1. PLANNING INFORMATION

1.A. EFFECTIVITY

1.A.1. Helicopters/installed equipment or parts

AS350 helicopters, versions B, B2, B3 and BA with a serial number listed on page 1.

1.A.2. Non-installed equipment or parts

Not applicable.

1.B. ASSOCIATED REQUIREMENTS

Not applicable.

1.C. REASON

Airbus Helicopters recently participated in an investigation following an accident which occurred on an

AS350 B3 and which involved a loss of control in hover flight.
The investigations performed in the scope of this enquiry showed that the action on the "HYD" switch of the
collective stick activated the three solenoid valves of the main rotor actuator accumulators and the solenoid
valve of the Valve Filter Unit (BFS) (normal operation) but also activated the solenoid valve of the tail rotor
load compensator (abnormal operation).

Additional investigations have highlighted that this abnormal operation was due to an error/non-conformity in
the wiring performed during compliance with ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN No. 29.00.07 which was
performed several years earlier by a repair/overhaul workshop (wiring error/non-conformity related to
non-use of the appropriate wiring kit).
This wire error/non-conformity was not detected neither during the Service Bulletin application check nor
during the regular periodic inspection phases.

An enquiry was performed with this repair/overhaul workshop and it was found that this wiring error/non-
conformity was potentially reproduced on eighteen additional helicopters on which the workshop performed
maintenance operations without using the recommended kit.
Even though the dysfunction resulting from this error/non-conformity must be detected during the regular
periodic inspections of the hydraulic system, Airbus Helicopters makes it mandatory to perform a check of
the hydraulic system and to make the wiring compliant using the appropriate wiring kit issued from the
ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN No. 29.00.07.

1.D. DESCRIPTION

This ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN consists to:

- not permitted hydraulic failure trainings until the check of the “hydraulic cut-off” function,
- check the “hydraulic cut-off” function (“HYD” switch on the collective stick) of the main hydraulic generation,
- apply again the ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN No. 29.00.07 using the appropriate wiring kit.

1.E.2. Compliance in service

Helicopters/installed equipment:

The operator must do the work on the helicopter.

Following reception of revision 0 of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN, hydraulic failure trainings (refer to
SUP.7. of the Flight Manual (PMV)) are not permitted until compliance with paragraph 3. of this
ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN.

Comply with paragraph 3. of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN, within 15 flight hours or 7 days (first limit
reached) from receipt of revision 0 of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN, issued on the date indicated in the
page footer.

Following application of paragraph 3. of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN:

- Inform the Airbus Helicopters Support Department concerning the results by creating a
Technical Event (TE) on WebTEK:
https://airbusworld.helicopters.airbus.com
or
TechnicalSupport.Helicopters@airbus.com
- Interpret the results:
. if the check is not correct, comply with ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN No. 29.00.07 before the next flight.
. if the check is correct, comply with ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN No. 29.00.07 within 150 flight hours
following the application of paragraph 3. of the present ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN.

Non-installed equipment or parts:

Not applicable.
