1 PLANNING INFORMATION
1.A EFFECTIVITY
1.A.1 Helicopters/installed equipment and parts
a) MBB‐BK117 D‐2, D‐2m, all S/N.

NOTE Only rod assemblies with more than 1200 Fh Time Since New (TSN)
are affected.
b) Rod assembly (*), LH P/N D633K1181‐101
P/N D633K1182‐101
Rod assembly (*), RH P/N D633K1181‐102
P/N D633K1182‐102
* Designation in the IPC is “Stay assy”. Designation in the AMM and this
ASB is “Rod assembly”.

1.A.2 Non‐installed equipment and parts

Not affected.
1.B ASSOCIATED REQUIREMENTS
None.
1.C REASON
During the replacement of a main gear box (MGB) on a MBB‐BK117 B‐2, one lug of a
rod assembly of the vertical mount was found broken. Investigations are ongoing.
After completion of the investigations a revision of this ASB will be released to
introduce the final inspection intervals and measures.
Since the design of the vertical mount of the MBB‐BK117 D‐2 is identical to the
MBB‐BK117 B‐2, this ASB prescribes a one‐time and a repetitive inspection of the rod
assemblies of the vertical mounts with more than 1200 Fh TSN.
