聖誕節節慶教學與活動設計

教學對象：5 年級以上
教學長度：二~四堂課
教學目標：1. 知道聖誕節的由來
2. 學習與聖誕節相關的關鍵字
3. 學習句型及對話運用或戲劇
4. 學習聖誕歌曲
5. 聖誕老公公的造型設計或聖誕卡設計

教學設計：
預教：進入聖誕節教學前，先將第一張預習式的任務學習單發給學生（學習單每人 1 份自存+全
組應繳出 1 份），將學生分組，讓學生學習用字典查單字及上網查出與聖誕節相關事物，並以一
首聖誕歌作為 Show and Tell 題材，學生要提口說報告分享資料取得過程及感想。
＊分組有利於團體合作學習，讓學習較慢者也能參與而不至於因為無法獨立完成任務式學習方式
（Task-based Learning）而產生挫折感。

教學流程：
A. Warm UP：
（1） 老師先請學生將預習式的任務學習單中第一部份所有單字寫在黑板上，或製成海報。接下
來發給各組一樣多的貼紙（不同組不同形式或顏色）數量。請學生拿出預習學習單檢示完
成度，採競賽式，老師唸出其中一字，各組舉旗或舉牌（可用扇子）搶答，由一人代表回
答出數字及中文意義，過關即可貼上那一組的貼紙（如無貼紙亦可以不同色的筆或粉筆圈
選），學生程度如果不錯，亦可由老師說出號碼，學生搶答說出該單字及意義。過程中請
老師多用教室美語。以下句型供參考：What does Santa mean in Chinese? What number is it?
What is number 2? What does it mean in Chinese? Are you sure? Who’s going to answer the next
question? Whose turn now? You are right. No, sorry, that’s not right. It’s wrong. Bingo. You got
it. Excellent. Not bad. Fantastic. Bravo. That’s it. Take your time. Please help each other.
＊除搶答方式外，亦可用黏巴球由各組代表隨意投出，投中哪個單字，說出英文唸法及中文意義
即過關，可在該字上貼該組的記號。亦可用抽號碼球（籤）方式，球或籤中可安排機會牌，也許
加倍得分或扣分，老師可依該班學習特性做安排。
（此部份學生對所有單字有中文意義的認知有助於學生在老師敘述聖誕節由來時對內容的了解。
不同老師有不同教學方式及堅持，本活動僅為參考之用，如何發展自己獨特的教學方式仍是筆者
所樂見。）

（2） 遊戲：填字大王 Puzzle Game

此遊戲可個人可團體，老師指定第一個單字做開始，如：Christmas 可先寫好位置，亦可
請學生自行在格子中選好位置以橫的或直的方向填好該單字，接下來請學生由此字開始向
上下左右發展，完成最多單字者加分。

＊ 單字內容亦可以聖誕歌曲中的單字為主，或其他教學單元的單字。
＊ 如果學生程度不錯，可讓學生利用所學單字編聖誕節的故事，可實務可天花亂墜。

B. Presentation：Storytelling
老師可參照附錄之劇本、文化小檔案及圖卡依上課時間容許擇選做故事教學。或直接說明現代
人如何慶祝聖誕節（請參照附錄 3 之 D 項圖卡）。
December 25 is Christmas Day but people feel the atmosphere earlier. Most people decorate their
home with lights, wreath and other images about Christmas. They prepare a Christmas tree and
decorated it with angels, gold balls, candy canes and other ornaments. Finally they put the big star at
the top of the Christmas tree. Kids hang stockings for Santa to put their gifts in. On Christmas Eve
family get together and have a big dinner. They put gifts under the Christmas tree and exchange the
gifts with each other on Christmas Day. They say “Merry Christmas!” to each other. People also write
Christmas cards to their love ones and friends to spread their bliss.

Story Q and A 時間：可依預習任務學習單及故事內容提問題做口說練習。亦可製成學習單讓學生

有寫的練習。

以生動有趣的話劇或手偶方式演出耶穌的誕生（馬槽裡的聖嬰），提供劇本供參考，見附錄二。

D. Others
可製作聖誕卡、寫信給聖誕老公公或為自己心目中的聖誕老公公做造型。

＊ 文化小檔案
I. 聖誕節的歷史
聖誕節的歷史要回溯到四千年前，許多聖誕節的傳統在耶蘇誕生前就已存在。聖誕節十二天、
光明的燈火、聖誕木（yule log）、愧贈禮物、嘉年華會、屋前傳福音、佳節盛宴以及教堂聚會都可
回溯到早期的美索不達米亞時期。這些傳統多數由美索不達米亞人慶祝新年開始，美索不達米亞
人信仰諸多神明，主神是馬杜克（Marduk）。每年冬天人們相信 Marduk 得和混沌之神相鬥，為
了幫助 Marduk 美索不達米亞人舉辦新年慶祝活動，稱之為 Zagmuk，此新年節慶持續十二天。
波斯人和巴比倫人也同樣慶祝一個叫做 Sacaea 的節慶。這個節慶包括地位交換，奴隸成了主
人而主人得遵守。
早期歐洲人相信邪靈、女巫、鬼魂及山精。在寒冬之際太陽會消失，三十五天後北歐人會上山
頂迎接太陽，當他們看到第一道陽光後及下山展開 Yuletide（聖誕節）。他們圍著由聖誕木（Yule
log）點燃的火堆大肆慶祝，有些地區人們會在樹枝上綁蘋果提醒他們春天和夏天就要來臨。
古希臘人也舉辦類似的慶祝活動幫助他們的神 Kronos 對抗宙斯 Zeus 及他的泰坦神族 Titans.
羅馬人頌揚他們的農神 Saturn，他們的節日稱為農神節從十二月中一直慶祝到一月一日止，
他們大叫“Jo Saturnalia!”活動包括街上化妝舞會、盛宴大餐、拜訪朋友及交換好運禮物（good-
luck gifts）原稱呼為 Strenae 幸運水果之意。然而基督徒認為此舉是榮耀異教神的可憎行為。早期
基督徒想要保存基督之子的生日唯一莊嚴且宗教性的節日而不事像農神節那種歡呼喜慶的活動。
初時教會禁止這種慶祝活動但無效，最後決定是慶祝活動要溫和且適合上帝之子的方式。
有些傳說聲稱基督徒的「聖誕節」是為抵制異教徒十二月的慶典而生，二十五日對羅馬人和
波斯人而言都是個神聖的日子。教會最後成功地將農神節中的喜慶、燈火及禮物等融入聖誕節。

II. 聖誕節的故事
源自聖經，Mary 是一村莊少女與青年 Joseph 訂有婚約，然而婚前 Joseph 發現 Mary 懷有身
孕，Joseph 是位正直的人，他不想 Mary 受到大眾的恥辱而思索著悄悄的取消婚約。當晚天使出
現在 Joseph 的夢中告訴他說：「David 之子，Joseph，別害怕娶 Mary 為妻，因為他懷的是聖靈，
她將生個兒子，你將為他取名 Jesus，因為他將拯救眾人之罪。」Joseph 醒來後依天使所言娶了
Mary 為妻。（Matthew Chapters 1&2）
當時 Carsar Augustus 下達命令整個羅馬要戶口調查，因此每個老百姓均得返鄉登記。Joseph 的
故鄉在 Bethlehem，當他帶著 Mary 一起回鄉時正逢 Mary 臨盆之際，然而旅店無空房，Mary 在馬
廄中產下兒子，她將他用衣物包好安置在馬槽中，這就是我們知道的「馬槽裡的聖嬰」。
住在附近的牧羊人在晚上看羊時，天使來訪，上天的光輝籠罩著牧羊人而嚇著他們，天使告

訴他們：「不要害怕，我為眾生帶來絕大喜悅的好消息。」他告訴牧羊人救世主已誕生，並要他們
跟著指示找到馬槽裡的嬰兒。牧羊人一個傳一個並決定前往 Bethlehem 去證實上帝所言，牧羊人
們果真找到 Mary、Joseph 及嬰兒，他們將所聽所見傳出去，聽到的人無不感到驚奇。（Luke
Chapters 1＆2&3:21-28）。
當耶蘇誕生時，星光籠罩 Bethlehem，在東方有三位王者（一說智者）看到了，他們知道那
是一個指示，於是隨著星星騎駱駝翻山越嶺來到聖嬰所在，他們深深敬禮並獻上黃金、乳香及沒
藥等禮物。他們回去後將會將此好消息傳播下去。

III. 聖誕老公公的傳說
聖誕老公公的歷史起源於一位土耳其主教，人稱聖人尼可拉斯（Saint Nicholas），他因慈善
和智慧聞名。傳說他家境富裕常濟貧，也有人說他擁有魔力。十一世紀時，來自義大利的虔誠士
兵將他的遺體帶回義大利，並在巴利（Bari）建教堂榮耀他。很快地，來自世界各處的清教徒均
前來膜拜，這些清教徒將尼可拉斯的傳奇帶回他們的故鄉，這個傳奇也就在不同國家發展出不同
的特色。
在歐洲，十二世紀時，聖人尼可拉斯日變成送禮物和做慈善的日子。在德國、法國及荷蘭將
十二月六日設為宗教日，在這天送禮物給小孩及貧民。
當荷蘭殖民來到美洲，他們帶著一位身穿紅一騎白馬的樸素主教 Sinterklaas（即 Saint
Nicholas）。美國的 Sinterklass 形象慢慢地演變為一位愉快的老精靈。初時華盛頓．艾爾文
（Washington Irving）在他的作品「紐約的歷史」History of New York 中將他形容成一位胖胖的愉快
的荷蘭老人，1823 年 Sinterklaas/Saint Nicholas 因克萊蒙．摩爾（Clement Moore）的詩 A Visit
from St. Nicholas 而持續此形象。1860 年卡通畫家湯馬斯．拿斯特（Thomas Nast）為哈潑週報
（Harper’s Weekly）畫的插圖中 Santa Claus 是位胖胖的慈祥老人，這個形象深植美國人心中，進
而擴展至全世界。

IV. 聖誕襪的由來
從前有個貴族，妻子死後留下他和三個女兒。該貴族因不當投資而家財散盡被迫搬到農舍，
而三個女兒們得自己煮飯洗衣。到了這三個女兒的適婚年齡時，父親因無法供得起嫁妝而感到傷
心。一晚，三個女兒洗衣後將他們得長襪吊在壁爐上方烘乾。知道這位父親的心情，聖人尼可拉
斯 Saint Nicholas 這晚來到他們的屋前，看到女兒們的長襪，於是在這家人睡著後從煙囪上丟下
金子到女兒們的長襪中。隔天早上女兒們起床發現這些金子剛好夠給她們辦嫁妝，父親也很欣慰
地看到女兒結婚並過著幸福快樂的日子。

2. myrrh 沒藥，橄欖科沒藥屬植物，有 185 種。帶刺的落葉灌木，原產非洲及西亞，葉廣橢圓或

中間最寬，花小，雌雄分株。東非和阿拉伯所產幾個種分泌芳香樹脂沒藥，用於製造薰香和香
料。
3. mistletoe 檞寄生，桑寄生科半寄生常綠灌木，原產歐洲、北非和亞洲。莖長可達 1 公尺，枝規律
分叉。葉革質，色淡黃，對生，花小，3-5 簇，綠黃色，雌雄異株，漿果白色。懈寄生通常寄生於
落葉樹（常在蘋果樹上，但也寄生於其他種樹），種子發芽後將吸根插入寄生維管組織，從中吸
取營養。古代德魯伊德人崇拜懈寄生，在儀式中用金刀從他們供奉的聖橡樹上割取懈寄生，過去
普遍認為懈寄生能治不育症並有解毒作用，現在則用為聖誕節的裝飾物。
