Pedagogy Planning
Activity
The lesson will begin with money coins being handed out
to all the students. The students will be asked just to look
at them and to be able to differentiate all the different
coins. Then the teacher will go around the classroom to
each group of desks and ask the groups questions about
money. The teacher will ask
- By guessing, what coin is worth the most money?
- By guessing, Which coin is worth the least?
- By guessing, what is different about each coin?
- By guessing, Where and why do we use these
coins?
Then the class will come back as a group and the teacher
will introduce her PowerPoint lesson by asking the
students to share their answers to the class and discuss.
After the PowerPoint, the students will get up and watch
a YouTube video on money and do the “money dance”
embedded in the PowerPoint.
Moving into the lesson we will do the interactive white
board activity from Smart exchange called “Money” made
by aps.
Starting this activity, the students will take turns coming
to the board and sorting money and telling the class the
value that is on the board. The teacher will do 1-2
examples before the students start
For slides 6-7 the students will go back to their seats and
do the piggy bank activity at their desk by putting the
money into their fake piggy banks on their desk
individually. The teacher will come around and double
check students as they do this to make sure they are
correct.
The students will come back as a whole and finish the
smart exchange activity then they will go back their seats
to complete a classwork worksheet. This worksheet will
help them practice the value of money and to go further
into the subject.
If there is extra time, students will play with the money
coins and try to purchase items from other students.
