1.B ASSOCIATED REQUIREMENTS

1.C REASON
The currently installed locking mechanisms for the sliding doors have door caution
indications installed. During flights, the door caution indications may give false
signals to the crew, due to the movement and vibration of the sliding doors.
With this SB, Airbus Helicopters offers the installation of new door caution
indications that will be independent from the movements and vibrations of the
sliding doors during flight.

1.D DESCRIPTION
Remove the door caution indication. Modify the cabin frame and the adjacent
helicopter structure. Install the mechanism assemblies. Do the functional test of the
sliding door proximity switches.

3 ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
3.A GENERAL
Obey the “General Recommendations for Working at Helicopters”
(AMM 00-20-02, 2-1).

3.B WORK STEPS

3.B.1 Preliminary steps


Remove the middle left panel and the middle right panel (AMM 25-20-00, 4-1).

3.B.2 Removal of the door caution indications

NOTE In the following steps, the removal of the door caution indication
LH is described. The removal of the door caution indication RH is
similar.
1. Remove the upper door bracket LH (3, Fig. 1) and the proximity switch (2)
(AMM 52-70-00, 4-2).
2. Discard the upper door bracket LH (3, Fig. 1) and its attaching parts.
3. If the proximity switch (2, Fig. 1) is not damaged, put it on stock.

3.B.3 Modification of the cabin frame and the adjacent helicopter structure

NOTE In the following steps, the modification of the cabin frame LH and
the adjacent helicopter structure LH is described. The modifications
on the RH side are similar.
1. Remove and discard the edge protection (5, Fig. 1) from the helicopter
structure (1).
2. Mark the dimension of the enlarged cutout of the helicopter structure (1, Fig. 1)
in accordance with the measurements given in Figure 1 View B.
3. Use a milling head to enlarge the existing cutout. Use a vacuum cleaner so that
no drilling chips will fall into the helicopter structure.
4. Deburr the reworked edges.
5. Clean the surface around the enlarged cutout (6, Fig. 1) of the helicopter
structure (1).
6. Apply chemical conversion material (CM 316) on the reworked edges.
7. Let the chemical conversion material (CM 316) dry, refer to the manufacturer
instructions.
8. Apply primer (CM 436, CM 459, CM 472) on the surface around the enlarged
cutout (6, Fig. 1).
9. Let the primer (CM 436, CM 459, CM 472) dry, refer to the manufacturer
instructions.

10. Grind off the hatched area of the cabin frame (4, Fig. 1), refer to Figure 1 Detail D
for the dimensions.
11. Restore the surface protection of the cabin frame (4, Fig. 1) with
primer (CM 4125, CM 4126).
12. Let the primer (CM 4125, CM 4126) dry, refer to the manufacturer instructions.

3.B.4 Installation of the mechanism assemblies

NOTE In the following steps, the installation of the mechanism assy LH is


described. The installation of the mechanism assy RH is similar.

NOTE The proximity switch is part of the mechanism assemblies and no


additional adjustment is necessary.
1. Cut to size the edge protection (2, Fig. 2) to fit around the edge of the
enlarged cutout (4).
2. Use adhesive (CM 671) to install the edge protection (2, Fig. 2) on the helicopter
structure (1).
3. Remove the protective covers from the splices and electrical wires of the
proximity switch (9, Fig. 2).
4. Put and hold the mechanism assy LH (5, Fig. 2) in its installation position on the
cabin frame (3).
5. Route the cable (10, Fig. 2) with a loop through the edge protection (2).
6. Install the mechanism assy LH (5, Fig. 2) on the cabin frame (3) with the
countersunk screw (6).
7. Install the washers (7, Fig. 2) and the hexagonal head screws (8).
8. Torque the countersunk screw (6, Fig. 2) and the hexagonal head screws (8).
9. Connect the electrical wires to the splices (MTC 20-80-20-433) as marked during
the removal.

3.B.5 Tests

Do the functional test of the sliding door proximity switches (AMM 52-70-00, 5-1).

3.B.6 Final steps


1. Install the removed panels (AMM 25-20-00, 4-2).
2. Remove all tools and other materials and clean the work area.
