Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs made a very positive impact on society during his life and onwards. During
Steve Jobs’ time at Apple, he and his company created many devices. The devices that they first
created have been improved over time, and we still use those devices today. Also, Steve Jobs
worked for Pixar, and made a device that created several movies. Through Jobs’ creations,
people had an easier time getting tasks and jobs done. Steve Jobs had a positive impact on
Steve Jobs’ technology had a positive impact on society and the world. When Steve Jobs
created the iMac, he “redefined the usage of the personal computer for the average consumer.
Jobs revolutionized the way people work, communicate, and create through the use of Mac
personal computers” (Kaluf). Through the use of Jobs’ iMac, consumers could do their jobs and
communicate or talk to anyone around the world. Steve Jobs also created “the iPod” which was a
“portable music player” which was a “better way for users to access, curate, and share music. It
meant changing how users interact with their music and what it means to them” (Gobble 64).
Steve Jobs’ new iPod changed how society could listen to music, the iPod made it so anyone
could listen to music at any time. Users could also share songs and playlist to other users, this
was much quicker and easier than naming all of the songs that are on a certain playlist. While
working for Pixar, Jobs and Pixar partnered up with “Disney to create the computer animation
production system (CAPS), which eliminated the need for hand-drawn "cels" and freed up

capabilities for advanced effects” (Ott). During his time with Pixar, Steve Jobs and his comrades
created the computer animation production system. This piece of technology made it easier for
artists to create animated movies and let the user have access to more advanced effects. All of the
technology that Jobs created made it easier for society to do their jobs.
Steve Jobs’ technology made society's jobs easier and faster to do. While working for
Apple, Steve Jobs introduced “the Apple Macintosh, or Mac, complete with mouse, brought easy
graphic imaging to the masses. In doing so, it slashed the time taken for chemists and molecular
biologists, among others, to represent their work and deliver their papers” (“An Eye for” 156).
When Steve Jobs introduced the iMac, it made it easier for chemists and molecular biologists to
graph and record their data that they recorded during their labs and experiments. Before the iMac
was introduced, “it was not unusual for a university scientist to spend an entire week transferring
all the letters and symbols onto the pages of a research paper, which journal publishers were
demanding in ‘camera-ready’ form” (“An Eye for” 156). Before the iMac was introduced to the
world, students and scientists would have to hand write all their data and observations. But when
the iMac came out, the students and scientists could transfer their data more easily and quicker
than before. One important detail to Apple was its “product design, they relentlessly focused on
the user experience—on how, in Clayton Christensen’s terms, to make it as easy as possible for
the user to do the job he or she needs done” (Gobble 64). When Jobs wanted to make the iMac,
he wanted the user to navigate through the system as easy as possible, and that the user could
finish their jobs quicker and easier. Steve Jobs’ technology made it as easy as possible for the
user to get their jobs done. All of the technology that Jobs created made it easier for society to do
their jobs.

Through creating pieces of technology and making people’s jobs easier, Steve Jobs had a
positive impact on society. Steve Jobs’ creations changed the way we view and make new
inventions today. With his time at Apple he made it easier for scientists to record and transfer
their data. At Pixar he made a new device that let artists create better quality films. With his time
at Pixar, his creation went on to make very popular movies and films for Pixar and Disney.
