In order to intensify health and nutrition among grade school children, Guagua Elementary
School as spearheaded by the school head Mrs. Leila M. Dizon targeted supplementary feeding
which is one of advocacy of the Department of Education. . The main reasons why DepEd
launched this kind of program is to provide feeding to learners prioritizing Severely Wasted and
Wasted from Kinder up to Grade Six pupils and improve nutritional status of the SW and W
The Nutrition Leader Shanjelyn F. Pillora, threshed-out those were severely wasted and
wasted pupils from Kindergarten to Grade Six levels during the weighing done last June 2019.
There were 167 recipients of the program consists of 42 severely wasted and 125 wasted
individuals. The school based feeding program started July 15, 2019, the school provides daily
heavy and nutritious lunch which in line with the cycle menu given by the department. Volunteered
parents together with the PTA officers of the school assisted the feeding program; they help in
preparing, cooking and serving the food to the beneficiaries. Division nurses and personnel visited
and checked if the program were properly implemented. The School Based Feeding Program also
advocates health care practices such as hand washing and tooth brushing are also promoted.
Supposed to be the feeding should be end last December 13, 2019 but due to classes disruptions
from the Sea Games it continued until January 17, 2020 to complete the 120-days cycle.
