GRADE- 6

Core Learning Area Standard:

The learner demonstrates understanding and appreciation of key concepts and
principles of mathematics as applied - using appropriate technology - in problem solving,
critical thinking, communicating, reasoning, making connections, representations, and
decisions in real life.

Key Stage Standard:

At the end of Grade 6, the learner demonstrates understanding and appreciation of key
concepts and skills involving numbers and number sense (whole numbers, number theory,
fractions, decimals, ratio and proportion, percent, and integers);measurement (time, speed,
perimeter, circumference and area of plane figures, volume and surface area of solid/space
figures, temperature and meter reading); geometry (parallel and perpendicular lines, angles,
triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, and solid figures); patterns and algebra (continuous
and repeating patterns, number sentences, sequences, and simple equations); statistics and
probability (bar graphs, line graphs and pie graphs, simple experiment, and experimental
probability) as applied -using appropriate technology - in critical thinking, problem solving,
reasoning, communicating, making connections, representations, and decisions in real life.

Grade Level Standard:

The learner demonstrates understanding and appreciation of key concepts and skills
involving numbers and number sense (divisibility, order of operations, fractions and decimals
including money, ratio and proportion, percent, integers); geometry (plane and solid figures);
patterns and algebra (sequence, expression, and equation); measurement (rate, speed, area,
surface area, volume, and meter reading); and statistics and probability (tables, pie graphs, and
experimental and theoretical probability) as applied - using appropriate technology - in critical
thinking, problem solving, reasoning, communicating, making connections, representations, and

MATHEMATICS 9
FIRST QUARTER:
WEEK 5

I. Overview:
This lesson focuses on multiplication of decimal and mixed number with and without regrouping
including problem solving strategies. Furthermore, it also intensifies the important value every piece of
part of a whole thing.
.

II. Learning Objectives:

The learners are expected to:
▪ multiplies decimals and mixed decimals with factors up to 2 decimal places.
▪ multiplies mentally decimals up to 2 decimals places by 0.1, 0.01,10, and 100.
▪ solves routine and non-routine problems involving multiplication of decimals and mixed decimals
including money using appropriate problem-solving strategies.; and
▪ appreciate and understand the important value every piece of part of a whole thing.

III. Materials Needed:

▪ Multimedia Devices: PowerPoint Presentation, YouTube

▪ Devices: Laptop, Speaker, headset, microphone, etc.

IV. References:
▪ Galamay, D. (2018). Math for smart learners 6. DIWA Learning System Inc.32-43

V. Lesson Proper:

A. ACTIVITY:
Session 1: Math Investigate.
Compute the total amount needed to buy all the school supplies that you need.

Session 3: Compare and Contrast.

Based on the solution, compare the differences and similarities on how to get the product
of whole number and mixed decimal

B. ANALYSIS:
Session 1: Multiplication of decimals.
▪ Do we have to align the decimal? will you think that there is an effect on the answer if we
do not align it?
▪ How are we going to place the decimal point in its proper place?
▪ How do you multiply decimal?
▪ Why is it importance to know the multiplying of a fractions? Give some examples of
real-life situation.

Session 3: Word Problem.

▪ How will you compute the total price of all item?
▪ How will you compute the total price of each item?
▪ Why is it important for us solve the problem involving multiplication?

C. ABSTRACTION
Session 1: Multiplication of decimals.
▪ Multiply the decimal numbers, align first the decimal numbers being multiplied on the
right. You do not need to align the decimal points. Then multiply the number in the same
way that you multiply whole numbers. Count the total number of decimal places of the
decimal number being multiplied. The number of decimal places in the product should be
the same number as the total number of decimal places of the decimal number multiplied.
Galamay, D. (2018).

Session 3: Word Problems.

▪ Use APPS method when solving problem
Asked: Identify what is being asked or what is needed to be solve in the problem
Probe: Get all the information that can help you to solve the problem
Plan: Decide and choose the best strategy or techniques to solve the problem.
Solve: Solve the problem. Then show complete solution.
Galamay, D. (2018).

D. APPLICATION
▪ Cite a real-life situation illustrating multiplying of decimal numbers.
▪ Make a concept map in getting the multiplying of decimal numbers.
▪ Solve problem involving multiplying of decimal numbers

E. CLOSURE
3-2-1: 3 things they learned, 2 things they have a question about, 1 thing
they want the instructor to know

VI. Assessment
Session 2:
LAS #1 – A: SKILL BOOSTER –
Place the decimal point in its proper place in the product.

Session 4:
LAS #1- B: SKILL BOOSTER
A. Multiply the given decimal. Write your answer on the blank
B. Read each word problem. Then solve it. Write your answer and show your
solution on the space provided.

VII. Assignment/Announcement
 Announcement:
a. Always do your LAS and Assignment and do not forget to pass it on time.
b. Copying the work of your classmate is cheating and to those students that have the same
work specially in Application part will be marked as zero.
