PROPRIETARY NOTICE

The information contained herein is proprietary to Aviation Partners Boeing

(APB) and shall not be reproduced or disclosed in whole or part, or used for any
design or manufacture, unless such user possesses direct, written authorization
from Aviation Partners Boeing.

1. PLANNING INFORMATION

A. EFFECTIVITY
This Service Bulletin is effective for all 737-300 and 737-500 aircraft listed on
APB drawings 737-3007 and 737-5007 (List of Eligible Aircraft) respectively and
modified per Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) ST01219SE, for the
installation of APB winglets. Prior to incorporation, aircraft added to 737-3007 or
737-5007 after this Service Bulletin’s release date are advised to verify coverage
in Table II.

B. CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS
None.

C. REASON
Operators have requested FMC (Flight Management Computer) re-pinning
authorization, on a post winglet modification basis, to allow the FMC to utilize
winglet performance data within the FMC software.

This Service Bulletin is written to provide instructions for re-pinning the FMC on
aircraft contained within 737-3007 and 737-5007 such that they would meet the
requirements of APB Drawings 737-3800 and 737-3809, the drawings used if the
FMC were re-pinned during initial installation of APB winglets.

version is installed.
• Revision of FMC wire configurations (re-pinning).
• Performing a functional test verification of the re-pinning procedure.

E. COMPLIANCE
Compliance with this Service Bulletin is optional.
F. APPROVAL
This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) and the repairs and modifications contained herein comply with the
applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and are FAA approved.
G. MANPOWER
Approximately 4 man-hours utilizing up to 1 Electrician is necessary to do this
change for each airplane. Approximately 4 elapsed hours are needed to perform
this Service Bulletin. Hours associated with repairs resulting from negative
findings are not included.

The table below shows an estimate for the man-hours necessary to accomplish
this Service Bulletin for each airplane. This estimate is for direct labor only, done
by an experienced crew. Adjust the estimate with operator man-hour data as
necessary. This estimate does not include lost time. These are some examples
of lost time:
- Time to adjust to the work place.
- Time to schedule the work.
- Time to examine the work.
- Time to cure the materials.
- Time to make the parts.

B. WORK INSTRUCTIONS

This Service Bulletin’s Work Instructions allow an aircraft to be re-pinned

for either a Winglet or Wing tip configuration.
• If Winglets are installed (APB -2 Kit) and re-pinning the FMC is
desired so the FMC can utilize winglet performance data within the
FMC software, then proceed to Work Instruction Step 1.
• If Winglets are being removed and the aircraft is reverting back to a
Wing tip configuration (APB -1 Kit), then proceed to Work
Instruction Step 2.

1. Verify / Install required FMC OPS Version

For 737-300 aircraft, verify Flight Management Computer Operational
Program Software (FMC OPS) version U10.6, or Version U10.8A or
subsequent versions, is resident within the Flight Management Computer
to take full advantage of the winglet installation. Reference 737-300
Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) section 34-62-00/201 or 34-62-
01/201.

For 737-500 aircraft, verify Flight Management Computer Operational

Program Software (FMC OPS) version U10.8A, or subsequent versions, is
resident within the Flight Management Computer to take full advantage of
the winglet installation. Reference 737-500 Aircraft Maintenance Manual
(AMM) section 34-62-00/201 or 34-62-01/201.

a. If the required version of FMC OPS is not resident within the FMC,
it must be installed.
i. Observe the FMC CDU located in the forward electronics
panel, P9.
ii. Make sure the IDENT page shows the correct OP Program
part number directly below the OP Program title.
iii. 737-300 If FMC OPS software version U10.6 or Version
U10.8A or subsequent version is not resident within the
FMC, load it now. Boeing Service Bulletins 737-34-1879
(ref.), 737-34-1950 (ref.), and 737-34-2122 (ref.) provide
FMC OPS software installation authority and effectivity for
those airplanes that do not currently have the winglet
compatible software specified in Table I.
iv. 737-500 If FMC OPS software version U10.8A or
subsequent version is not resident within the FMC, load it
now. Boeing Service Bulletin 737-34A2217 (ref.) provides
FMC OPS software installation authority and effectivity for
those airplanes that do not currently have the winglet
compatible software specified in Table I.

AVIATION PARTNERS BOEING SERVICE BULLETIN
AP737C-34-001 Revision 2
CAUTION
Loading FMC OPS software will erase all software that was previously loaded
into the FMC. Obey all of the warnings and cautions given in the specified
manual sections.
b. If an FMC OPS software version noted in Table I (or a subsequent
version) is already resident within the FMC, proceed to Work
Instruction Step 2.

2. FMC Program Pin Revision Procedure

a. Remove Flight Management Computer per AMM 34-62-21/401,

FMCS Computer Unit – Removal / Installation.

b. Revise the FMC Program Pin wires per the Configuration Diagram
identified in Table II.
CAUTION
Multiple wire configurations are provided in this Service Bulletin. Prior to re-
pinning any wires, ensure the applicable wire configuration is determined – see
Table II. Wire configurations are differentiated by the following parameters: (1)
Winglet or Wing tip installed, (2) Engine Thrust Rating being used, (3) Aircraft
Minor Model, and (4) the Boeing Wire Diagram Manual’s 34-61-02 or 34-61-11
sheet configuration code effective for the aircraft.

CAUTION
This Service Bulletin does not provide approved FAA authority for Engine Thrust
Rating revisions; please refer to applicable Boeing and CFMI Service Bulletins
for Engine Thrust Rating revisions.

c. Install Flight Management Computer per AMM 34-62-21/401, FMCS

Computer Unit – Removal / Installation.
