable.

On top of that, the attraction industry has begun to see a major decline of 20-40% in the
amount of visitors at the theme parks (Malek, N. H., 2020).If such a decline in visitors were to be
left ongoing, it would leave long-term damage to the business especially when the issue is not
handled in an efficient manner.

In addition, most of the visitors and tourists who tent to visit Sunway Lagoon Malaysia often felt
disappointed because some of the rides or facilities which wanted to be visited by the tourist
might be under maintenance or being upgraded. This restricts the visitors' experience and reduces
the image of Sunway Lagoon towards foreign tourists. According to Trip advisor, some of the
customers of Sunway Lagoon Malaysia also stated that they have waited in long queues to enjoy
a certain ride in certain theme parks. Some of them spent extra to purchase the express ticket had
also stuck in long queues. This had caused Sunway Lagoon to gain some bad reviews.

Hence, some tourists also mentioned that the lack of detail in a printed map brochure had caused
confusion on determining the proper way to a theme park (Levinia T, 2016). The 88 acres area of
Sunway Lagoon makes it hard for visitors and tourists to navigate from one park to another park.
Their only option is to walk through the navigation board or to follow the printed map which
makes them confusing.

3.0 Objective of the Application

- To ensure Sunway Lagoon geographical information is more available to the general
population that uses the theme park.
- To offer facilities as well as equipment details in a much more organized and user-
friendly manner.
- To save cost on printing the brochures since most people will have their own devices to
enter the theme park due to the current pandemic
- To aid Sunway Lagoon customers in locating their chosen location by using interactive
mapping.
- To be used as a promotional tool to encourage many people in enjoying the theme park.
- To encourage users to purchase tickets online, making the process contactless.
