Learning 3.3 The student will explain how the contributions of ancient Greece and Rome have
Objective influenced the present world in terms of architecture, government (direct and
representative democracy), and sports.

In this activity, my students are going to use Bubbl.us to create a map an ancient country and how
it has influenced the modern world.
Pedagogy Planning

Activity. 1. Have the students pick from a hat/container at random.

2. If they pick the piece of paper that reads “ancient Greece,” assign them
ancient Greece. If they pick the piece of paper that reads “ancient Rome,”
assign them ancient Rome.
3. Have them do research on ancient Greek or Roman architecture,
government, and sports.
4. Have them do research on which of these architectures, government(s), and
sports we still use to today and take notes.
5. Give them a little tutorial of mind maps then have them pull it up on their

6. Give them directions on how to create their legible and organized mind map
(in the center bubble, insert an image of the ancient country’s flag; click
“Add,” and then in the separate branches type in the words architecture,
government, and sport; from those branches, add more individual branches
with a architecture, government, and sport that is still used today.
7. Have them save the mind map to their electronic device and send it to your
email.
8. Go through the names of the students in alphabetical order and have them
present their mind map to the class with the mind map projecting onto the
smartboard or screen.

Technolog the mind map, the student will write the name of the ancient country mentioned in the
y SOL and then insert an image of how it has influenced the modern world within its
branches.
