Main valve adjustment procedure of Mark VI

1. Introduction
This manual describes the standard procedure for the main valve adjustment of Mark VI, which is carried out at site.
You should understand the system beforehand because the main valve adjustment procedure in the fuel system and the
oil pressure system is different in each unit.
Therefore, the main valve adjustment should be carried out after discussing with engineers how to adjust the main
valve.

2. Description of main valve adjustment

The main valve adjustment is to adjust so that Mark VI input of LVDT (differential transformer) become 0% or 100%
when the actual valve travel is 0% or 100%, and to check that both values of valve travel detector and main valve
stroke are within the planned value.
In addition, each coil is checked for its polarity since 3-coil servo valve is used.

3. Before starting main valve adjustment (Condition)

1) Check that the unit shut down.

2) Check that the fuel line is purged through and the fuel supply valve fully opens.

3) For the unit without auxiliary control oil pump, arrange temporary pipes that supply hydraulic pressure from ratchet.

4) Check that the main valve has servo valve and LVDT, and is able to open/close.

5) Check that Mark VI and the main valve is completely connected with cable.

6) Check that the dial gauge for the main valve measurement is arranged.

4. Before starting main valve adjustment (Arrangement)

1) Check that zero adjustment on LVDT is completed.

2) Execute Logic Forcing for the following signals:

1-1) L4_XTP = 0 (Set "Cross trip" signal, which is in the module card point of VRPO card, to "0" by force.)

1-2) L20FGX = 1 (Energize the hydraulic solenoid valve, which supplies or stops the fuel gas, and establish the
control hydraulic pressure.)
* Check the I/O list beforehand because the signal may have a different name.

1-3) L20FLX = 1 (Energize the hydraulic solenoid valve, which supplies or stops the fuel gas, and establish the
control hydraulic pressure.)
* Check the I/O list before hand because the signal may have a different name.

1-4) L20TVX = 1 (Energize the hydraulic solenoid valve, which controls IGV, and establish the control
hydraulic pressure.)
* Check the I/O list beforehand because the signal may have a different name.

3) Push Master Reset PB on HMI screen.

4) Check that the emergency stop PB is off.

5) Manually start the auxiliary oil pump (AOP).

Note: AOP must start prior to starting the auxiliary control oil pump.

6) Manually start the auxiliary control oil pump (HAOP).

If there is not this pump, establish oil pressure during crank operation or with the ratchet pump.

5. Creating the main valve adjustment mode condition before use

1) Execute Logic Forcing for the following signals.

Calibration Enable L3ADJ #(1,2,3,4 …) = 1 (Signal in the module card point of VSVO card)
* Calibration mode is able to use when this signal turns on.

2) Select the relevant VSVO module and select "Card Point".

3) Select "True" according to the following procedure.

6. Setting value check

1) Select the relevant “Regulator” then select “Modify”.

* “Previlage” in option menu should be set to level 2 or upper level, if you select “Modify”.

2) Check settings when the following screen appears.

MAX,MIN(Vrms) of LVDT is automatically set in the next calibration, but Min.MaxPOSvalue should be set to 0% or
100%.
If there is gap between valve and valve rod, the stroke of valve rod may exceed the valve-stroke. Therefore,
calibration should be carried out after inputting the valve rod stroke in percent figures. Calibration will be carried out
so that the valve stroke will become 0.100% automatically.
Check Dither function in “Unused”, because it is usually unused.

4) You can check servo current and valve travel when the following screen appears.

5) Normally, 40ms mode is used for Trend sampling at the valve adjustment.

The procedure is as follows:

The above screen appears when clicking the button with spanner mark after clicking the button (with red mark in
the bottom left corner) in order to stop the Trend.
The Trend sampling settings will be changed when selecting 40ms and clicking “OK” on this screen.
Trend recording will be started when clicking the button with red mark once more.

8. Servo coil polarity check

1) Select “Manual”. (You are able to input any valve travel as the calibration mode changes to manual if selecting
“Manual”.)

2) Input the valve travel command of 50% on the following screen. (The valve is controlled so that its travel will
become 50 %.)

3) Remove cables for servo signal sent from S core and T core, in order to check the servo coil polarity.
(Check that the valve travel is slightly down, but is controlled at around 50 %.)
Check the servo coil polarity on S core and T core in the same manner as above. In these steps, all servo coil
polarities are checked.

3) Check an overshoot by changing the manual command from 0% to 50%.

The initial setting of servo gain is almost 5.0, but it should be adjusted to the value, up to 10.0, which the valve is
hardly hunting.
The gain is small or large; nevertheless, the valve is hunting or has bad response. In this case, contact the design
group as it may be considered error.
It is required to download the setting after gain adjustment to VSVO card.

4) Measure the actual valve travel, valve stroke, servo current, etc at the following command value in accordance with
data sheet.
Measured at: -10, 0, 25, 50, 100, 110%
