INSTRUCTIONS: In the school you are tasked to visit, ask for the definition of
curriculum from the principal, teacher, student, and school staff.

Definition of curriculum
As per RIDI Rhode Island Dept of
Education, curriculum is defined as the
PRINCIPAL standards- based sequence of planned
experience where students practice &
achieve proficiency in content & applied
learning skills. It is the central guide for all
educators as to what is essential for
teaching & learning. Currently , we are
adopting the K to 12 Curriculum. Since its
Pandemic, MELC is being implemented so
that only Most Essential Learning
Competency.
-Mrs. Anna Grace Filio (former principal at
Corinthian Institute of Cavite, former head
teacher at DNHS main Senior Highschool,
Current Principal in-charge at Ramona S.
Tirona Elementary School)
Curriculum is a standards-based sequence
of planned experiences where students
TEACHER practice and achieve proficiency in content
and applied learning skills. Curriculum is the
central guide for all educators as to what is
essential for teaching and learning, so that
every student has access to rigorous
academic experiences.
-Sir Mhel Zamora ( Senior Highscool
teacher at Dasmarinas Integrated School)
The curriculum is the set of subjects of
learning and courses of lessons that
STUDENT comprises a single school of knowledge
that is taught to those who wish to study
and learn that particular school of thought
may it be related to science or the arts.(
kalipunan ng mga tinuturo pati paraan ng
pagtuturo)
-Lex Marco Paolo A. Miranda (Summa Cum
laude at Mapua 2021)

Curriculum is more than just the subjects or

the courses that a student in a university
SCHOOL STAFF takes in order to finish a degree, because it
is also about how other stakeholders in a
university work together in order to fulfill the
goal of the university, and the goal of the
students. Staffs like us are also part of the
curriculum, where we have a role in the
lives of the students who are in the process
of finishing their education. One example is
that, staffs procure equipments which are
pivotal in the learning process of the
students. Without those equipments,
specifically in the laboratories, the
understanding of the students in a specific
field will be a little ambigous without such
equipments. In short, curriculum has
something to do with all the stakeholders,
not just the student itself.
-Ms. Rica Marie S. Paming (Student
Librarian at TUPC)

PROCESSING QUESTIONS AND ANALYSIS

1. How was the curriculum understood by the individuals you interviewed?

All of them answer it accurately based on what curriculum really is, as I concluded based on
their understanding about curriculum, it is the science and arts of teaching that is pivotal for
both teacher and student on how the teaching will be more effective for students learning.

2. What is the difference between the way the teacher defined the curriculum and that
of the student? How do their answers compare to the definition of curriculum by
various authors? Explain.

The difference between the two answer is that, the student assess the meaning of the
curriculum based on what he knows about it and how he understand the word presumably
based on his experience on how his teachers talks about curriculum (he defines it as the
backbone of teaching), while the teacher define the curriculum in technical way based on
what really the curriculum is and also he discusses the main role of curriculum for teaching
and learning (guide of teaching for better learning).
