THRUST REVERSER OVERRIDE MULE ASSEMBLY (P5-30)

1. DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

A. Description

(1) The thrust reverser override module assembly consists of a printed

circuit assembly, connectors, switches, indicator light(s), and a
wire bundle mounted in a chassis assembly .

B. Operation

(1) The thrust reverser override module assembly provides switches to

close circuits in the override system, an indicator lamp to provide
low pressure warning, and a printed circuit assembly to pass the low
pressure warning to the master caution circuitry after a time delay.
Some models contain an additional indicator lamp used to show thrust
reverser armed .

C. Functional Description

(1) The indicator lamps receive +28 volts dc (pin P2-8) and require a
ground input for illumination . Connector pin P2-6 provides ground
for the lamp(s) such that the lamp(s) will illuminate when pressed
to test . Pin P2-7, when externally grounded, causes the lamp(s) to
illuminate . When pin P1-5 is grounded by the low .pressure detector,
L2 (DS2 on assemblies 69-37357-27 and -33) will illuminate . This
same input is passed to the printed circuit assembly . When pin P2-9
is externally grounded (69-37357-15 thru -18 only) L3 will illuminate .

(2) The printed circuit assembly is powered by voltage to Pl-8, and
grounded through P2-6 . The ground input to Pl-5 from the low
pressure detector grounds an external circuit through R1 and CR1
to enable master caution circuitry . After a delay of
approximately 12 seconds (4 seconds on 69-37357-15 thru -18), a
negative-going capacitor-discharge spike (P1-7 output) causes the
master caution silicon-controlled rectifier to be triggered and
the master caution lamp to be illuminated . (Refer to 31-36-54 for
printed circuit assembly functional description .) The time delay
is adjustable at potentiometer R6 .

2. REPAIR

A. If foam (14, figure 4) requires replacement, bond in place per

20-50-12, Application of Adhesives, type 44 .

B. If keying plug (33, figure 4) requires replacement, insert in position

9 of connector .

C. Screws in standoffs at four corners of baseplate are installed with

Loctite and may be difficult to remove. If replaced, coat threaded
areas with Loctite primer Grade T, and nutlock compound 74 (Loctite
Corporation, 705 North Mountain Road, Newington, Connecticut 06111) per
manufacturer's instructions .

D. When installing Korry indicator lamps, part number 319-619-1001-( )

(Boeing 10-61305), use torque value of 15 (+ 3) ounce-inches .

E. When installing Korry indicator lamps, part number 318-630-1001-( )

(Boeing 10-61803), use torque value of 64 (+ 3) ounce-inches .

3. TESTING

A. Test Equipment

(1) Power Supply : 18 volts do (+ 1) volt, 1 amp

(2) Multimeter: Simpson 260P or equivalent

(3) SPST Switches : (5 required)

(4) Lamps: 400 ma or less (2 required) (one 303 lamp, or two 1873
lamps in parallel, or equivalent

(5) Connectors : BACC45FT14C15S6 (P1)

BACC45FT14C15S (P2)

(6) Oscilloscope : Tektronix 475, or equivalent

(7) Resistor : 3K, 5%, 1/2 watt

B. Functional Test

(1) Connect module assembly to test setup as shown in figure 1 . Set switches S1 through S5
to OFF and override switches in front of module to NORMAL.

(2) Continuity shall exist between center conductor of lightplate power connector_and P1-2,
and between outer conductor and PI-1 .

(3) Set SI to ON.

(a) Verify voltage at pin P1-5 is 5.0-8 .0 volts (2.0-4.0 volts or -15 through -18, -22, -23,
-24,-26,-27)

(b) Close S5 and S6.

(4) Press to test LOW PRESSURE light (69-37357-15 thru -18) or ISOLATION VALVE light
(all except 69-37357-15 thru -18, Robinet D'Isolement on 27, -33) on front of module. It
shall illuminate.

(5) Pull back guard on engine 1 override switch and move switch to OVERRIDE . L4 shall
illuminate . Close guard and L4 shall extinguish.

(6) Pull back guard on engine 2 override switch and move switch to OVERRIDE . L5 shall
illuminate . Close guard and L5 shall extinguish.

(7) Set test switch S2 to ON.

(a) (69-37357-15 thru -18) LOW PRESSURE light shall illuminate . Oscilloscope shall
show a negative pulse 4 (+ 1) seconds after trace begins . Pulse-peak shall be greater
than 10 volts and resemble figure 2.

(b) (All except 69-37357-15 thru -18) ISOLATION VALVE light shall illuminate.
Oscilloscope shall show a negative pulse 12 (± 1) seconds after trace begins . Pulse
peak shall be greater than 10 volts and resemble figure 2.

(8) Ammeter shall read 13 L 1) ma.

(9) Set S2 to OFF and LOW PRESSURE light (69-37357-15 thru -18) or ISOLATION VALVE
light (all except 69 -37357-15 thru -18) shall extinguish.

light shall illuminate .

(b) (All except 69-37357-15 thru -18) ISOLATION VALVE light

(c) Set 33 to OFF . (69-37357-15 thru -18) LOW PRESSURE and

REVERSER ARMED lights or (all except 69-37357-15 thru -18)
ISOLATION valve light shall extinguish .

(11) (69-37357-15 thru -18 only)

(a) Press to test REVERSER ARMED light on front of module .

Light shall illuminate .

(b) Set S4 to 0N . REVERSER ARMED light shall illuminate .

(12) Set all switches to OFF and disconnect test setup .

4. TROUBLE SHOOTING

A. Check for defective wiring or connections before replacing components .

B. If test step 3 .B .(7) fails (time delay), replace printed circuit

assembly Al .

C. Component tested is listed in all other test steps .
