ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT

Title of the activity: 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2021

Objective/s:
To participate in the1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2021.

Narrative Report:

Earthquake is one of the famous disasters that caused people died or get injured. It cannot
be detected when and where it would happen to anyone. This is mostly happened in places where
people are hanging around and working. Earthquake is understood by being a natural phenomenon
caused by the constant movements of the earth’s crustal plates and due to climate change too.
Connectively, the Bancal Pugad Integrated School participated in the Online First Quarter
Nationwide Simultaneous School-Based Earthquake Drill on March 11, 2020. Pursuant to the
Division Memorandum No. 88 s.2021 which was “Conduct of Quarterly Nationwide Simultaneous
Earthquake Drill”.
The drill started at 2pm after the short discussion about earthquake preparedness. The
pupils and students from Kindergarten to Grade 10 with the supervision of their advisers followed
strictly the three important things during an earthquake. These were the Dropping/Ducking, Covering
and Holding, Watching out for falling objects, and Keeping calm and avoiding panic. Before the
actual drills, Mr. Jaycee P. Orcine, school DRRM Coordinator conducted an orientation through
group chats. He disseminated the information about the occurrence of earthquake as well as the
needs to carry out a drill to enhance the pupils and students’ awareness on the safety measures
before, during and after the earthquake.

The drill participants were 105 pupils from elementary, 112 students from high school.
The 13 school personnel also participated in the said activity. The drill lasted for four minutes. No
untoward incident happened during the drill.
Mr. Louise L. Lumanug, Head Teacher III/OIC, evaluate the drill. He said in the group
chat, “Earthquake preparedness should be taught well to the learners and should be followed strictly
during drill.” He further said that “Earthquake drill” are immersions and if the pupils and students
are taught on what to do or how to act then actions and reactions will be automatic.”
Finally, it was indeed a success. Preparedness and mitigation are key strategies in reducing
disaster risk.
