    Exercise Problem

    The figure below, shows the plan of a quarter turn staircase, with particulars as under.
    Masonry walls are 300mm thick and are shown by hatched lines
    Rise = 150mm
    Tread=300mm
    Live load = 3 kN/m2
    Finish = 1 kN/m2
    Adopt M20 concrete and Fe415 steel. All dimensions marked in the figure are clear distances.
    Note: Spans partly cross at right angles at landing A.
    a) Design a typical intermediate flight.
    b) Draw to a suitable scale the longitudinal section showing reinforcement details.
