Operation

4) Operation under abnormal conditions(1)

1. Extreme cold.
- avoid sudden travel movement and 1) Check cooling system for correct mixture of antifreeze
stay form even on gradual slopes. solution for lowest expected temperature.
- warning up engine for a short period. 2) Keep batteries fully charged to prevent freezing.
3) Use engine oil with proper specifications for expected
temperatures. (refer to “Operation manual”)
4) Always keep fuel tank full. Drain condensation from
tank, drain and service fuel filter.
5) Clean off all mud, snow and ice to prevent freezing.

2. Extreme heat.
- monitor engine & hydraulic system temp. 1) Make frequent inspections and services of fan and
and stop machine to let it cool. radiator(coolant level). Check grilles and radiator fins
for accumulation of dirt, debris and insects.
2) Check level of battery electrolyte daily.
(if machine is to stand for several days,
remove batteries and store in a cool place)
3) In hot, damp climates, corrosion will occur on all parts
of machine and will be accelerated during rainy season
(protect all unfinished, exposed surfaces with a film of
preservative lubricating oil) 35
Operation

4) Operation under abnormal conditions(2)

3. Dusty and sandy areas.

1) Keep cooling system fins and cooling area clean.
Blow out with compressed air, if possible,
as often as necessary.
2) Use care when servicing fuel system to prevent
dust and sand from entering tank.
3) Service air cleaner at frequent intervals, check air
restriction indicator daily and keep out sup
and dust valve clean.

4. High altitudes.
1) Check engine operating temperature for evidence of
overheating. The radiator cap must make a perfect
seal to maintain coolant pressure in cooling system.
2) Perform warming-up operation thoroughly.
3) If battery electrolyte is frozen, do not charge battery
or start engine with a different power source.
(there is potential hazard that could cause a battery
explosion or fire)
36
Operation

4) Operation under abnormal conditions(3)

5. Allowable water depth.

Do not enter water whose depth exceeds the loader's
minimum ground clearance height or is high enough to
wet the bottom of the axle housing.
- As a rule of thumb,
the allowable water depth is about 400 mm.

6. Towing machine

When necessary to tow another vehicle, the tow rope

must be tied to the towing pin on the counterweight.
- Do not tow machine at a speed over 10km/h and
father than 10km.

6. Allowable water depth. 37

Operation

4) Operation under abnormal conditions(4)

7. Tire wearing or different size tire (Front / rear, Left/ right)

Do not use different diameter of tire between front and rear
axle, left and right wheel
If the machine use different diameter of tire, differential
works always and might be damaged finally

8. Tire protection chain

Doosan does not recommend to use tire protection chain
If the machine use it, machine total weight is increased,
axle and transmission could get more operating/traveling
load, so the machine gets serious damage on power train
system/components.

38
Operation

5) Long term storage

1. Before storage
Keep the machine in the position to prevent rust of the
hydraulic piston rods.
- Store the machine in an indoor, stable place. If stored
outside, cover with a waterproof tarp
- Perform lubrication procedures on all grease points
- Remove battery from the machine to be fully charged and
stored.
- Inspect the coolant recovery tank and radiator to make
sure the antifreeze level in the system is correct
2. During storage
Once a month, start the engine and follow the
"Hydraulic Oil Warm-up" procedures
- Operate hydraulic functions for traveling, boom and
attachment two or three times for lubrication after "Hydraulic
Oil Warm-up". Coat all the moving parts and surfaces of the
components with a new oil film after operating. At the same
time, charge the battery
