Day 1: Listening – Form Completion
Form Completion là một dạng bài thường gặp trong IELTS Listening và hôm nay
chúng ta cùng bắt đầu thực hiện các bước làm bài và luyện tập nhé!
1. Form Completion trong IELTS Listening là gì?
Đây là dạng Điền vào biểu mẫu, form là biểu mẫu, completion là điền vào. Thông
thường dạng Form Compeltion hay xuất hiện ở Section 1 của bài thi Listening. Sẽ
bao gồm 1 đoạn hội thoại giữa 2 người nói chuyện qua điện thoại, thường có thể là
đặt phòng khách sạn, hỏi về 1 tour du lịch, đặt sảnh tiệc, phỏng vấn 1 công việc nào
nó để apply, gọi lên tổng đài hỏi về một thứ gì đó...
Trước khi làm bài cần phải chú ý SỐ LƯỢNG từ cần điền vào. Bạn hãy chú ý đề bài
có thể yêu cầu ONE WORD ONLY hoặc NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS (đây
là giới hạn số từ bạn được điền). Nếu bạn ghi đáp án vượt quá số lượng từ được điền
thì đáp án của bạn vẫn sẽ tính là Sai. Và bạn cũng hãy để ý trong bài nếu yêu cầu có
xuất hiện ‘from the text’ thì nghĩa là bạn không được thay đổi từ ở trong bài đọc,
nhiệm vụ của bài chỉ cần tìm chính xác từ đó và điền vô Answer Sheet thôi nhé!

2. Các bước làm bài Form Completion
Bước 1: Khoanh tròn số từ cần điền
Như đã nhắc đến ở trên, các bạn cần xác định rõ số từ và số number cần điền. Lấy
ví dụ trong đề bài có ghi “ONE WORD ONLY - Điền một từ duy nhất” ONE WORD
AND/OR A NUMBER - Điền một từ và/ hoặc một số. Ví dụ 2002 cũng được tính
là 1 từ, 1st December được tính là 1 từ và 1 số, chữ “st” ko tính.
Tương tự, NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS AND/OR A NUMBER - Điền không
quá hai từ và/hoặc một số. Thường trước khi làm bài chúng ta nên ghi ra, ví dụ One
word Only thì ghi số 1 to khổng lồ rồi khoanh tròn lại trên đầu bài cho dễ nhớ.
Ví dụ bài này, mình cần điền “ONE WORD AND/OR A NUMBER” thì ta cần điền
1 từ hoặc 1 số, hoặc là Một từ và một số.
Bước 2: Đọc khoảng trống + Gạch chân keywords

Ở mỗi khoảng trống, cần điền vào loại từ gì, loại từ gì thích hợp ví dụ như verb,
noun, adv, adj... Nếu bạn tinh tế hơn, sẽ nhận ra từ cần điền maybe đa số là noun
(danh từ), vậy xác định rõ hơn từ cần điền là 1 cái tên (tên nhà hàng, nhân vật, khách
sạn, công viên, con đường), con số (số điện thoại, số nhà, số postcode,...), hay một
địa danh, màu sắc,....
Vị trí số 1 cần điền Nationality tức là quốc tịch của người nói, Vị trí số 2 sau antique
(adj) thì phải là một (n), mà antique nghĩa là cổ nên theo sau là một đồ vật (thing) gì
đó. Vị trí số 3 là cần điền tên căn hộ đó. Vị trí số 4 cần điền vào số tiền với đơn vị
tiền tệ là pounds. Vị trí số 5 và 6 điền một danh từ, nhưng số 5 điền danh từ số ít vì
có mạo từ “a”. Vị trí số 7 điền một nơi chốn vì có từ chỉ vị trí “outside”. Vị trí số 9

điền từ chỉ màu sắc cho mái tóc của nhân vật “he”. Vị trí số 10 điền một dãy số (hoặc
bao gồm cả chữ nữa), hình thức là người đọc sẽ đánh vần.
Song song với việc đó, chúng ta sẽ tìm và gạch chân các keywords trong form, gạch
chân những từ mang tính giúp bạn nghe từ cần điền tốt hơn, những từ nào nổi bật,
mang thông tin quan trọng trong câu, chúng sẽ giúp chúng ta tìm thông tin trong bài
nghe và điền thông tin vào khoảng trống. Đọc từ khóa của Listening không phức tạp
như ở Reading, vì bạn không có nhiều thời gian mà sẽ nghe luôn ngay sau đó khoảng
30s – 1 phút, cho nên không cần phức tạp nhiều, đọc đơn giản thôi, nhanh chóng,
nhé!
Bước 3: Lựa chọn đáp án + Đọc kỹ nhừng từ vệ tinh
Theo mình nên tối giản các bước làm Listening sao cho ngắn gọn và đơn giản nhất
nên phần chuẩn bị càng ít bước càng tốt, phần còn lại là để đôi tai bạn quyết định.
Hãy lưu ý và nghe kỹ những từ xuất hiện xung quanh khoảng trống, những giới từ
ví dụ như of, about, for.... Đây là những từ quan trọng có thể nghe trong bài audio,
thông thường những giới từ (khoảng 60%) sẽ giữ nguyên trong bài audio, nên cần
nghe kỹ và ghi nhớ giới từ và những từ xung quanh khoảng trống (mình gọi là những
từ vệ tinh).
Ví dụ trong bài này, cần chú ý đến những từ vệ tinh như “of the...”, “some...”, “a...”,
“an....”, “personal use of...”

Bước 4: Kiểm tra đáp án
Kiểm tra xem từ này có cần “s” hay không, kiểm tra lại từ mình đã điền đã phù hợp
với loại từ cần điền vào chưa.
Kiểm tra xem đáp án mình điền vào là đáp án cuối cùng hay chưa, trong băng thường
sẽ xuất hiện những đáp án gây nhiễu để khó xác định được đáp án chính xác, các
bạn hãy chú ý lắng nghe những từ nối như “but”, “however”, “so”...
Kiểm tra xem đáp án mình ghi trong tờ đề khớp với đáp án trong “answer sheet”
chưa, chính tả đúng chưa...
Nếu phân vân giữa 2 đáp án, thì nên nhìn những đáp án xung quanh để lựa chọn, khả
năng đúng sẽ cao hơn, hoặc dùng phương pháp loại trừ vào phút cuối.
Đoạn Transcript sau đây bạn thử đọc và xem có bao nhiêu từ “but”, và có bao nhiêu
từ “but” làm thay đổi nghĩa của câu nhé!

Well you need to bring a photo with you (10). Having said that it will be also a good
idea for you to attach it to your application. This will help us to distinguish your

Day 2: Map/Plan Labelling
1. Kiến thức chung
Trong câu hỏi này bạn cần phải điền một từ hoặc 1 cụm từ phù hợp từ danh sách để
hoàn thành bài maps. Thông thường, dạng bài map labelling sẽ xuất hiện ở section
2 và là một dạng bài rất “khoai” với những bạn nào dễ bị lost track, mù phương
hướng, mù đường, dễ mất tập trung. Đây cũng là dạng khá ít ra trong Section 2 hơn
những dạng bài khác, nhưng một khi đã ra thì thí sinh rất sợ gặp dạng này vì dễ mất
điểm, sai 1 câu hoặc mất tập trung 1 câu thôi là những câu khác cũng đi luôn.
Dạng bài nãy sẽ bao gồm 1 tờ maps (kiểu bản đồ đơn giản) và đục lỗ những vị trí,
tên các phòng, tên nơi chốn để cho các bạn tìm đáp án mà điền vào. Nếu có tâm
maps sẽ cho 1 cái la bàn chỉ Đông tây Nam bắc nhỏ nhỏ ở góc trái/phải để chúng ta
đỡ lạc phương hướng cho ai mù đường. Nếu không thì để làm thế nào không bị mất
phương hướng mình sẽ chỉ cho các bạn ở phần bên dưới sau. Nhiệm vụ của chúng
ta là chỉ theo audio, thấy họ đang miêu tả vị trí của chỗ nào thì nghe kỹ rồi chọn
đúng, nghe thì có vẻ đơn giản nhưng một khi đã sai câu đầu hoặc mất tập trung 1
câu thôi, thì bạn sẽ rất dễ bị hoảng ở những câu sau, vì audio họ đọc 1 lượt không có
quãng nghỉ lâu, nên key cho bài map này là phải CỰC KỲ TẬP TRUNG và biết
người ta đang nói tới đâu và mình đang ở đâu.

2. Các bước làm bài
Bước 1: Vẽ 4 hướng + khoanh tròn tên địa danh xung quanh
Nếu là bài bản đồ, thì các bạn có thể vẽ một cái la bàn thật to, đè lên maps, đè lên
chữ luôn để cho dễ đi phương hướng, không bị lạc. Như hình bên dưới:
Cho dễ nhớ là chữ “NEWS” theo thự tứ viết giống chữ “Z”.
Sau đó khoanh tròn những tên địa danh, tên đường, sao cho thật nổi bật để không bị
“lạc” khi người ta chỉ đường, bạn cố gắng dành 30 giây trước khi vào bài nghe nhìn
và học thuộc bản đồ là tốt nhất, nhớ tên đường, nhớ tên địa danh xung quanh.
Bước 2: Nghe theo đường bút chì
Khi audio chạy, bạn lấy cây bút chì vẽ theo đường họ hướng dẫn, luôn để đầu bút
chì bắt đầu từ điểm xuất phát, và hãy nghe xem ĐIỂM XUẤT PHÁT là điểm nào,
nằm ở đâu. Và sau khi nghe được đáp án 1 rồi, thì để đầu bút chì tiếp ở vị trí 1 luôn
hay lại quay trở về điểm xuất phát, phải nghe cho rõ. Luôn men theo đường bút chì
để không bị lạc đường, theo hình sau:
Bước 3: Chọn đáp án
Có một điều mình luôn làm khi chọn đáp án đó là vừa chọn vừa phải loại trừ đáp án
sai? Như thế nào? Đó là ghi thẳng vào bản đồ đáp án mình chọn luôn, nhưng không
ghi chữ mà ghi số.
Ví dụ như sau:
 Vị trí D sẽ ghi luôn câu 17, như vậy loại trừ được 1 vị trí D
 Tương tự vị trí G cho câu 18
 Và nếu vị trí nào mình biết người ta lừa, nhắc đến trong Audio nhưng không
phải đáp án thì gạch bỏ bằng dấu “x” như vị trí “I” trong hình.
Vậy là loại trừ được kha khá đáp án rồi đó!
3. Một số lưu ý
Một số từ vựng bạn nên học để làm bài dạng này cho hiệu quả:

Welcome all of you. Can everybody you see and hear me? Good. I'm David your
guide for this tour of the Mangrove Tree resort. I'll start today with some general
background information. As there have been a number of changes made. I printed
the map of the new complex for each of you and I just like to point out where
everything is, and then you can take a look at it for yourself. Basically the best
feature of our new location is that we have our own private beach, which is on the
left and accessible directly from the hotel. Now we're standing at the information
desk and I'm going to look at the views in each direction. Out to the West there’s a
gift shop where guests can shop for small trinkets made by local villagers from shells
and starfish. If you look carefully up there on the other side of the restaurant, there's
a state of the art spa facility (11), just next to the grove of palm trees, where guests
can have treatments including massage or detoxify their body in the steam room. A
major drawback of our previous hotel complex was that there was no room for an
onsite helicopter port, which meant that our most important guests were forced to
commute from the local airport. As we were unable to construct a suitable facility
on the eastern side, we have constructed a large heliport to the north. Guests wishing
to stretch their legs after a long flight can simply head south to the tennis courts (13)
for a match on our splendidly manicured courts. Now if you look in front of you
there's a swimming pool in the centre (14) equipped with slides and a diving board,
which is the main feature of the new complex and is overlooked by all of the other
buildings. We have decided to maintain the family friendly status of our original
hotel. However, from guests, we have come to realize that parents also enjoytime to
relax without having to look after their children. Therefore we have constructed a
fun play centre where parents can leave their children with a trained childminder and
take some time for themselves. This facility is located just to the north of the
swimming pool (15) and is covered with a small canopy to protect the children from
the sun. Many of our working guests will require access to a quiet space for work. If
you direct them just south of the swimming pool, theywill discover our conference
centre (16) which comes complete with meeting rooms offices and Wi-Fi access. In
order to access the Wi-Fi network, they should simply report to the information desk
where an assistant will provide them with a personal password. This desk is situated
just between the conference centre and the beach. Finally, the complex also contains
a large sports centre where guests can enjoy our gym facilities and take part in
sessions for yoga and pilots.
Overlooking the swimming pool from the south east, the centre offers stunning
views of the entire complex and across the ocean (17).
Day 3: Multiple Choice

Multiple Choice là dạng bài trắc nghiệm của IELTS Listening thường xuất hiện trong
Section 3, là dạng dễ sai nhất và dễ mất tập trung nhất vì lượng thông tin trong câu
hỏi quá nhiều trong khi lượng thời gian để đọc quá ít, dẫn đến tình trạng các bạn thí
sinh chưa kịp đọc câu hỏi xong đã vô bài nghe, và không thể hình thành thói quen
vừa nghe vừa đọc – hiểu câu hỏi vừa chọn đáp án đúng.
Để giải quyết nỗi lo lắng này của các bạn, mình sẽ suggest 1 số cách làm, để các bạn
có thể lựa chọn cách nào phù hợp với bản thân bạn thì dùng cách đó luyện tập cho
dạng bài này. Vì đây là một dạng khó, dễ sai.

2. Các lưu ý khi làm bài

Đầu tiên: Đọc thật nhanh câu hỏi và phân loại
Vì Multiple Choice có rất nhiều câu hỏi, mà mỗi câu hỏi lại có cả 3 câu trả lời nên
đòi hỏi tốc độ đọc của bạn phải nhanh. Trong khi đọc câu hỏi tiêu đề, hãy gạch chân
keywords. Tiếp theo đọc đến 3 đáp án, thông thường 3 đáp án này sẽ có chung 1 yếu
tố gì đó (thường là những từ/cụm từ ở đầu hoặc cuối câu, cùng nói về một điều gì
đó), bạn có thể bỏ qua không cần đọc. Cái cần đọc là NHỮNG ĐIỂM KHÁC NHAU
của 3 đáp án. Làm sao tìm ra 1-2 từ spotlight của mỗi đáp án, để khi nhắc đến từ đó
là biết chắc chắn đó là đáp án A chứ không phải là B hay C.
Ví dụ câu số 34 trong hình, đọc câu hỏi, khoanh ngay từ khóa là impact, outside
environment, guest [tác động (của) môi trường bên ngoài (đến) khách] khi nghe chỉ
cần chú ý vào 3 từ khóa đã khoanh. Còn về phần câu trả lời, bạn thấy 3 đáp án đều
có từ “It has” vậy thì bỏ qua, không cần đọc. Và từ “effect”, bỏ qua luôn không cần
đọc.
Gạch chân những YẾU TỐ KHÁC NHAU như considerable, limited, no effect. Khi
nghe nếu thấy audio nó paraphrase từ nào trong 3 từ này, và ý nghĩa match với nội
dung đang tìm, thì đó là đáp án.
Lưu ý: Làm thế nào để không bị lost trong Multiple Choice
Nếu bạn nào nghe nhiều sẽ để ý, trong Multiple Choice họ luôn biết cách cho chúng
ta không bị lost track. Đó là thường họ sẽ chỉ paraphrase đáp án A, B, C. Còn phần
câu hỏi đa phần audio sẽ cố gắng giữ nguyên (không giống 100%) nhưng mà chắc
chắn sẽ giữ nguyên đọc y chang 1 số từ vựng trong đấy để ngườii thí sinh biết là họ
đang nói đến câu nào.

Câu 21, trong transcript đó là “Irene, I'm really impressed by how hard working you

Và How did Jen and Bill feel about Linda thì phải là Jen và Bill cùng “feel” chứ ví
dụ Jen feel bad, Bill feel good thì không được vì 2 người đó không feel giống nhau
rồi. Thế nào sau đó 1 trong 2 đứa sẽ thuyết phục đứa kia theo ý của mình và đứa còn

Nên nghe nhiều các bạn tự cho bản thân kinh nghiệm nhé.
Một cách làm khác đó là bạn chọn phương pháp note-taking, tức là trong quá trình
nghe audio thì sẽ không kiểu vừa nghe – vừa đọc đáp án rồi chọn. Mà là nghe để
hiểu nội dung, rồi note lại ra đề những từ khóa quan trọng mình nghe được, sau đó
lúc 10 phút cuối giờ, quay lại đọc những note-taking của mình lúc nãy note, so sánh
với đáp án thấy nào hợp lý rồi chọn. Tuy nhiên sợ những bạn chữ quá xấu hoặc não
cá vàng, viết xong 10 phút nhìn lại không hiểu gì hết thì nguy.
À một còn điều nữa đó là có nhiều bạn sau khi chọn đáp án xong nhìn lại tờ answer
sheet, thấy 3 câu liên tiếp đều cùng 1 đáp án giống nhau, ví dụ 1A 2A 3A thì maybe
khả năng cao là 1 trong 3 câu có vấn đề nên sửa. Hmm nhiều khi cũng đúng mà
nhiều khi lại không đúng, nhưng mình thấy khả năng bạn sai lên đến hơn 50%, nên
có thể dò kỹ lại nhé trước khi nộp bài.

OK let's move on. You might ask how do these time zones affect our lives. Well,
let's start at the beginning. Everyone is brought into this world as a present hedonist
(36).
No exceptions. Our initial needs and demands to be warm, secure, fed and watered
all stemmed from the present moment. But things change when we enter formal
education.
We're taught to stop existing in the moment and to begin thinking about future
outcomes.
But did you know that every nine seconds, a child in the USA drops out of school.
For boys, the rate is much higher than for girls (37). We could easily say: “Oh well
boys just aren't as bright as girls”. But the evidence doesn't support this. A recent
study states that boys in America, by the age of 21, have spent 10.000 hours playing
video games.
The research suggests that they'll never fit in the traditional classroom, because these
boys require a situation where they have the ability to manage their own learning
environment. Now let's look at the way we do prevention education. All prevention
education is aimed at a future time zone. We say don't smoke or you'll get cancer.
Get good grades or you won't get a good job, but with present orientated kids, that
just doesn't work. Although they understand the potentially negative consequences
of their actions, they persist with the behavior, because they're not living for the
future (38).
They're in the moment right now. We can't use logic and it's no use reminding them
of potential fallout from their decisions or previous errors of judgment. We've got to
get in their minds just as they're about to make a choice. Time perspectives make a
big difference in how we value and use our time. When Americans are asked how
busy they are, the vast majority report being busier than ever before. They admit to
sacrificing their relationships, personal time and a good night's sleep for their
success. Twenty years ago, 60 percent of Americans had sit down dinners with their
families, and now only 20 percent do. But when they're asked what they would do
with an eight day week they say: Oh that'd be great. They would spend that time
laboring away to achieve more
(39). They're constantly trying to get ahead, to get toward a future point of happiness.
So it's really important to be aware of how other people think about time. We tend
to think: “Oh that person's really irresponsible or that guy's power hungry”, but often
what we're looking at is not fundamental differences of personality but really just
different ways of thinking about time. Seeing these conflicts as differences in time
perspective rather than distinctions of character, can facilitate more effective
cooperation between people (40) and get the most out of each person's individual
strengths.

It's about 15 minutes away, which is frustrating because it's too far to walk from my

No, it's an independent family run store, which is good because they're really
supportive and eager to help me with the information I need.
How do you find the theoretical aspect of the school work?
I find the practical work far more interesting, but my tutors are really enthusiastic
and I get on well with my classmates, which makes the lessons a lot more enjoyable.
Also, I recently found out that I can complete the theoretical aspects of the course
within one year (22), because of the practical experience I'm getting.
Wow that's great.
I know, I was so relieved. I find the theory pretty hard to understand. So I was really
worried about taking it for another year.
Do you get assessed every term or just once at the end of each academic year?
No. There's an assessment every term, which is great because it really takes the
pressure off. In the first term it's really relaxed. You conduct your own experiments
on your topic of choice, and then everyone in your class assesses each other as a
practical exercise (23). It's just a shame that practical experience doesn't count
towards the grades.
Yes that's true. Anyway enough about me. What are you studying?
Oh I'm not sure what I want to study yet, but I've been making inquiries about the
English language course.
Do you know what career path you're interested in following?
Since Spanish is my first language. I thought that studying English would be really
beneficial if I decided to apply for a job in England. I really enjoy art and I'm very
creative but I don't think that becoming an artist is a very practical choice. I was
thinking of using my passion for art in a different way. Like working as a curator
in an art exhibition, for example (24)
Wow that sounds really interesting. I think you'd be good at that.
The problem is that the course is very expensive, as you have to buy materials
yourself and they don't offer any scholarships to cover expenses. I need to order a
catalogue of the courses (25) on offer, so I can see if there are any other modules
that might perhaps be cheaper to study.

on a project with other students and you want to discuss things with each other, you

OK let's move on. You might ask how do these time zones affect our lives. Well,
let's start at the beginning. Everyone is brought into this world as a present hedonist
(36).
No exceptions. Our initial needs and demands to be warm, secure, fed and watered
all stemmed from the present moment. But things change when we enter formal
education.
We're taught to stop existing in the moment and to begin thinking about future
outcomes.
But did you know that every nine seconds, a child in the USA drops out of school.
For boys, the rate is much higher than for girls (37). We could easily say: “Oh well
boys just aren't as bright as girls”. But the evidence doesn't support this. A recent
study states that boys in America, by the age of 21, have spent 10.000 hours playing
video games.
The research suggests that they'll never fit in the traditional classroom, because these
boys require a situation where they have the ability to manage their own learning
environment. Now let's look at the way we do prevention education. All prevention
education is aimed at a future time zone. We say don't smoke or you'll get cancer.
Get good grades or you won't get a good job, but with present orientated kids, that
just doesn't work. Although they understand the potentially negative consequences
of their actions, they persist with the behavior, because they're not living for the
future (38).
They're in the moment right now. We can't use logic and it's no use reminding them
of potential fallout from their decisions or previous errors of judgment. We've got to
get in their minds just as they're about to make a choice. Time perspectives make a
big difference in how we value and use our time. When Americans are asked how
busy they are, the vast majority report being busier than ever before. They admit to
sacrificing their relationships, personal time and a good night's sleep for their
success. Twenty years ago, 60 percent of Americans had sit down dinners with their
families, and now only 20 percent do. But when they're asked what they would do
with an eight day week they say: Oh that'd be great. They would spend that time
laboring away to achieve more(39). They're constantly trying to get ahead, to get
toward a future point of happiness.
So it's really important to be aware of how other people think about time. We tend
to think: “Oh that person's really irresponsible or that guy's power hungry”, but often
what we're looking at is not fundamental differences of personality but really just
different ways of thinking about time. Seeing these conflicts as differences in time
perspective rather than distinctions of character, can facilitate more effective
cooperation between people (40) and get the most out of each person's individual
strengths.

I managed to get a job working in the local bakery, learning how to make bread and

No, it's an independent family run store, which is good because they're really
supportive and eager to help me with the information I need.
How do you find the theoretical aspect of the school work?
I find the practical work far more interesting, but my tutors are really enthusiastic
and I get on well with my classmates, which makes the lessons a lot more enjoyable.
Also, I recently found out that I can complete the theoretical aspects of the course
within one year (22), because of the practical experience I'm getting.
Wow that's great.
I know, I was so relieved. I find the theory pretty hard to understand. So I was really
worried about taking it for another year.
Do you get assessed every term or just once at the end of each academic year?
No. There's an assessment every term, which is great because it really takes the
pressure off. In the first term it's really relaxed. You conduct your own experiments
on your topic of choice, and then everyone in your class assesses each other as a
practical exercise (23). It's just a shame that practical experience doesn't count
towards the grades.
Yes that's true. Anyway enough about me. What are you studying?
Oh I'm not sure what I want to study yet, but I've been making inquiries about the
English language course.
Do you know what career path you're interested in following?
Since Spanish is my first language. I thought that studying English would be really
beneficial if I decided to apply for a job in England. I really enjoy art and I'm very
creative but I don't think that becoming an artist is a very practical choice. I was
thinking of using my passion for art in a different way. Like working as a curator in
an art exhibition, for example (24)
Wow that sounds really interesting. I think you'd be good at that.
The problem is that the course is very expensive, as you have to buy materials
yourself and they don't offer any scholarships to cover expenses. I need to order a
catalogue of the courses (25) on offer, so I can see if there are any other modules
that might perhaps be cheaper to study.

Nếu bạn đã học bài Listening Day 1: Form Completion, thường ra trong Section 1
thì Note Completion theo mình thấy thì cũng tương tự, không khác gì mấy, thường
ra ở những câu cuối Section 1 hoặc Section 2. Tuy nhiên, nếu như Day 1 mình đã
focus vào điền form (báo cáo, trộm cướp, report, đăng ký, thuê đồ...) thì giờ mình sẽ
học qua 1 chút về Table (bảng), nội dung cũng không khác gì lắm đâu nhưng hình
thức thì có khác nè, vì một cái sẽ là điền vào Form (như Day 1) còn một cái sẽ điền
vào bảng Table (như hôm nay học).
À thật ra thì nói không khác gì lắm cũng không hẳn, vì nội dung nghe Section 1 sẽ
chậm và dễ hơn, còn qua Section 2 sẽ khó hơn và lừa lọc nhiều hơn đó, nhất là khi
Table có phần điền số (người, giá, tiền...) thì ôi thôi audio sẽ đọc 1 đống số luôn.
Thêm nữa là nhiều khi dạng Table này sẽ nói mình điền 2-3 từ (không phải One
Word Only như Form Completion nữa) cho nên cũng phải cân nhắc số lượng từ điền
vào vừa khớp lại còn phải vừa chuẩn.
Theo mình cái này nên gọi là Table Completion cho chuẩn nhỉ, vì đang nói về Table
mà. Anyway thì bạn hãy lướt qua thử 1 tấm hình bên dưới về dạng này nhé, rồi đọc
phía dưới nữa mình có chia sẻ một chút về dạng bài này. Nói chung là dạng điền từ
thì cũng giống như nhau thôi, tuy nhiên về audio, nội dung, tốc độ audio, độ giăng
bẫy của audio thì có chút khác nhau đó.
NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS AND/OR A NUMBER nghĩa là number = one

word
Khi bạn gặp dạng câu hỏi này, một số (number) được tính là một từ. Do đó, 25
October gồm một từ và số sẽ được tính là 2 từ. Một ví dụ khác là March 31 gồm một
từ và một số. Ví dụ này đồng thời được chấp nhận với câu hỏi yêu cầu one word
and/or a number. Hay March 31st, 1972 là 3 words and/or numbers vì “st” không
tính.
Nếu đề bài yêu cầu chỉ one word and/or a number đáp án sẽ là 31 March. Hay “a
capital city” sẽ là 3 từ, mạo từ “a” cũng sẽ được tính như 1 từ. Và những từ có dấu
gạch ngang như out-of-date (hết hạn) cũng sẽ tính là 1 từ.
Ví dụ bài này, mình cần điền “NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS AND/OR A
NUMBER” thì ta cần điền không quá ba từ và/hoặc 1 số, nghĩa là điền hai từ vẫn
được, 1 từ vẫn được nhé! Thông thường gặp dạng điền nhiều từ như thế này, thì chỉ
khoảng 1-2 ô trống là điền 3 từ thôi, còn những ô còn lại đa số toàn 1-2 từ không à
(và số).
Việc đầu tiên bạn cần làm đó là đọc như chữ in đậm, tiêu đề của mỗi cột, xem mỗi
cột tương ứng với cái gì.
Ví dụ:
 Cột 1 là Types of Concerts (Loại hòa nhạc nào) à điền tên của concert
 Cột 2 là Time (thời gian) à điền thời gian, cụ thể hơn, nhìn 1 loạt từ trên xuống
dưới toàn thấy điền buổi/thứ à điền thứ trong tuần hoặc buổi trong ngày!
 Cột 3 là Cost (Chi phí, tiền)à điền số tiền
 Cột 4 (Additional Information) à điền thông tin chung
Sau khi nắm được tên 4 cột dọc rồi bắt đầu đọc những chỗ đục lỗ, Ví dụ 1 là cần
điền tên buổi concert này. Vị trí 2 là điền số tiền. Vị trí 3 mình đoán là điền phương
tiện truyền thông, vì họ nói là broadcast. Vị trí 5 điền tên đồ vật nào có thể dùng để
trang trí, hoặc màu sắc trang trí. Vị trí 6 điền thứ trong tuần hoặc buổi trong ngày
như đã phân tích ở trên. Vị trí 7 thấy “by” thì biết là bị động, nên theo sau chắc là
người/tổ chức/nhân vật nào đó. Vị trí 8 là màn trình diễn (performance) của
“something/someone”, maybe là điền tên nghệ sĩ, band nhạc, dụng cụ chơi nhạc vào
đó.
Vị trí 9 ở cột “cost”, mà đọc thì chắc chắn ko phải điền vào số tiền, cho nên từ cần
điền phải liên quan gì đó đến giá cả, “no group.....” (không có ..... theo nhóm) thì các
bạn nào làm quen có thể đoán luôn một trong số những từ điền vào là “discount,
deduction, promotions...” Vị trí 10 “a popular.... will peform” (.... nổi tiếng sẽ trình
diễn) nghĩ ngay đến một người nào đó (ca sĩ, diễn viên hài, kịch nghệ, người chơi
dụng cụ âm nhạc như pianist/band nhạc nào đó nổi tiếng sẽ trình diễn...)
Tương tự như Form Completion, song song với việc đó, chúng ta sẽ tìm và gạch
chân các keywords trong Table gạch chân những từ mang tính giúp bạn nghe từ cần
điền tốt hơn, những từ nào nổi bật, mang thông tin quan trọng trong câu, chúng sẽ
giúp chúng ta tìm thông tin trong bài nghe và điền thông tin vào khoảng trống. Đọc
từ khóa của Listening không phức tạp như ở Reading, vì bạn không có nhiều thời
gian mà sẽ nghe luôn ngay sau đó khoảng 30s – 1 phút, cho nên không cần phức tạp
nhiều, đọc đơn giản thôi, nhanh chóng, nhé!

As it will be a lavish and elegant event, I think we should set quite a high entrance
fee of around 40 dollars. It'll give us some extra money to spend on decorations.
That sounds fair. Instead of using chandeliers and electric lights we should decorate

Before you hear the rest of the conversation you have some time to look at Question

Yes I love that idea. Let's hold it during the day on Saturday so that everyone
including families and the elderly can attend.
Perhaps we should offer concessions for students, children and the elderly to make
the tickets more affordable and encourage everyone to come.
Yes definitely. I think that the majority of the crowd will be composed of families
and friendship groups. So we should avoid giving a group discount to maximize the
income from ticket sales (9).
Let's arrange a secret surprise to end the show on a high for everyone. How about a

One of my friends happens to know a famous singer who I'm sure would be happy

Bước 3: Lựa chọn đáp án + Đọc kỹ nhừng từ vệ tinh
Nếu như đã xem qua ý chính của Table và biết những loại từ cần điền rồi, việc còn
lại của bạn chỉ là nghe thật kỹ, không để sót, không để bị lừa, không để bị miss thông
tin.
Theo kinh nghiệm của mình, thông thường Section 1 sẽ khá là dông dài (tức là audio
đọc hơi lòng vòng mới chốt được từ cần điền, và phần thông tin bên ngoài họ nói
chuyện với nhau khá nhiều) nhưng khi sang tới Table, họ sẽ nói khá ngắn gọn xúc
tích, đa phần thông tin chỉ có trong Table mà thôi, không đi lan man bên ngoài và sẽ
chốt đáp án rất nhanh, nên bạn phải chuẩn bị tinh thần là tập trung chốt đáp án, không
có lòng vòng hay lan man đâu. Đọc 1 phát cái xong luôn nguyên cái Table hồi nào
không hay đó.
Hãy lưu ý và nghe kỹ những từ xuất hiện xung quanh khoảng trống, những giới từ
ví dụ như of, about, for.... Đây là những từ quan trọng có thể nghe trong bài audio,
thông thường những giới từ (khoảng 60%) sẽ giữ nguyên trong bài audio, nên cần
nghe kỹ và ghi nhớ giới từ và những từ xung quanh khoảng trống (mình gọi là những
từ vệ tinh).
Ví dụ trong bài này, cần chú ý đến những từ vệ tinh như “changes to...”, “beginning
of the...”, “send to...”, “only.... for”
Bước 4: Kiểm tra đáp án
Kiểm tra xem từ này có cần “s” hay không, kiểm tra lại từ mình đã điền đã phù hợp
với loại từ cần điền vào chưa.
Kiểm tra xem đáp án mình điền vào là đáp án cuối cùng hay chưa, trong băng thường
sẽ xuất hiện những đáp án gây nhiễu để khó xác định được đáp án chính xác, các
bạn hãy chú ý lắng nghe những từ nối như “but”, “however”, “so”...
Kiểm tra xem đáp án mình ghi trong tờ đề khớp với đáp án trong “answer sheet”
chưa, chính tả đúng chưa...
Nếu phân vân giữa 2 đáp án, thì nên nhìn những đáp án xung quanh để lựa chọn, khả
năng đúng sẽ cao hơn, hoặc dùng phương pháp loại trừ vào phút cuối.

I have in the studio with me Mary Smith from Yorktown tourism. who is here to tell
us about some of the events happening in our state capital over the next three weeks
at the Spring Festival. So, Mary what can we expect to see?
Well, it's such an exciting time to be in Yorktown to kick off the Spring Festival.
There'll be a huge firework display down by the lake (11), starting at 9 pm this
Saturday the 4th of September. Over 10000 fireworks will be set off, all
choreographed to music and broadcast simultaneously here on Radio Yorkie. You
should get there early if you want to get close to the action. So bring along a picnic
and a blanket (12), as it could get chilly in the evening. One of the things that attracts
visitors to the festival from all over the country is the amazing collection of flowers
on show in Central Park (13) throughout the festival. Special buses will run from the
town center to the show at 20 minute intervals (14) for those of you who prefer to
take public transport.
If you're interested in seeing the latest in cars, from the fastest to the most expensive,
then head over to the motor show at the exhibition center (15) from the 10th to the
15th of September. It'll be open daily from 9:00 am. until 10:00 pm. So you can even
pop there after work. Do you like photography? Then go along to grow your
imagination. An exhibition of photographs of famous gardens, which will be held at
the Art Gallery (16) from the 11th to the 19th of September. Come and be inspired
by some of the world's most beautiful gardens. I've had a sneak preview of some of
the photographs, and they are magnificent. If music is more your scene then you
should come and hear the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra performing Swing In
Spring at the concert hall (17) on Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th of
September. It's a celebration of dance music from the 1940s and 50s. There'll be
three performances, both evenings start at 7 pm and a matinee performance at 2.30
(18) on the Saturday.
So get your dancing shoes on and head there. It's guaranteed to get your feet tapping.

Day 7: Setence/Summary Completion
Đây là dạng bài gọi là bonus ở cuối Section 3, ví dụ sau 1 đống câu Multiple Choice
ở trên rồi thì thêm 3-4 câu dạng Sentence Completion nữa cho trọn vẹn. Dạng bài
này gần giống như cách làm điền từ của Section 4, cũng là điền từ, tuy nhiên có 1
vài điểm khác nho nhỏ. Đó là tốc độ của những câu Sentence Completion đa số
nhanh, không phải tốc độ nói của speaker nhanh đâu nhé, mà là cách họ đưa ra đáp
án khá nhanh và ngắn gọn, không đi lòng vòng, súc tích. Và độ dài của bài nói cho
những câu này khá ngắn. Nên đòi hỏi bạn phải tập trung cực kỳ cao độ. Và dấu hiệu
nhận biết khi đến những câu này đó là băng audio đến câu cuối cùng của phần trước
(ví dụ từ câu 21 – 26 là Multiple Choice), thì người nói trong audio sẽ nghỉ 1 chút
(khoảng 4 giây) rồi mới nói tiếp. Các bạn xem bên dưới cách làm dạng bài này nhé!

Completion này, thời gian đọc trước câu hỏi là cực kỳ ít, bạn phải đọc thật nhanh và
hiểu xem nội dung là gì, cần điền thông tin cụ thể gì. Chốt lại mình khuyên bạn nên
đọc thật nhanh và hiểu rõ thông tin. Đừng xem lại, dò lại những câu đã làm, mà tập
trung làm những câu phía trước.
Ví dụ:
Vị trí 14 ở giữa mạo từ “a” và cụm danh từ “literature course” nên từ cần điền sẽ
phải là 1 tính từ. Vị trí 15 học sinh cần phải học ….. mô-đun giới thiệu trong suốt
năm đầu. Vậy nôm na đoán được cần điền vào 1 con số, số chương trình mà học sinh
cần học. Vị trí 17 cần điền vào một danh từ.

Matching là dạng bài nối câu hỏi với đáp án đúng đã được cho sẵn. Đây là dạng bạn
có thể gặp trong Section 2 hoặc 1 vài câu trong Section 3. Thông thường sẽ có những
option cho các bạn chọn, có thể là 3 option ví dụ như will, may, won’t (có những sự
khác nhau và trái ngược nhau rõ rệt) loại này khá ngắn gọn, dễ hiểu hoặc rất nhiều
option hoàn toàn khác nhau, các bạn bắt buộc phải nghe và match vào, ví dụ như đề
bài cho Name, option là rất nhiều Job Description (mô tả công việc) của từng người,
loại này hơi dài, đòi hỏi phải đọc – hiểu và tập trung cao độ.

Bước 1: Gạch chân keywords những Options
Nếu như bạn không đủ thời gian thì không nhất thiết phải đọc câu hỏi (câu hỏi là đề
bài, có thể là tên riêng, tên nơi chốn, địa điểm,…) hầu như là những điều rất ngắn
gọn, chỉ trong vòng ít chữ, và không bị paraphrase trong băng audio, cho nên bạn sẽ
dễ dàng keep track được khi băng nhắc đến, nên hoàn toàn có thể không cần đọc
trước câu hỏi mà lát nữa vẫn nghe được. Với trường hợp option dài, thì hãy đọc hết,
nắm ý và tìm điểm khác biệt giữa những option đó.
Ví dụ như bài trên, những option khác nhau một cách rõ ràng ở những từ definitely,
may, won’t. Khi nghe bạn chỉ cần chú ý những điểm này. Nhưng loại này khi nghe
chắc chắn sẽ có những trường hợp lừa lọc bằng but, however, đổi ý…
Nhưng tất nhiên, đôi khi sẽ có trường hợp ngược lại, tức là câu hỏi thì dài, option
đơn giản thì bạn nên đọc cả 2, một điều lưu ý là luôn luôn phải đọc option không
được bỏ. Và thường là câu hỏi không có quá nhiều sự khác biệt rõ rệt nên bắt buộc
bạn phải nắm ý, không cần nhớ 1 lúc tất cả vì khi nghe audio sẽ đọc theo thứ tự mà,
cho nên chỉ cần keep track là ổn thôi. Thông thường dạng này sẽ như sau:
Bước 2: Nghe và chọn đáp án
- Nếu bài nằm ở dạng 1, tức là option dài, câu hỏi đơn giản thì khi nghe chắc chắn
sẽ paraphrase những option đó bằng những cách khác nhau. Bạn cần keep track theo
câu hỏi (vì câu hỏi đơn giản 1-2 chữ tên riêng nên sẽ không paraphrase). Nói chung
quy tắc là keep track câu hỏi, paraphrase option  chọn đáp án.

- Nếu bài nằm ở dạng 2, tức là option ngắn, câu hỏi dài thì khi nghe sẽ paraphrase
câu hỏi, mình nghĩ dạng này sẽ dễ hơn 1 chút, khi nghe chỉ cần keep track option,
tức nhận diện câu trả lời, paraphrase câu hỏi cũng không cần lo vì sẽ đọc theo thứ tự
mà. Thường dạng này sẽ là kiểu option là những cái tên riêng, câu hỏi là phân công
công việc. Nên chỉ cần follow và match những cái tên tương ứng với công việc họ
làm là được. Nhưng sẽ có những trường hợp 1 câu mà xuất hiện 2-3 option, nên bạn
sẽ phải nghe kỹ đó!

I chose to write about the lack of knowledge that most people have about volcanoes.

I think everyone enjoyed watching but I was really nervous about talking in front of
an audience. I also felt very underprepared since I didn't finish writing the

Yes I think it's important that we list all of the differences between active and
extinct volcanoes as there will definitely be a question on this topic (30). There
are no documentaries on the subject but there's a very informative website that
discusses the geological structure of each volcano type.

1. Phương pháp nghe - chép chính tả
Lên website này: listenaminute.com, lướt 1 vòng, chọn 1 topic mình cảm thấy thích
nhất (thích ở đây là cảm thấy nó đã từng ra trong IELTS, có 1 độ khó và độ hứng
thú nhất định) rồi mở audio 1 phút ra nghe.
Đừng đọc script bên dưới, vừa nghe vừa chép chính tả. Nhưng đừng lâu quá, căn
thời gian khoảng 3-5 phút là phải xong 1 audio đó.
Sau đó dò lại với script. Dò chính tả nha. Rồi pick mấy từ vựng ra để học. Vậy là
xong. Cố gắng 1 ngày làm 2-3 bài.
2. Phương pháp nghe - làm bài tập
Lên website này: esl-lab.com. Có 3 level: Easy, Intermediate, Difficult. Bạn tự chọn
cho mình 1 level thích hợp. Sau đó bấm đọc qua 1 loạt 5 câu hỏi, bấm vào audio,
vừa nghe vừa làm câu hỏi nha. Bảo đảm bạn nào yếu Multiple Choice IELTS qua
đây luyện 1 tuần là lên trình ngay.

Bấm vào website bbc.co.uk/learningenglish. Một số bạn ko mở được chắc là do họ

chặn IP Việt Nam hay sao nhưng máy mình vẫn mở bình thường. Ở đây có nhiều
chuyên mục: Grammar, Vocabulary, Pronunciation, News, Business, Quizzes, etc.
Mỗi bài đều có video và script để xem, chủ yếu về những topic rất đời sống, tin tức,
kiến thức như Coronavirus, Climate Change, Wild animals, Environment…
4. Phương pháp nghe - giải trí
Cái này thì dễ, các bạn lên Youtube, Netflix, Spotify… nghe nhạc, xem phim, lướt
web… Gì cũng được, miễn là bằng tiếng Anh + sub tiếng Anh là được!
Ngoài ra bạn có thể cài chế độ Language là English cho điện thoại của mình, cho
laptop của mình nữa.
5. Phương pháp nghe - luyện IELTS
Nghe đề IELTS Cam, Actual Test, yếu dạng nào nghe và làm BT nhiều dạng đó
(Maps, Multiple Choice….)
Lưu ý: 1 đề IELTS nghe từ 2-3 lần
LẦN 1: Nghe để làm bài → dò đáp án → ko nhìn đáp án mà chỉ biết sai câu mấy
LẦN 2: Dò đáp án xong → nghe lại những câu sai → Chọn lại đáp án những câu sai
LẦN 3: Dò đáp án chi tiết những câu sai → Nghe lại những Section nào sai + nhìn

1. Blinkist
Đây là app mình thích nhất và sử dụng nhiều nhất trong số 5 app. Mỗi ngày trước
khi ngủ buổi tối, trước khi ngủ trưa, sáng dậy, trong lúc làm việc… Mình đều mở
Blinkist ra để nghe.
2. Musi
Mình hay mở Musi để nghe nhạc, xem video mà chỉ muốn nghe tiếng + tắt điện thoại
cũng không bị stop. Đơn giản là vậy thôi!
3. Audible
Đây là app mình mới tải về thôi, chưa sử dụng nhiều nên chưa feedback được nhiều
cho các bạn. Chung quy đây là app sách nói, tức là mình mở 1 cuốn sách, rồi app sẽ
đọc cho mình nghe.
4. Podcasts
Quá quen thuộc rồi đúng không? Ứng dụng này giúp bạn nghe bất kỳ đâu, bất kỳ
kênh nào bạn thích. Mình thì nghe có mục đích với theo sở thích. Cho nên là đang
subscribe và nghe kênh National Geographic vì mình thấy nó giúp ích Listening
Section 4 và Reading.

Đây là App cuối tuần nào mình cũng mở để cày phim. Bạn hãy xem bất cứ phim gì
bạn thích, nhưng nên nhớ là để sub tiếng Anh nhé! Khi chữ chạy qua mình vừa rèn
Reading vừa nghe để tăng trình Listening luôn. Từ nào không hiểu thì pause lại tra
nghĩa rồi coi tiếp, đôi lúc hơi phiền đúng ko nhưng mà vì sự nghiệp học nên phải
vậy.
