T
he nation is celebrating Pakistan’s
Independence Day on 14 August
and will hand over the reins of
power to the newly elected leader-
ship. Imran Khan has successfully handled his
campaign and has been blessed with a histor-
ic win. He has proved his public acceptability
and deserves to administer the country. While
he has achieved his target after decades of in-
cessant pursuance he should also be mindful
that 2023 is round the corner when his per-
formance will be measured by the very public
who have catapulted him to the highest seat
of power. He should also be mindful about the
fate of previous political leaderships that di-
gressed from their purpose.
It is a well-known fact that Pakistani po-
litical leadership loses its focus once it gains
power and its conduct goes against the prom-
ises made to the electorate. The loss of credi-
bility is therefore inherent in the very nature
of the dichotomy between word and action
perpetrated by successive political leader-
ships and unfortunately they never learnt
from their mistakes.
The new leadership should never be
afraid of the consequences of its actions if
they are based on truth and social justice. It
should bear in mind that all hell will break
loose once it takes the path of fairplay but it
should also bear in mind that the sincerity of
purpose always succeeds in finally ending in
triumph. The truthful path is never easy but is
extremely fulfilling.
Imran Khan has nothing to lose by being
sincere but everything to gain. He has come to
fore on the crossroads of the national life and
is the focus of lots of expectations. If he man-
ages to fulfill them even partially his place
will be secure in the annals of Pakistani his-
tory. He has proven that he is made of sturdy
stuff and does have the temperament to with-
stand pressure.
The fact that Pakistanis love their country
is enough for its sustenance and prosperity.

who are always alert and agile to defend its
national interest. It is mostly due to their con-
tinuous vigil that Pakistan has steadily over-

meritorious policies and they have shown the
way to rest of the nation. They would surely
expect that the new political leadership will
follow the rule of law and would not let the
mistakes of the past repeated once again.
Pakistan needs an equitable system that pro-
vides equal opportunity to all its citizens irre-
spective of cast and creed.
Pakistan is full of opportunities and its
people are its ultimate treasure. Pakistan is
fortunate to be a country full of young people
who are prepared to do everything for their
country. It is however important to be vigi-
lant about the designs of our enemies who
frequently open new fronts to harm Pakistan.
It has happened after a long time that a
true federal political party has emerged on
Pakistani horizon that has been successful
in all federating units. It augurs well for the
country that people came forward to vote for
the future governance. The continuity of dem-
ocratic governance is healthy provided the
elected representatives stay the course they
propagate during the election campaign.
Political leadership has to face a host of
challenges and it will need tremendous cour-
age and singularity of purpose to overcome
them. Security forces have done their bit by
ensuring the writ of law and the country has
been rid of extremist elements that are now
running for cover. It actually is the best time
to build on the successes of the security forc-
es and bring about a real and palpable change.
It is expected that the new political lead-
ership will practice what it preaches. It is also
expected that it will stay away from short-
term policies and would devise a long term
strategy for taking the country forward. It is
easier said than done but the people of Paki-
stan deserve much better than they have been
given so far. Pakistani people have every right
to be given the opportunity to progress and
live prosperous and safe lives.
This is the time to stay aware about con-
spiracies hatched against the country and the
security forces are required to be strength-
ened in all their pursuits. It is ardently
wished that a profound state of harmony will
henceforth prevail between all segments of
the state. The appropriate balance between
various state institutions is required to be
maintained so that the overall stability of the
country is ensured.
It is the hope of every Pakistani that the

new leadership will embark upon pragmatic
policies and will devise plans for the uplift of
people. Pakistani nation expects that the po-
litical forces will work in tandem with the se-
curity forces for the betterment of the coun-
try.
