THREE REASONS WHY NUMBERS ARE IMPORTANT


As we speak about numbers, the word that rushes
into our minds is math. According to a dictionary
math is a science that deals with numbers and
logic. Some of us really find it very difficult but
some really enjoy it. This is important for all of us
because this helps to improve our mental skills
together with critical-thinking. Children often say, “I HATE NUMBERS AND
MATH” but they really don’t know that numbers have many uses and
importance in our life.

Here are some reasons why numbers are important:

▪ First, we always find numbers in our everyday life. We


are using them in adding, subtracting, multiplying and
dividing our payments or other expenses. For example,
if we go to the supermarket or any store, we would not
be able to know the total amount we spent and our
change if we don’t learn numbers.
▪ Second, numbers are important in some courses or
professions of people. Numbers are included
in marketing, architecture, sciences and many
other professions. For example, if we are
going to apply for a job in some companies, we
could not be accepted because we do not know
math, even basic
addition, subtraction or
any.
▪ Third, by learning or knowing numbers, children
of all ages improve their logical skills in math,
their ability to solve problems on their own and

they improve their skills in thinking in abstract ways.


Now, we all know some of the importance of numbers in our life.

ACTIVITY

After the reading of the guide:

1. Underline the unknown words, search it on the dictionary and write the
meaning on the notebook
2. Write ten sentences related to the use of numbers in your ordinary
day and draw them.
3. Create a crossword with ten words from the guide, don’t solve it.
4. Create an ACROSTIC related to the word: NUMBER. (Extra point if
this is in English)
