BEFORE DRAINING THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTION SHOULD BE

TAKEN
 Unauthorized entry is prohibited.
 No one should have mobile in plant area & storage area.
 There should be no inflammable material in the area.

DE PRESSURISATION:

After maximum possible use of hydrogen from the tank the tank will be isolated
at pressure about 0.5 Mpa. For isolation, ensure following valves to be in closed
condition.
 Tank inlet valve
 Tank outlet valve
 Tank safety isolation valve

The following steps to be taken for venting & draining in presence of the
departments TMD, Fire Fighting and Safety.

 Open the atmosphere vent at tank pressure 0.5mpa.

 After reaching pressure 0.1mpa start the draining procedure.
 Drain line pipe immersed in water bucket.
 Firefighting person ready for spray water in the bucket.
 Drain line 1st manual valve fully open.
 Drain line 2nd manual valve to be kept crack open.
 As the bubbles seen in the bucket H2 should be detect by Detector.

The draining procedure continue till the pressure come to 0.0 Mpa in local
pressure gauge.

 After getting pressure 0.05Mpa in local pressure gauge on the tank, Close the isolation
valve of safety valve. Connect the N2 cylinder in SV port.
 Fill the nitrogen in tank through safety valve port by operating its isolation valve so as
to maintain 0.05 to 0.03Mpa (Entire process) and start purging out H2.
 Sample (H2 & N2 gas mixture) to be checked with H2 detector.
 Ensure H2 is completely emptied then depressurize the tank completely.

WATER FILLING & HYDROTEST:

 DM water to be filled in the tank through the drain line and vent line is opened & the
tank should be completely filled with DM water.
 Connect the hydro pump through SRV port.
 Raise the pressure up to Hydrostatic Test Pressure (42.9 Kg/Cm2).
 Observe for half an hour (30 Min) for any pressure drop from the tank.
 If any noticeable leakage is not found or no drop of pressure is observed then hydro
test of the tank is successfully completed.

WATER DRAIN OUT:

 Water to be drained out completely after completion of hydro-test through the tanks
drain & all dummies to be removed from the tank.
 All the fittings (except safety valve) to be connected with the tank.

NITROGEN PURGING & HYDROGEN FILLING:

 Fill the nitrogen in tank through safety valve port.

 Raise the pressure upto 6-7 kg/cm2.
 Connect the safety valve at the port of the tank.

 Check any leakage at all flanges by using soap water solution.

 Drain out nitrogen from the drain line of the tank and fill gradually hydrogen in the
tank.
 Check the purity of hydrogen upto 99.5%.
