Wheel Alignment Tools and Equipment

Jack stands

The purpose of the jack is to raise the vehicle, but the jack stand holds the vehicle in place. Be
sure to place it in a safe spot that you know can support the weight of the vehicle, without it
slipping off the jack stand.

Camber gauge

Camber is used to distribute load across the entire thread. Improper camber can make the tire
wear on one edge and may cause the vehicle to pull to the side that has the most positive
camber.
24mm wrench or adjustable wrench

An adjustable spanner or adjustable wrench is an open-end wrench with a movable jaw,

allowing it to be used with different sizes of fastener head (nut, bolt, etc.) rather than just one
fastener size, as with a conventional fixed spanner.

Control arm shims

Shim alignment corrects the vertical position of a movable machine so it will be in

alignment with the stationary or reference machine. Whenever there is a gap in
materials, a shim can be used to close that gap and make the materials flush or level.
Wheel Balancer

A balancer is a piece of shop equipment that helps a technician ensure the tire/wheel
assembly's weight is even and balanced, so it rotates smoothly once mounted onto
the vehicle. Once balance is checked and any points of imbalance established, the
technician then can add wheel weights to correct any issues.

Tie- rod separator

Heavy duty tool for separating tie rods. This tool is used to replace worn out tie rods.
Also can be used to separate shock absorber links.
Swivel ratchet

Swivel-head ratchets can be used at intermediate angles, allowing them to reach

fasteners in tight spaces or over obstructions. ... In this type of use, swivel-head
ratchets can be faster than traditional ratchets, at least without having to reach for more
tools or spin sockets and bit sockets by hand.

Pinch bar

The pinch point crow bar is a 66-inch long straight heat-treated steel for maximum
strength. This long hand tool has a round tapered handle and is utilized to pry and lever
heavy objects.
Grease cap tool

Grease caps are the small, round, metal covers you see at the very center of a wheel.
Grease caps protect your wheel bearings from the dirt, dust, sand, water, salt and
road grime that can (and will) destroy bearings.

Grease cap tool remover

Prevents damage to the cap when incorrect tools such as hammers and
screwdrivers are used.
