 What is the different between menu and ribbon?


Menu: Is dropdown list of application, it disappear when you apply your application, like File menu.
Ribbon: Is view to number of possible selections, and will not disappear when you select your application,
such as Home, insert, page layout, …. Ribbons.
 The “File menu” is the only remaining dropdown menu among the primary menus in Microsoft Word.
 What is the different between “Save” and “Save as” in File menu?
Save use it when you have update information on a document and you want to save it with same name and
location. Save as use it when you want to save the update document in different name and location.
 Home ribbon use it to do changes on Text only, such as font size, font themes, font color, ….
 Insert ribbon use it to insert Non-Text only, such as table, picture, equation, page number, ….
 Page layout ribbon use it to change page format only, like Margins, orientation, water mark, page
borders,….
 References ribbon allows you to easily cite and reference sources that you may use while creating a
document.
 Mailings ribbon menu contains a number of features related to documents that will be created for the
purpose of being sent in the mail.
 Review ribbon allows you to review your document for spelling and grammatical errors, insert
comments,…
 View ribbon allows you to change how the document is viewed within Word such as document view,
show, zoom, ….
 If you want to do any changes on any text or non-text document, you must select and highlight the
document first before you do the change.
 Important keyboard shortcuts:
Open document “CTRL + O” Copy “CTRL + C” Paste “CTRL + V” Cut “CTRL + X”
Save option use “CTRL + S” Bold “CTRL + B” Italic “CTRL + I” Underline “CTRL + U”

 What is network? A network is two or more computers linked together, it share data files,
software applications and hardware like printer and other computer resources such as fax.
 Talk about Data flow types with elaboration.
o Simplex: Is one channel, way like radio broadcast.
o Half-duplex: Is two channels, each channel one way of communication like: walky-talky.
o Full-duplex: Is one channel, two-way of communication like cellular system, telephone.
 Why do we need Networking? To Sharing information, Sharing hardware or software, Centralize
administration and support.
 How many ways can classify the network? We can classify the network to 4 ways based on:
network size, management method, topology (connectivity), and based on transmission media.
 What are network topologies? Ring, bus, star and mesh network.
 Ring network: If a cable breaks or one computer fails, whole network will fail.
 Bus network: If main cable fails, whole network will fail.
 Star network: If center server fails, whole network will fail.
 Mesh network: If a cable breaks or one computer fails, it won’t affect the other computers.
