What's New
1. Technology has afforded us is the ability to communicate and socialize with the most minimal effort.
Tablets and smartphones offer seniors an easy-to-use device that can be programmed to work around
their own personal needs, such as displaying larger buttons, icons, and brighter screens for the
visually impaired. Additionally, there's the option to have texts, emails, and other documents read out
loud by the device instead of having to squint over tiny words manually. Texting, social media, and
video chat apps are numerous, and most are inexpensive, if not free, allowing seniors to easily keep
in contact with their friends and loved ones even if they aren't able to leave their homes regularly This
availability to communicate with others helps seniors combat feelings of depression and isolation,
which are common to seniors living alone.
2. New generations nowadays are techie savvy and there are only limited elders who are techie savvy,
that is why a person who is already old but knows on how to manipulate technologies is very fortunate
that he/she possess a skill when it comes to information communication technology or techie savvy
elders. They can learn on the things that they do not know before. Modern communication gadgets
bring the gap between elders and the new generation. Elders can teach to the new generation on how
to do multi task job using technologies. Elders can also teach skills to the new generations because
there are skills which are not familiar to the new generations.
3. Mobile devices have ushered in a whole new way of communicating, creating new channels of social
interaction and allowing older adults to keep in close contact with family like never before. Social
media platforms, video calling and text messaging offer cross-generational communication options
like never before.
What I Have Learned
1. Yes, I believe this song promotes social inclusion; by simply reading the lyrics and interpreting them,
we can understand what they are saying. The process of improving the terms under which individuals
and groups participate in society, with the goal of improving the ability, opportunity, and dignity of
those who are disadvantaged due to their identity. It's about emerging from the shadows...bravely,
boldly, and proudly, rather than shyly, hesitantly, or cautiously. The rest of the world may laugh at
you. But you should never dismiss yourself or consider yourself unlucky to be who you are and do
what you do.
2. The plot revolves around a circus. As a result, Keala Settle's role in the film is that of a bearded lady,
i.e., an individual with a freakish appearance – someone who would be shunned by mainstream
society or, to put it mildly, an outcast because of their appearance. Everyone is unique, and instead
of looking at others and degrading oneself by comparing the good things that others have, one should
be proud of oneself.
3. There are numerous social media pages, such as Facebook and Instagram, where I can see
campaigns and discussions about fostering social inclusion. They inspire many people by posting
motivational words that can help other people feel appreciated and for others to avoid doing things
like out casting someone simply because they don't fit their standards.

There's a defiance in this that represents the beginning of the journey towards self-acceptance,
which Keala Settle does exceptionally well. You get the impression that after years of being ground down
and mistreated, she's finally had enough and won't take it any longer. She can't change who she is or what
she is, but she can change her attitude toward herself and her place in the world.
I've been through this phase before; I doubted myself because I have a lot of pimples, and I was

WHAT I KNOW

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

Luke 10:25-37 (New International Version)
1. The virtues portrayed in the parable of the Good Samaritan are compassion, kindness, solidarity,
generosity, and hospitality. I've seen kindness when a Samaritan saved the life of a robbed man
without hesitation. When the Samaritan accompanied the man to an inn and took care of him, I
witnessed his charity and hospitality.
2. I believe the Good Samaritan assisted the stranger because he perceived that the man was in need
and that no one was available to assist him, and he chose to assist the man without hesitation.
Jesus used the Parable of the Good Samaritan to demonstrate how we should treat people who are
not necessarily our friends. Jesus was asked to confirm his understanding of the term "neighbor."
This is why he told the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) to demonstrate that
humans, including their adversaries, should love everyone.
3. If I were the Samaritan, I would do the same thing he did because if someone is in need, even if we
don't know each other, I will extend my hand to help him. Furthermore, it is not difficult to help
others without expecting anything in return because, if done wholeheartedly, no questions will arise
in my mind. I will do what he did because God teaches us to help others, especially our neighbors.
God also says that we should love others as much as we love ourselves and God.

WHAT’S IN

MY GOOD SAMARITAN EXPERIENCE

My Good Samaritan experience occurred in year 2019, when everything was still normal; I had just gotten out
of church and gone to the bookstore, and as I was walking home, I noticed a homeless man begging along the
stairs in front of the church. I'm walking by thinking what I can offer to him then I saw him beg alongside the people
walking down the stairs. No one noticed him, and I believe no one wants to interact with him because of his
situation, but as I approached him, he handed me his hand and said, "Neng, palimos kahit pang kain ko lang." My
heart melted because of his situation. I gave him one hundred pesos. I noticed he smiled broadly as a result of what
I did, and I smiled back. I saw the relief in his eyes as a result of my small act that he would have food for the day. I
talked to him for a while and said that bare with what I can gave for now cause I'm still a student. I asked him if why
did he ended up with that situation and all I could did was felt sad with his situation, no one deserves a life like that.
So, I told him that I'll include him in my prayers hoping that he'll get a better life cause that's what everyone
deserves.

ANALYSIS:

The song "Pag-ibig by Spongecola" explored intersubjectivity by stating that our surroundings will be better
if we have love or know how to love. It is also stated in the song that this is the key and that it should be shared. It
can also help to alleviate grief in our lives. The term agreement is also synonymous with intersubjectivity. It will
have a greater impact on us if we can agree on something, in this case, love. When it comes to what the song is
implying about my relationships with others, it implies that it feels good to love others because seeing or being with
them can make problems go away or transport you to another world where you can enjoy things. I agree with the
song because what the songwriter says is true; it doesn't matter if it's a love for the opposite sex; it can also be on
your family and friends. We can find peace if we learn to understand and love one another. That is also why
intersubjectivity is interesting to learn about.

1. Of course not, PHIVOLCS itself said that the volcano island was a permanent danger zone which
meant no residents were allowed to go back to their houses in that area. They have a science basis
so they declared this kind of statement and PHIVOLCS was called a branch to monitor such incidents
so we just have to follow their statement for our safety.
2. Volcanoes are formed when two oceanic or oceanic to continental plate collide. The leading edge of
the denser oceanic plate will subduct beneath the mantle. The leading edge will melt as it reaches
the mantle and the melted material rise up to surface creating volcanoes.
1. Reason why Taal Volcano Erupt:
2. When too much melted material is deposited in magma chamber of the taal volcano, it will trigger the
volcanic eruption. The volcanic eruption stops since the eruption threshold already subside as the
taal releases its heat during its eruption. It will take some time for the magma chamber of Taal Volcano
to store magma and energy before it will erupt again.

One of the most effective ways of reducing the risk of a volcanic eruption is having an evacuation
plan. This involves ensuring evacuation strategies are in place along with emergency shelter and food
supplies being planned for. Predicting and forecasting volcanoes using technology and historical data.
Emergency drills for people at home and work and ensuring appropriate training is provided to emergency
response teams. Mapping areas of high-risk, identifying locations at risk of pyroclastic flows, lahars,
landslips and liquefaction and ensuring these areas are not used for building. Geoengineering could
prevent climate effects caused by giant volcanic eruptions. The perpetual winters that follow giant volcanic
eruptions could be avoided by shooting greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, according to new scientific
research. In these ways we can anticipate the impact of an eruption.

Activity 1. Set-up 1
1. The egg white turn from clear to white. When egg whites are raw the proteins are curled up into tight
balls, more or less floating in water. When heat was applied those protein uncoil and get tangled
together. These tangled proteins form a kind of mesh, white traps the surrounding water. This changes
the color and the physical consistency of the egg white.
2. No, since the egg white that is far from the hot glass didn't cook because there is not enough heat

Activity 1. Set-up 2
1. The sticks are lined up parallel to the moving rulers.
2. Rocks undergo changes in temperature and pressure and may be subjected to differential stress and
hydrothermal fluids. Metamorphism occurs because some minerals are stable only under certain
conditions of pressure and temperature.
3. Temperature and pressure are the two factors which are responsible for change in state of matter.

What is it
1. Metamorphism begins at about 8 to 15 kilometers below. As the temperature and pressure increase
metamorphism also increase until such time when temperature is too high that rocks melts to form magma.
2. Foliated texture
3. The greater the temperature, the higher the metamorphic grade
4. Gneiss, because most regional metamorphism occurs within the continental crust. Although rocks can
be metamorphosed at depth in most areas, deep below the mountains produced by collision of two
continental crust is the area of greatest regional metamorphism. In general, the confining and directing
pressures exerted by some tectonic forces unto to the rock formations cause new alignment of minerals
(foliation) during recrystallization.
5. The importance of studying metamorphism is for us to understand how rocks respond to geologic
factors such as heat and pressure forming metamorphic rocks through the process called metamorphism.
The process of metamorphism takes place tens of kilometers below the surface where temperatures and
pressures are high enough to transform rock without melting it. The increase in temperature and pressure
and change of the chemical environment can change the mineral composition and crystalline textures of the
rock while remaining solid all the while. The metamorphic rocks under these change conditions depends on
the original rock chemistry, the exact pressures and temperature to which rocks are subjected and the amount
of water available for chemical reaction.

What I Have Learned

1. Metamorphism is the alteration of rock’s chemical composition, mineral components, and
texture.
2. Metamorphic rocks are formed when rocks are subjected to significant changes in heat and
pressure
3. Confining pressure is vertical stress, whereas directed pressure is differential pressure.
4. In the presence of directed pressure, recrystallization may align minerals parallel or
perpendicular to the force/stress applied on the rocks.
5. Regional metamorphism takes place where both high pressure and temperature are imposed
over large parts of the crust and usually takes place in continental plate boundaries.
6. Contact metamorphism is the localized transformation of rocks near to igneous intrusions mainly
because of high temperatures.
7. Other types of metamorphism are shock metamorphism, burial metamorphism, high-pressure
metamorphism.
8. Foliation is created by alignment of minerals under directed pressure.
9. Granoblastic rocks are contact metamorphic rocks composed mainly of crystals that grow in
large size and distinct shapes.
10. Metasomatism occurs when the change in rock’s composition is due to interactions with fluids.

What's In
1. Metamorphism is the process wherein heat and pressure change the rock's physical and chemical
makeup.
2. Chemical changes and physical changes can occur on rocks during the process of metamorphism.
Chemical changes happen during metamorphism when ions move and new minerals form. The new
minerals which are the products of chemical change become more stable in the new environment.
Foliation is the physical change that may occur during metamorphism.

Illustration of Type of Stress Type of Stress Effects on Rocks
Tension Tensional stress causes
rocks to be pulled apart
that result to lengthening
and break apart. This type
of stress can be found at
divergent plate boundaries.
Compression Compressional stress
causes rocks to fold or
fracture. It squeezes rocks
together. Compression is
the most common type of
stress in convergent plate
boundaries.
Shear Shear stress happens
when forces slide pass
each other in opposite
direction which results to
slippage and translation.
This is the most common
stress found in transform
plate boundaries.

What I Have Learned

What I Know
I think the photo is shear stress.

What I Heard
According to geology, shear stress is the stress component parallel to a given surface, such as fault plane,
that results from forces applied parallel to the surface or from remote forces transmitted through the
surrounding rock.

What I Read
Based from Britannica, shear stress is a force tending to cause deformation of a material by shippage
along a plane or planes parallel to the imposed stress.

What I Know
I think the image is undergoing compressional stress.

What I Heard
According to USGS, it is the stress that squeezes something.

What I Read
Based from wobre.org, compressional stress is when a rock is pressed together into itself.

What I Know
I think the picture is undergoing tensional stress.

What I Heard
According to USGS, tensional stress is the stress that tends to pull something apart.

What I Read
Based from amy harris of settlepi tensional stress, sometimes known as extensional stress, stretches and
pulls rocks apart. This type of stress occurs along divergent plate boundaries, where two tectonic plates
are tearing away from one another.
What I Can Do

It is critical to investigate the fault system's characteristics so that residents are aware of the potential
consequences of the fault, such as earthquakes. I'll educate my neighbors about it by informing them about
the location of the fault in our community, so that we can avoid any disastrous consequences.

Additional Activities
The image depicts a rock formation found in Talahib, Batangas. It is a popular tourist destination due
to its size and formation, and locals refer to it as "Sing sing na bato." This occurs as a result of weathering,
erosion, and plate tectonics. In other words, when tectonic plates collide, they form this formation in which
one plate is lifted in a subduction zone. This can also happen when rocks change temperature and pressure,
as well as when they are subjected to differential stress and hydrothermal fluids.
