DOMESTIC WATER PIPING

2.03 EQUIPMENT
A. Water heaters shall be in accordance with SECTION 22 33 30 and shall meet applicable
requirements of SASO 11 and ASME Section IV
B. Boilers must be constructed in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,
Section IV, Rules for Construction of Heating Boilers (low-pressure boilers), or Section I,
Rules for Construction of Power Boilers (high-pressure boilers).
C. Tanks shall be in accordance with SECTION 33 16 23, Saudi Building Code 501 & 701
2.04 COATING FOR UNDERGROUND PIPE
A. Coating for underground pipe shall be 2-component, amine cured, and coal tar epoxy, with
PVC wrap

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 GENERAL
A. In addition to the work of this Part of the specification, see SECTION 22 05 00.
3.02 INSPECTION
A. The Contractor shall inspect all products for damage immediately before installation. Any
products that are damaged or not in accordance with the specifications shall immediately be
repaired or removed from the site and replaced
3.03 INSTALLATION
A. General
1. All pipe work and valves shall be installed in strict accordance with the manufacturer's
recommendations and in accordance with pars. 1.04 and 1.05
2. All pipe work and valves shall be installed as shown on the Contract Drawings and on the
approved Shop Drawings
3. Section service shut-off valves shall be provided for each grouping of 3 or more fixtures
in any plumbing installation
4. Dielectric unions or flanges shall be installed at all interfaces between copper or bronze
piping components and ferrous fittings, nipples, or equipment, or other dissimilar metals
5. Gate valves shall be installed on each side of each backflow preventer and each water
meter
6. Check valves shall be installed on discharge side of each in-line booster pump
7. Galvanized flanges shall be installed as required to make equipment and valve
connections
8. Water Hammer Arrestors
a. Install in water supply lines to plumbing fixtures as required by PDI WH 201
b. Install in upright position, in locations and of size in accordance with Standard
PDI WH-201, and elsewhere as required
9. Pressure type vacuum breakers shall be installed on all perineal sprays
10. Underground Piping
a. No underground or under slab water piping within building shall be permitted unless
specifically approved by the Royal Commission
