March 16,1521 Magellan

March 18,1521 Magellan's group were greeted by nine men


who were pleased to see them and offered
them food, beverages and gifts.

March 25,1521 In Mazzawa/Mazaua, they observed two


ballanghai (balangay). Magellan and his troops
met the king.
March 31,1521 Magellan had the chaplain preside over a Mass
on the shore and the first Mass held in the
Philippines.

April 7,1521 Magellan and his troops made decision to


relocate and search for islands where they
could obtain additional supplies and rations.
They planned to visit Ceylon (Leyte), Bohol,
and Zzubu (Cebu) after learning about them.

April 8,1521 Magellan's troops and the monarch of Cebu,


together with other important individuals from
Cebu gathered in an open area.
April 14,1521 The king of Cebu was baptized as a Christian.

April 22,1521 They burned a village down for obeying neither


the king nor Magellan.

April 26,1521 A chief named Zula from the island of Matan


(Mactan) approached Magellan and requested
a boat full of warriors so that he could fight the
chief Silapulapu (Lapulapu). Instead, Magellan
offered three boats and declared his
willingness to travel to Mactan and battle the
chief himself.
April 27,1521 The Mactan fight took place and Magellan was
killed by a poisoned arrow shot.
