5.7 Formwork

5.7.1 General Guidelines

All formworks will be erected in accordance with the drawings and specifications.

Scaffolding for working and access platform where necessary will be erected by skilled labours in compliance
with safety requirements and it will be checked again for compliance.

Formwork system will be in compliance with the specifications, proposed paneling arrangements,

supporting system with form-tie arrangements.

The formworks will be braced adequately to withstand the resulting lateral forces during casting of

concrete.

Form ties will be designed to resist and withstand the lateral pressure during concrete placing;

particularly fabricated ties will be installed to fasten and securing formworks.

Appropriate and recommended construction joints will be provided at right locations according to the approved

construction drawings issued by NWSDB

Construction joints should be clean and free from dust & grout and approved bonding agent should be apply

before pour the new concrete on matured concrete.

Lines, levels and dimensions will be checked, verified and marked before and after installation of

formworks and it will be maintained during casting of concrete too.

Contact surfaces of the formworks will be treated with nontoxic mold oil/form-release agent before fixing
the formWORK in their final position.

Removal of formworks will be performed in accordance with the specifications and vertical fortnworks
will generally be removed after 24hrs where it is practicable

5.7.2 Special Notes on Fabrication of Formwork

• 2”x2” cut to shape timber rafters with 2400x1200x12 mm plywood will be used

for the preparation of formwork panels. 2”x2” timber section will be used to brace

where necessary as per requirement. In general, largest practicable sizes will be used

for various panels to minimize number of joints.

° 50mm dia. GI pipes, form ties, threaded bars and P-cones will be used to tie & brace the

form work. In addition to that U jacks, T Jacks, Pipe supports and scaffolding frames

with 50mm dia. GI pipe bracing will be used for supporting the form work as

applicable. The Acro Jacks, turn buckle arrangements and tendon wires will also be

opted if necessary.

* All fabricated Formwork panels will be stacked and stored in separate location carefully

without causing any damage or warping under covered roof or otherwise covered

with tarpaulin. All forms will be cleaned and mold oil will be applied before

stacking as required.
