Lesson 1 ORGANIZATION

● What’s more” p. 25-26 (Graphic Organizer)

Read the excerpt of the film review lifted from (Lionheartv.net, 2017). Then record the
sequence of events on a graphic organizer.

BEGINNING

The story started when Manuel, the patriarch of the Bonifacio family was
diagnosed with lung cancer. The story starts when the father of 4 announced to his
kids that he is going to die soon. This father is widowed who felt lonely and missed
the company of his grown-up kids. Upon learning of their father's condition, the
siblings decided to spend time with him every Sunday. Even though they have their
personal issues and differences, they decided to do this for their father. Everything
has gone well when they spent Sundays with their father.

MIDDLE

Despite all the struggles of his four children, they decided to stay under one roof to
grant their father’s dying wish. As they spent more time, they got to know each other again.
The eldest son, Allan, and the second son, Bryan had a talk about Bryan's troubles. One day,
the father received a call from his doctor stating that he made a wrong diagnosis. They had a
talk and the father explained why he decided not to tell the truth. The eldest son, Allan,
expressed his feelings about the situation and convinced the father to reveal the truth in their

next get-together. At the start of the get-together, the youngest son, Dex, found out about
his sister's marital problems. The whole family also found out about Dex's troubles and had a
confrontation with Bryan. Cha's problems are brought out in the open, too.

END

In the end, their father's real condition was revealed and this created an
exchange of painful words against the siblings. After a couple of days, Allan
apologized to Bryan and they patched things up. They both took the chance to
apologize to Dex, as well. All of the three had gone to Cha's house to visit her and
check her situation. All of them met their father at their mother's grave and they
talked to their dad about how they appreciated his sacrifices for the family. They
solved the issues and it ends with the revival of Allan's store and a dance showdown
with the rival. With the financial assistance of Bryan, the richest among all four
siblings, the family’s business was saved from bankruptcy and they all live in
harmony and love.

● What can I do on p. 27

Using a graphic organizer, write an episode of your life by providing events beginning from

The Delve Into Clouds
by Rhyah Austrie Reyes

Minding the habit from the quotation of Mahatma Gandhi, wherein he stated that "Happiness
is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony", would definitely stitch an
impact on everyone's lives. In fact, it has been instilled in my heart to be happy with the things I do
since I was a kid.

Being the eldest kid in the family, I always knew that happiness leads to contentment. Apart
from the events that happened to me as a toddler up to young adulthood does not necessarily mean
that I should always feel happy, for there will always be times that things would not go like you planned.

Life is a rollercoaster ride -- we should be able to see things with positivity and happiness, for us
to cherish everything that we do. For some, getting material things is what makes them happy and we
have to respect them. But for me, what makes me happy is investing time into myself to be better; by
serving the community; hanging out with friends and family; fulfilling my goals; being optimistic as
much as I can; and lastly, valuing the time that I have in this world.

As a volunteer of different youth organizations here in the Philippines, my idea of happiness is

by the act of service in being part of the change and peace-building. In my friends and family, I do love
going out with them to build a happy and strong relationship as we have to live this life to the fullest.
Lastly, as to myself, I pledged to myself that I would always try in every opportunity that is aligned to my
interests, for me to have improvements on what I envision.
.
If we can make progress regularly, we would constantly feel alive and that's the secret to
making it a habit. Above all, indulging in the things that one loves becomes the key to a happy life.
Hence, love and happiness are directly linked to each other. Without love, happiness would not exist
and might not result in someone's contentment.

On the whole, the key to happiness lies in doing what one loves. A lot of people end up having a
chaotic life, filled with regrets; this happens because they settle for something that they do not
genuinely like. We must spend our time on things that will make us feel genuinely happy.

● Additional Activities p. 30

Rewrite the paragraph below by organizing the flow of ideas. Make sure that the links are
made clear between each point.

One of my favorite books is entitled “Me Before You”. It’s written by Jojo Moyes. It has a
movie adaptation that was directed by Thea Sharrock. The movie adaptation and the written
book show similarities and differences. The plot of the book and the movie are completely the
same. The catch in some parts of the book is not in the movie. The movie adaptation catches
the gist of the book’s story. Regarding emotions, both the book and movie justify the tragic
ending of the story. I was more moved to the movie adaptation. I can clearly see the scene
with a good background, the emotion of the character portrayed by the actors, and I can
clearly hear the dialogues. Both are enjoying but I was more satisfied with the book. It’s very
detailed. The movie can offer you the whole package without a sense of curiosity. If I were to
choose between its published book and movie adaptation, I would choose the book. Books
can be a wild curious journey of the reader or traveler.

Answer:
One of my favorite books is entitled “Me Before You” and it’s written by Jojo Moyes.
Moreover, it has a movie adaptation that was directed by Thea Sharrock. In fact, the movie

Although the plot of the book and the movie are completely the same, the catch in
some parts of the book is not in the movie. However, the movie adaptation catches the gist of
the book’s story.
On the other hand, regarding emotions, both the book and movie justify the tragic
ending of the story. After all, I was more moved to the movie adaptation as I can clearly see
the scene with a good background, the emotion of the character portrayed by the actors, and
I can clearly hear the dialogues.
Even though both are enjoying, I was more satisfied with the book as it is very
detailed. It can offer you the whole package without a sense of curiosity.
As has been said, if I were to choose between its published book and movie
adaptation, I would choose the book as it can be a wild curious journey of the reader or
traveler.
