Đề: A group of school children are going to the city for the day.

They are going to the theatre in

the afternoon but they need something to do for two hours in the morning. Talk together about
the different things they could do in the city for two hours, and then decide which would be the
best.

Answer
A: What do you think they should do for 2 hours before going to the theater?
B: Hmmm. Should they go to the cinema?
A: Well, as a matter of fact a movie usually lasts more than 2 hours. So they don’t have enough
time to watch it all.
B: You’re right. What about going to the museum? In the museum contains a lot of interesting
things that we do not know.
A: I agree with you about the museum, but museum ticket is quite expensive. They’re still
students, they don’t have enough money to pay for tickets.
B: So, Do you have any other ideas for those 2 hours?
A: Hmm, I think they can take the sightseeing bus route around the city.
B: It sounds great. But sitting 2 hours on the bus, they can get bored and hungry.
A: Why don’t they have a picnic at the park? They can eat and rest there in 2 hours then return
to the theater.
B: I absolutely agree with you. I think this is a very good choice for those 2 hours.
A: So let’s decide.

A: Tôi nghĩ họ có thể đi tuyến xe bus tham quan thành phố.
A: Vậy quyết định thôi.
2. You are going on a cycling trip in the countryside with a group of friends.
You need to decide what things would be useful to put in your backpack and
take with you. Talk together about the different things it would be best to
take.

Answer:
A: Hey, we are going on a cycling trip in the countryside at the weekend,
right?
B: Oh, I forgot. So, we need to decide what things would be useful to put in
the backpack and take with us.
A: Right. I think we need to bring a lot of food and drink, wouldn’t you
agree?
B: In my opinion, we just need to bring a bottle of water. Because cycling is
thirsty work.
A: Okay. Water has got to be your number one essential. So, What about an
MP3 player? Is it really necessary?
B: An MP3 player?
A: Yes, we can listen to music and ride a bike at the same time. That’s
interesting.
B: I don’t think so. It’s very dangerous because it makes us distracted.
A: Hmm, That’s just what I was thinking.
B: Well, I think. We can’t be without eyewear.
A: Definitely. Wearing glasses on the bike is about protecting your eyes from
the sun, getting a fly and dirty.
B: Right. That’s decided. What about a waterproof jacket?
A: Maybe bring it to keep the rain out.
B: Okay. Then we’re agreed.
A: Okay.

3. You are spending the evening with a friend who you have not seen for
a long time. Talk about what you could do and decide what would be the
most suitable

Answer:
Nhàn:    Hello my friend. Long time no see. How are you?
Phương: I’m well. How about you?
Nhàn: Me too. Do you have some free time in the evening tomorrow?
Phương: Yes, I’m free tomorrow evening.
Nhàn: What do you think about going to a restaurant with me tomorrow?
Phương: I think eating in restaurants is very expensive and it is harder for me
to adjust the calories in each serving. Why don’t we go to a disco?
Nhàn: I’m very bad at dancing. The disco is very noisy and I don’t like that
place. I think it would be a good idea to go to the cinema.
Phương: That sounds great. I really love going to the cinema. We can watch
comedy films on a huge screen, and eat popcorn. Can you come and pick me
up?
Nhàn: Of course. See you tomorrow.

4.   E: I’m going to describe the situation to you. Your friend

John needs your help because he can’t decide which school
hobby club to join. John is very strong and fit and loves the
outdoors. Talk together about the different hobby clubs he
could join and say which one would be best. Here is a picture
with some ideas to help you.
                       STARTING A HOBBY

Answer:
A: Well, we know John like the outdoors, I don’t think he would enjoy playing the
ballet, do you?

B:I'm as skeptical as you, he can't do ballet. What about piano?

A:It's an indoor hobby and I think for a person who is strong and enjoys outdoor
sports, he won't like the piano.

B: Maybe you are right! John might not like it very much. I think he might like to
go hiking thought that sounds like fun.

A:oh, I think jute would be a suitable sport for him. It suits his fitness and tests his
perseverance.

B:Like you, this is an outdoor sport that is very suitable for John's love of outdoor
activities.Sure, and he’d get to spend lost of time in the fresh air. Let is think about
it.

Cặp nói gồm: Nguyễn Thị Thuỳ Dương - 23A4070048 và Phạm Thảo Nguyên – 22A4070191
D: I think visiting an art gallery is a option but it can be a little bit boring at the same time
TN: I agree. What’s about visiting an ancient castle?
D: Yeah, I think that would be great because you can know more about the beauty and history of
culture many years ago. So do you think riding horse is interesting?
TN: I’m sure that it will be a remarkable experience but I’m scare that I can fall to the ground. I
bet that won’t be easy for newbie to have fun in just few hour with the horses. Why don’t we go
to the cinema instead?
D: I think that we need some thing new and more exciting for weekend rather than sitting before
the screen. It’s really hot these day and I think that will be perfect for the beach, how about you?
TN: Sure, I love the ocean too. Definetly it’s the best choice.

2. Look at the picture and discuss where they should go to picnic

Cặp nói gồm: Phạm Thị Thu Thủy.22A4050168 và Nguyễn Thị Thu Trang.20A4050156

Thuy: I think it’s unreasonable to have a picnic at the zoo, what do you think if we go to the
forest?
Trang: I don’t feel that’s an idea, but i think we should go to the lake. There we can look the
surrounding scenery with cool breeze. It helps us relax. What do you feel?

Thuy: yeah, that sound like a good idea, i find quite interesting to have a picnic at the peach. We
can sunbathe there.

Trang: oh no, the sun in the sea will darken our skin a lot and probaly won’t be quiet.

Thuy: otherwise, we go up the hill? The air is fresh, we can see everything below the foothills
and beyond.

Trang: The hill is quite far, it’s dificult to move and not sure safe for us. I think we go picnic at
the lake is perfect. How about you?

Thuy: sure, i think so too and that’s is the best choice.

3. Look at the picture

Cặp nói gồm : Đỗ Đức Thịnh và Nguyễn Thị Thùy Giang - 22A4070047

Thinh: Hi, Giang. How are you today?

Giang: I’m pretty good. How about you?

Thinh: Me too. Do you have any plans for today?

Giang: Yes, I do. I will do homework and exercise.

Thinh: It’s so boring. I don’t like doing my homework at all. I plan to go play basketball again
with my friends. Do you want to come with me?

Giang: Oh, no, I don’t. Because I have never played basketball.

Thinh: What a pity, so which sport do you like?

Giang: I love playing badminton. Because it’s good for our health and helps us to lose weight. I
often play with my father.

Thinh: So great. Badminton is also my favorite sport. Do you want to play with me this
weekend?

Giang: Yes, of course. I have free time this weekend.

Thinh: Let’s meet at the park near our school at 5pm, okay?

Giang: Yeah, see you again at the weekend.

Thinh: Okay, goodbye!

3. You imagine that you are going to spend your holiday at a relative’s house. You want to
do something to help her. Talk together about different things you could do and decide
which would be the best.

Vi: Hi Lan, what problem do you have?

Lan: Hi Vi, this holiday, I will go to my aunt’s house for a day. I am really excited about it. But I
am worried about what I shall do to help and be close to them. Can you give me some
suggestions on what I should do?

Vi: Of course. What do you think about housework?

Lan: That sounds so good. Can I make the bed and clean the floor?

Vi: Hmm….. I will arrive at  my aunt’s house at 9 a.m then everyone in the house gets up and
cleans up. Therefore, this work doesn’t show closeness. What about washing the car?

Lan: What a pity! My aunt doesn’t have a car to wash it. If she had it, we could do it together.

Vi: What a sad thing it is! And iron the clothes?

Lan: It is too hard for me. Because I have never done them. I'm afraid I won’t do well.

Vi: Can I ask you how many people there are in your aunt's family?

Lan: Just two members: my aunt and my younger cousin. What’s up?

Vi: I have just come up with a new idea. To work together with people, You can cook meals with
your aunt. After eating, You can wash the dishes. The younger brother will dump the trash.
Everyone does it together and helps each other.

Lan: Waooo, wonderful. I like it. Thank you so much for your suggestions.

Vi: You are welcome

4. Your school is organizing a visit to a large sports activity center. Talk together about
which activities students would most like to try, then decide which activity students would
not like to do on this visit.
Part 2. A girl is going to spend 2 weeks living with a family in England to improve her
English. She has put the clothes she needs in her bag. Talk together about other things she
will need to take, and say which will be the most important.

L: Well, we know, Minh is going to spend 2 weeks living with a family in England. What do you
think she will need to take beside her clothes?
H: She should take toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shower gel, etc and put them in a toiletry bag.
It’s convenient and space-saving. Do you think so?
L: That’s true. In addition, she should take her family pictures because she might be homesick or
she might show them with people there.
H: You’re absolutely right. What about her favourite CDs? She could use them in case she needs
something to relax.
L: Sounds great but she doesn’t have a computer or a CD player. Let’s think about an umbrella
in case it is rainy or sunny.
H: You make a point but it is quite big. I think she wouldn’t use it regularly so she could borrow
it. What about a phone? I firmly believe that it is the most important thing to take.
L: You’re right. She’ll definitely need it for contacting. Besides, a dictionary is a necessary tool,
which will make it easier for her to communicate, right?
H: I completely agree. How about bringing a notepad and a pen to record her experience in 2
weeks?
L: That’s just what I was thinking. So that’s things she will need to take.
H: Exactly.

Part 2 Your friend, Tham needs your help because she can't decide which school's hobby
club to join. She is very healthy, friendly and skillful .Talk together about the different
hobby clubs she could join and tell her which one is the best fit. Here is an image with some
ideas to help you.

A: Hey! Our friend, Tham is having a hard time because she doesn’t know which club to choose.
Let's help her together!

B: Oh, of course!

A: Well, we know Tham is very skillful, so I think she likes gymnastics, right?

B: You are absolutely right. But it requires experience and practice. What about ballet?

A: That's also a good idea. Plus, I think it's for girls.

B: Maybe you're right! Tham can become a good dancer in the future. What do you think about
running?

A: Sure, and she'll spend a lot of time in the fresh air. Let's think about it. What about sailing?

B: I think rowing is too difficult - you need a lot of practice to master it.

A: Okay, but don't forget it's an uncommon hobby and it can be a lot of fun.

B: I see what you mean, but Tham is a girl so it sounds a bit difficult.

A: Well, that's right! Now there is table tennis and swimming.

B: I think table tennis is also a good choice. She's been playing it since high school.

B: Oh! Great!

A: That's right! In addition, I think swimming is also a good choice. We can swim with her.
B: Great! So let's go to Tham and tell her about this idea!

A: Okay! Let's go!

Part 2. A girl is going to live in another city. The people in her tennis club want to give her
a goodbye present. Talk together about the different things they could give her and then
decide which would be best. Here is a picture with some ideas to help you.

Thuy: Well, we know Lan is going to live in another city, so I think we can give her a clock, do
you?
Luong: I don’t think so. I find it is unecessary because she has a watch. What about tennis
racket?
Thuy: Okay, but we gave it to her for birthday last month.
Luong: Maybe you’re right. What do you think about tennis ball?
Thuy: I don’t agree. It’s very wasteful because the ball will have to be changed after every
match.
Luong: That’s right. Why don’t we give away books or CDs about tennis?
Thuy: Umm... She won’t like it because she prefers to watch live matches. Let’s give a tennis T-
shirt.
Luong: That’s enough. She can wear it to practice in the new city.
Thuy: That’s just what I was thinking. A nice and comfortable T-shirt will remind her of us.
What do you think about that?
Luong: Definitely. But I think an athletic bag is better than a T-shirt, would you agree?
Thuy: Yes. She can use an athletic bag to carry her workout gear such as socks, shoes, hat, and
other personal items...
Luong: I can’t help thinking the same. But I want to give her a present that when she looks at it,
she will remember us.
Thuy: That’s a good idea! What are your feelings about a photo of everyone in our club?
Luong: Great! She can put easily it anywhere she wants.
Thuy: So between athletic bag and photo, which one should we choose?
Luong: That’s a hard decision. I think photo because it helps her remember the memories in the
club.
Thuy: And maybe the athletic bag won’t be to her taste, too, so perhaps the photo is the best
option.
Luong: Then we’re agreed.
Thuy: Agreed. We’ve decided to choose the photo to give her. Hope she will like this present.

2.A friend of yours is going to run in an eight-kilometer race next month

and needs to get fit quickly. Talk together about the different things he
could do to get fit, and then decide which would be the best. Here is a
picture with some ideas to help you
A: Do you know Peter is going to run in an eight-kilometer race? I think he
should regular exercises help to have a healthy body.
B: I think you should join the sport of golf because it will help you to do
exercise.
A: That’s true. In my opinion, he needs to eat healthy food and limit fast
food. He should eat vegetables, less meat, eggs, salad, fish; should drink a lot
of water, about 1l to 2l per day. Don't smoke and drink strong wine,...
B: Oh no! That is not enough, because Peter needs to improve his health to
prepare for the race.
A: What about stepping on a treadmill?
B: The price of the treadmill is quite high, Peter will not have enough money
to buy it.
A: You're quite right. If he practices at home gyms according to TV, he can
save money.
B: Oh, that's a waste of time, he still has to spend time studying in his class.
A: I suggest he should go to school by bike. Because riding bicycle not only
good for his health but also helps to reduce polluted environment. Which one
should we choose?
B: Cycling to school combined with a moderate diet is the best exercise
solution.
A: All right, let’s do that.
5.A girl is going to spend two weeks living with her family in England to
improve her English. She has put the clothes she needs in her bag. Talk
together about the other things she will need to take and say which will
be the most important.
Here is a picture with some ideas to help you.
A: Hey, Hung. Linda is going to spend 2 weeks living with her family in
England so she has put the clothes she needs in her bag. Let’s talk together
about the other things she will need to take and say which will be the most
important.
Can you suggest one way?
B: Okay. I think she should take a mobile phone because of calling for
everyone, taking a note, and maybe take some photos. Do you agree with
that?
A: Yes, it is a good idea. And how about toiletries? She can take care of
herself well during her trip.
B: That’s true.  Another way can be her favorite CDs to relax after stressful
English classes.
A: I’m not sure about that.  So, it is better if she takes a dictionary, it will
serve her study very well. Do you think so?
B:  Absolutely!  So it’s either a mobile phone, a dictionary, and toiletries
which one should we choose?
A: Well, that’s a hard decision. I think taking a mobile phone is the best
option. It can fulfill all her requirements for learning and entertainment,
right?
B: That’s great!  I think so.
2.E: I’m going to describe the situation to you. Your friend Sam is going on a beach vacation
this summer. She doesn't know what's going on here and she needs your help. Talk to her
about different activities on the beach and find out which one is right for her. Here is an
image with some ideas to help you.

Sample dialogue:
T.Hương: Let's see, Sam is going on a vacation and she wants us to help her find some
fun activities at the beach.
M.Hương: She was on the school volleyball team, should we suggest she join beach
volleyball?
T.Hương: You are absolutely right. She may like her favorite subject. What game is
more interesting?
M.Hương: What about kite flying? I think it's pretty cool but it doesn't seem to be very
fresh.
T.Hương: She is a strong and adventurous person. Maybe scuba diving would suit her.
M.Hương: You're right. She can also observe deep sea creatures.
T.Hương: Sure. I tried surfing on my previous trip. Should I suggest it to her?
M.Hương: I think it's quite difficult,  she needs a lot of practice to get good at it.
T.Hương: I see what you mean. She's so good she can do it if instructed.
M.Hương: So surfing or scuba diving, which should we choose?
T.Hương: I think we should choose surfing because scuba diving is quite expensive.
M.Hương: Okay. We have decided to choose surfing for Sam.

PART 2: SIMULATED SITUATION (2 – 3 mins)

she doesn't have any good ideas, she asks you to suggest a suitable place. Here are some
pictures of places to visit:

have any good ideas. I know you often travel to a lot of places. Can you tell me about the
trip you like best?
MỸ: Of course. How long is your holiday?

QUỲNH: Just a week.

MỸ: So, what do you think about Quang Ninh?

QUỲNH: Quang Ninh, I haven't gone there. What’s the special thing  about Quang Ninh?

MỸ: It's so beautiful. You can visit many caves like Coto, Tuan Chau by boat. Inside the
caves, there are many sparkling stalactites like crystals. Specially, It has many luxury
resorts with many service. Then you can stop at Quang Ninh .
QUỲNH: Oh, sounds really great. Can we eat a lot of delicious food there?

MỸ: Of course, I’ll stop next time.

QUỲNH: Amazing! Quang Ninh’s so wonderful, I can't help traveling there. Thank you
very much.
MỸ: I sure you with like there.

4. E: Mai's birthday is coming up, her mother wants to give Mai a surprise gift. Her
mother called Mai's friend to help her choose a birthday gift for

Khuyên: Hello , what are you doing, call me?

Quỳnh: Hi, Mai's birthday is coming up soon. Can you help me choose a gift that Mai
likes the most?
Khuyên: I am very happy to help you. I see Mai very excited about tomorrow’s birthday
party.
Quỳnh:  Oh, I saw a very nice bag at the shopping mall the other day.
Khuyên: Wow, But I see Mai’s new school bag at the beginning of the school year is still
in good use.
Quỳnh: That's right! it may not be necessary. What do you think about a laptop? I will
buy it for Mai to study online.
Khuyên: That’s a good idea. Is this computer a bit expensive? We don’t even need to
have our own computers.
Quỳnh: Can you give me an idea?
Khuyên: The other day, I saw Mai staring at the baker and Mai told me : “ She wanted a
cake just for her” .
Quỳnh: Good idea. I will make Mai a birthday cake. Mai must be very happy.
Khuyên: That’s great.
Quỳnh: Thank you very much.
Khuyên: Yes, nothing.

PART 2:
Bản 1:
Next week is your friend's birthday. Talk together about the sorts of presents you can buy
and then decide which one to get for her.

Script:
A Lona is speaking. Who’s there?
T: Hi Lona. It's me, Tracy. Oh, what should I do…
A: What happened? Your voice sounds so exhausted.
T: Yes, I think I will go insane.
A: Why? Tell me.
T: Next week is my best friend’s birthday but I still do not have any ideas about a present for
her. I always think about it these days. Do you have any ideas for me?
A: Uhm… Let me see. What about a birthday cake? You can make a cake for her. I am sure this
present will be so special because it’s made by you.
T: You have a high opinion but…
A: But what?
T: I tried to make some cakes and almost all of them are not good. I also think that her birthday
would have enough cakes.
A: What a pity! Um… How about a bunch of flowers? You can give it to her after she makes a
wish. That will be a big surprise for her. Your friend is a girl, right?
T: Yup.
A: So flowers would be the best choice. I guess every girl loves flowers.
T: Ok, but can you give me more ideas? I want to compare them.
A: A card?
T: Just a card?
A: Not just a normal card. A card written by yourself is much more wonderful than any gifts
bought from a shop.
T: Oh you’re right. So I will give her a bunch of flowers and a card made by myself.
A: Yup, a perfectly mixed present. The best gift is the gift from your heart.
T: Thanks An. I know what to do right now.
A: Alright. You’re welcome. See you then
T: Ah hah. Take care.

Bản 2:
Two students are planning a trip to go from Hanoi to DaNang.
Talk together about the different means of transport they can choose and say which would
be the best choice.
T: Do you remember our trip on Friday this week?
D: Yes, of course. But we haven’t chosen the transport yet. Do you have any ideas?
T: Oh yeah. I think we should go by plane. It’s very fast and convenient. We can enjoy the
spectacular view from the window and kick back in comfort when we’re on the plane.
D: You’re absolutely right. But it’s expensive for us.
T: How about the coach? It is cheaper.
D: Hmmm. It usually stops to pick up other passengers and I can’t stand it because of my car
sickness.
T: Ok. So we can’t go in my father’s car, either.
D: Yeah. I think the train is better. What do you think?
T: It’s ok. Cheaper, quieter and we can sleep throughout the trip. We also can buy some fast food
or drinks when we’re on the train.
D: That's right. Let’s buy them at the grocery near my house. There are a lot of things that we
like.
T: Ok. Let’s go.

Bản 3:

Script:

Nhung: Hi Duong, how are you doing?

N: Pretty good, I just finished a project this morning.

D: Good, how about going to a movie tonight?

N: Good idea, it has been a long time since I saw a film last time.

D: I am a big movie fan! What type of movies do you like?

N: I don’t have a specific preference. I saw a lot of different kinds of movies.

D: Oh, I see. What about the End Game? The movie is a big hit right now. All my friends who
had seen this movie gave me very positive feedback.

N: Sure! I’m excited. Which cinema shall we go to?

D: National Cinema, have you been there before?

N: I haven’t been there before, but I saw some reports about that cinema on Facebook.

D: Great, is that ok if we meet at the entrance of the cinema around 7:00 p.m?

N: No problem. I will see you there at 7:00 p.m.

D: OK, see you.

Bản 4: You and your family would like to eat out together. Decide what type of meal you
would enjoy the most.

Discuss ideas and make informed decisions. You have two minutes to complete this task.

Script:
Ngọc : This Sunday, my family and I want to eat out together because we haven't been able to
relax together in a long time. But we don't know where to eat yet.
Nguyệt : Let's think about it. How about a posh restaurant?
Ngọc : Oh I don't think so. Because it will be very expensive for the whole family. Plus, in a
posh restaurant, there are too many rules and we want to be able to talk freely.
Nguyệt : What do you think about an outdoor cafe? I used to eat there with my mother.
However, I think the food there is not so good.
Ngọc : I think so. I want to eat fast food but my mom says it's too greasy and not good for my
health.
Nguyệt : That’s right. There are so many delicious and healthy foods. I think you should have a
picnic with your family.
Ngọc : That's a good idea. We've never had a picnic together. The newly opened park has a very
beautiful lake. They also keep swans there. We will eat on the lawn and watch swans together.
But I don't want my mom to cook.
Nguyệt : Don’t worry. Instead, your whole family cooks together. It will be a memorable
experience.
Ngọc : Maybe you’re right. After school, I'll go buy a picnic mat. Do you want to come with me?
Nguyệt : Sure. I will also buy one for my family.
Ngọc : I remember, my brother really wants to eat ice cream at Dairy Queen. After leaving the
park, we will go to Dairy Queen on the way home.
Nguyệt : I think it will be a wonderful and memorable Sunday.
Ngọc : You’re absolutely right. Going on a picnic and eating ice cream together, we'll take a lot
of pictures and I'll show you next Monday.
Nguyệt : I’m looking forward to seeing it.
Imagine that your school wants to buy new equipment for their media
club.Talk together about the different things they could buy

Trang: Hey Thao, I heard our school wants to buy some new equipment for the
media club. Do you think the best one is a new camera?
Thao:I am not sure about that. I think I haven't bought a camera. I only use it for a
few events. Also It’s very expensive. What do you think about buying a TV ?
Trang: I think buying a TV is not the best option. It's not really necessary at the
moment because the media club has two very good televisions. In my opinion,
buying a new headset is not bad.
Thao: Oh no. We don’t really need that. It’s used to listen to music  and watch
movies on TV. The media club is not needed.
Trang: Maybe you’re right. What do you think if our school buys a tablet
computer ?
Thao :  I think that's also necessary, but it's better to buy a laptop. It helps us with
many things such as : planning, programming and finding information on the
Internet.
Trang: Oh yes. I couldn't agree more. Laptop is a very safe tool for data storage
which is being used in various fields. So it  is an indispensable device in the
school's media club.
Thao: So, do we agree that a laptop is the best one?
Trang: That’s true!
Thao: OK. Bye.
Trang:  Bye.
