II. RATIONALE

Clutter has a way of sneaking up on people. It somehow quickly seems to pile up around
and even though people tried their best to stay tidy, just one thing here, one more thing over
there, and it all adds up eventually – (Green Drop, 2020).

On the other hand, decluttering is ridding something in so many ways. Letting go of the

excess “stuff” that fills home often feels like a weight is being lifted from one’s life. Sometimes
people don’t even realize how heavy and burdened the stuff that makes them feel until they start
letting it go! Once they started letting go, they feel relieved…lighter, and happier hence, begin
experiencing the benefits of less (Spratt, 2021).

The actual process of decluttering is an empowering one when someone considers it. It
makes a visible impact on something that brings stress and reduces it in the process. The practice
creates a sense of control over one’s own life, something that can often feel too big to keep in
check. A home should be a place to rest and relax—decluttering helps in getting there much
quicker. Decluttering can also be useful not just to a few individuals but to other people as well.
In addition, homeowners find many reusable things that may be donated for a good cause as
well.

From home goods to those all-important clothes donations, decluttering stuff can go a

long way in helping those who are in need. Aside from these, decluttering is a way to promote
self-care in the sense that it can make someone feel at peace, calm, and able to comfort another
person.
Hence, putting into practice the learnings in the subject Advance Housing and Home
Management is somewhat necessary to uplift one’s self. The willingness to help other people is
within the heart of every student who will make a difference to others. It came to the realization
that this activity should be done to which both the proponents and the beneficiary would be
benefited.

These are the consideration of the proponents to come up with the project SMART
Decluttering. It is a two-way process wherein self-management and reorganizing techniques will
be addressed by the proponents and at the same time, the less fortunate people will be benefited
from the clutters of the donors.
