CHAPTER – I

HISTORY OF INDUSTRY

INTRODUCTION:-

Textiles also refers to the yarns, threads and wools that can be spun, woven, tufted, tied
and otherwise used to manufacture cloth. The production of textiles is an ancient art,
whose speed and scale of production has been altered almost beyond recognition by mass
– production and the introduction of modern manufacturing techniques.

TEXTILES AS A GROWING INDUSTRY:-

Textiles and woven fabrics are used worldwide in a wide variety of application such as
the apparel industry, and household textiles, and furnishing medical items, industrial uses
technical product. The global textile market stands high, with in fabric weaving
consumption reaching about 28 million tons of fiber every year.

RECENT TRENDS OF THE INDUSTRY:-

The share of spinning capacity of south India mills include small scale units in all India
capacity is estimated to be around 50 percent. While the power loom sector had
consumed around 24 percent was exported.

BUDGET ALLOCATION FOR TEXTILE INDUSTRY:-

The ministry received RS 4594.82 crores for the upcoming financial year to support its
various schemes covering the entire textiles industry in 2015 -2016, the budget allocation
for the ministry was RS 4326.44 crores. The flagship ATUF scheme has been allocated
RS 1480 crores for 2016 – 2017 compared RS 1510.79 crores in the 2015 – 2016

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY IN TEXTILE INDUSTRY:-

They account for the targets sector of textile production in India. This sector has a
share of 58% of the India total production and provides employment to about 4.8 million
people.

COMPANY PROFILE

(STRT) incorporated in Dec 1998 at Namakkal (tamilnadu), is engaged in the


business of manufacturing cotton yarns and grey fabric STRT has two spinning units
situated at thuraiyur Road, Namakkal. Presently the company has 1,368 spindles in Unit I
and 2,332 spindles in Unit II . The plant is operating at 100% capacity. The manufacturing
plant has a total installed capacity of 99 looms. Till 2015 – 16, the company has been
manufacturing cotton yarn only at these units. During 2016 – 17 they also started
manufacturing viscose yarn, modal yarn, micro modal yarn, Tencel yarn and blended yarn.
In additions, the company has own in-house product development & design team which
works on the latest trends and seasons.

To company belong to the namakkal based STRT group and Mr. R.NALLATHAMPI
is the present managing director of SRI THIRUMALAI RAAJAN TEXTILE. The group
consists of six operating companies, all engaged in textiles.SRI THIRUMALAI RAAJAN
TEXTILE group has ring spinning capacity of 1,00,000 spindles and table cloth rotors for
open – end spinning. The group produces more than 5 tons of optimal quality yarn per day,
with counts ranging from Ne6’s, 10’s, 16’s, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 60’s. all the group companies
are ISO 9001 certified.

The SRI THIRUMALAI RAAJAN TEXTILE ltd., was established in 1998 to manufacture
cotton yarn. The significant features of this units is,almost the entire production is being
exported.SRI THIRUMALAI RAAJAN TEXTILE ltd., This company reputation is based on

A production department is a group of functions within a business that is
responsible for the manufacture of goods. The production department can be the largest
organization within a business. It may employee mechanics, machine setup specialists,
maintenance personnel, and machine operator.
Textile manufacturing or production is a very complex process. The range of textile
manufacturing is so long. It starts from fiber to finished products.

Spinning :-
As a reversed, the ring spinning unit is accompanied with open spinning Rotors
and it utilizes the self generated raw materials. With the rich Mixing, our rotors produce
unmatched open end yarn yielding better efficiency in the downstream processes.
Weaving :-
In our weaving division, quality as the principal focus that is effortlessly
incorporated at every stage of manufacturing process, as quality check and control
commences right from procuring yarn.
STRT weaving division equipped with Toyota JAT 710 & 810 looms. With auto shed
levelling, auto pick finding, TAPO and mark prevention systems which ensure the fabric
quality. We are pleased to inform that our production capacity approximately 10 Million
Meters per annum.
DYCING, PRINTING AND FINISHING:-
All textiles are prepared by help of fibers which are arranged in multiple ways
consisting design, strength, durability and texture. Dyeing and printing is the second last
stage of textile manufacturing process conducted in dyeing mills. Let’s have a look over
the above three levels of textiles manufacturing process.
MANUFACTURING OF PRODUCT:-
After the initial process of melting glass and passing it through spinning
continuous filaments or staple fibers of glass are manufactured by two different methods.
Continuous filament process
In this process, continuous filaments of indefinite length is produced. The molten
glass passes through spinnerets having hundreds of small openings. After winding,
filaments are further twisted and plied to make yarns by methods similar to those for
making other continuous filaments yarns
Cost control measures taken by the department
Cost control is one of the best ways to keep our industry in shape so it continues to
perform well in a variety of economic environments. These four suggestions for reducing
overhead expenses can provide a good framework.

DETAILS OF RAW MATERIAL:-


Today, the availability of cotton and synthetic staple fibers is not a problem. In
2013-14 season, for the third time in a row, the main production countries supplied more
raw material that what was processed by spinning mills. As an agricultural product fibers
are not subject to the rules of the world trade organization, there are regional differences
in fiber price

PURCHASING PATTERN:-
Few way of purchasing pattern convey of the firm seasonal and non- seasonal
pattern of purchase mostly the firm purchase credit purchase.

CAPACITY OF PLANT:-
The plant and machines required for the spinning mill process for
manufacturing yarn of different counts are blow room machinery, metal detection system,
spark diversion system, carding machines, card accessories, draw frame, speed frame,
combers, ring frame, electrical infrastructure, yarn testing 4 instruments, humidification and
waste collection system and automatic cone winding machines etc.
Unit – I with an installed capacity of 30,000 spindles which produces around 25 tons of
cotton yarn per day
Unit – II with an installed capacity of 1,14,000 spindles which produces around 65 tons
compact yarn for spinning
LOCATION OF THE STORE:-
The choice of location for setting up a spinning mill depends on a decisive
factors. An entrepreneur must reckon with different costs for energy depending on the
location. Wages and their growth influence the decision about where an investment is
successful.

Store and warehouse are located in the firm. Then the warehouse unit product is
excessive then the firm transferred warehouse located in salem.

NON-MONETARY BENEFITS

The firm provides promotion facility for employees and it is based their talent and
experience of the person.

The company provides canteen facilities for both men and women workers. Canteen
works on the basis of shifts. Price of the foods is really very low to buy all type of the
employees.

The company provides Restroom facilities separately both for men and women
workers.

BASIC SALARY

Basic salary is used to calculate other constitute of the salary. Several
