Title : The green LED on the document feeder does not light when the paper is inserted
into the feeder.

Problem :
The green LED on the document feeder does not light when the paper is inserted into the
feeder.

Solution :
The problem has been found to be a broken sensor actuator arm that is molded into the
lower document tray.

To check if the actuator arm is broken off or bent, lift the document tray all the way so the
tray assembly is in a vertical position. Next look under the edge of the tray for the flag.
The lower tray should look like the image above. The sensor actuator is visible in the red
circle in the image shown. The part number for the lower document tray is FL2-9622-000.
The part number for document tray assembly is FM3-6210-000.

To check if the sensor, PS 9 Tray, open close sensor, is working go into Service Mode >

Mode List > Copier > I/O. Now select the tab in row P-Sensor and column Feeder 1. It
would be the upper furthest most right box in the image below.

Now a new screen appears. In this screen select feeder.

In the feeder screen the bit is P001 bit 5. There are 8 bits in the row but they are
numbered 7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0.
Bit Zero is the bit furthest to the right. In the image below the bit that corresponds to PS 9
Tray, open close sensor, has the red arrow pointing to it.

Now to block the sensor lift the tray all the way up and insert a folded up small piece of
paper or a small flat blade screw driver into the opening shown below with the red arrow
pointing to it.

It is awkward to find the small hole and block the sensor while holding up the tray and
watching the screen all at the same time. When the sensor is blocked the P001 bit 5
will = 1 and unblocked will = 0. The green light on the top of the DADF will also light if the
sensor is blocked. The part number to PS 9 is WG8-5783-000.
